After Chen Ningxi received the news of Cheng Qiaobei’s boarding, she thought about holding out until he came through the door, but just past midnight, she was so sleepy that she nodded off.

When Cheng Qiaobei got off the plane, he took a car straight to the Chen Family home, trying his best not to make any noise as he entered. But as soon as he closed the door, Ye Yujun emerged from the master bedroom.

"You’re back, Cheng."

Cheng Qiaobei paused and turned back, saying, "...Mom, did I wake you?"

Ye Yujun said, "No, I’ve been waiting for you. You haven’t had dinner yet, have you?"

Cheng Qiaobei said, "I ate, Mom. Had something at the airport."

"Come on, Ning Xi already told me you don’t like airport food or airplane meals," Ye Yujun said as she headed towards the kitchen, "I’ll heat up some dishes for you, just have a bite."

"Thank you, Mom."

In truth, Cheng Qiaobei hadn’t eaten in the evening. He was in too much of a hurry to get back and didn’t have an appetite, holding out until he got on the plane.

After washing his hands, he went to the dining room. There were two dishes on the table. He picked up the chopsticks and started eating. Ye Yujun placed more heated dishes down, "Eat slowly."

Cheng Qiaobei chewed and said, "Mom’s cooking is the best."

Ye Yujun smiled, poured a cup of hot water, and placed it next to him, "Eat slowly, just leave it here once you’re done. I’ll clean up in the morning."

Cheng Qiaobei agreed, but after he finished eating, he cleaned up before going to the room.

The person on the bed was in a deep sleep. Cheng Qiaobei gently pulled back the covers, lay down, lifted her head, and slipped his arm under her neck, holding her in his arms before he could finally close his eyes in peace.

In her half-conscious state, Chen Ningxi felt the familiar embrace, "You’re back?"

"Yes. I’m back, go to sleep."

Chen Ningxi snuggled further into his embrace, and Cheng Qiaobei tightened his grip.

The next day, Cheng Qiaobei took Chen Ningxi to the hospital to pick up the results, and Ye Yujun, not feeling at ease, insisted on going with them. After reviewing the test results, the doctor said that for now, Chen Ningxi’s indicators were within the normal range. He then provided her with a medication plan to support the pregnancy and improve her bodily indicators.

Hearing that everything was normal, Ye Yujun asked the doctor a couple more questions.

"Doctor Bai, is my daughter going to get pregnant this time?"

Doctor Bai said, "Implantation doesn’t guarantee pregnancy, but there is still a chance of getting pregnant."

Leaving the doctor’s office, Ye Yujun said, "That’s like saying nothing at all."

"Mom, the doctor also said we have to wait four or five more days for the results," Chen Ningxi said.

Ye Yujun sighed, "I’m just anxious."

Chen Ningxi had been resting at home for five days and was planning to handle some urgent matters at work today.

"Just drop me off at the office entrance," Chen Ningxi said.

Ye Yujun was worried, "Are you sure? You’ve only been resting for a few days."

Chen Ningxi replied, "The doctor just said to move around more."

Ye Yujun said, "Getting exercise doesn’t mean going to work, don’t overdo it."

Cheng Qiaobei first took Ye Yujun back home before dropping off Chen Ningxi.

Stopping in front of Danjiang Electric, Cheng Qiaobei said, "I’ll come to pick you up tonight. And take it easy, don’t overwork yourself."

Chen Ningxi leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, "See you tonight."

He kept watching until she walked into the building, then Cheng Qiaobei started the car and drove away.

Entering the company, he immediately saw Deng Yan frowning at the computer, so Cheng Qiaobei walked into his office.

"What are you doing? Your brows are furrowed so tight you could crush a fly."

Deng Yan said, "In the equity transfer agreement we studied last time, there’s a clause that is very disadvantageous to us. If we carelessly sign it, this contract will really go into effect."

Cheng Qiaobei originally wanted to comfort him and say not to worry, but after seeing the agreement Deng Yan handed over, he noticed that two of the clauses were really somewhat excessive.

"Take the document and come to my office," Cheng Qiaobei said as he turned and walked away.

Deng Yan placed the earlier document on the table. Cheng Qiaobei took a closer look at the agreement clauses, which indeed subtly implied the incorporation of Eastern First-class into Qiankun Group.

Cheng Qiaobei marked the contentious clauses and said to Deng Yan, "Help me schedule a meeting with Zou Yong for tomorrow."

Deng Yan nodded, "Understood."

When the workday ended, Cheng Qiaobei headed directly to Danjiang Electric to pick up Chen Ningxi from work.

Chen Ningxi was also waiting early at the entrance. A car pulled up before her, and Chen Ningxi remembered the license plate—it was Zou Yong’s.

Zou Yong got out of the vehicle and shouted over, asking the person on the steps, "Ningxi, what are you doing here?"

"Uncle Zou, I’m waiting for Qiaobei to pick me up," Chen Ningxi replied.

Zou Yong glanced at his watch, "It’s late, let me take you home."

Chen Ningxi said, "No need, Uncle Zou, he’s almost here."

Zou Yong said, "It’s too hot outside. Come wait in the car."

Chen Ningxi waved it off, politely declining, "I have sun protection gear, it’s alright."

Zou Yong walked around the car, opened the passenger-side door for Chen Ningxi, and insisted, "Get in and wait."

Chen Ningxi had no choice but to get into the car. Zou Yong fetched a bottle of water from the trunk, returned to the driver’s seat, twisted open the cap, and handed it to Chen Ningxi. "How long have you been waiting outside?"

"Not long, I just came out," Chen Ningxi glanced at the bottled water, "Thank you, Uncle Zou, but I’m not thirsty."

Seeing she didn’t take it, Zou Yong took a big swig himself.

"You look so pale," Zou Yong remarked as he scrutinized her.

Not wanting to mention the IVF, Chen Ningxi awkwardly fibbed, "I’ve just been sleeping poorly lately."

Zou Yong inquired, "What’s keeping you up?"

Zou Yong asked, "Be honest, has he been giving you a hard time?"

Following her line of sight, Zou Yong saw a Cayenne pulling up at the roadside. The passenger impatiently hopped out. In the depths of Zou Yong’s eyes, her retreating figure was reflected, and then they moved to the person getting out of the driver’s seat, narrowing dangerously.
