Fated Love With the Billionaire
Chapter 449: A Great Humiliation

Chapter 449: Chapter 449: A Great Humiliation

Cheng Qiaobei parked the car in front of the Jinzheng Legal Consultation Center. Guo Heming had been dismissed from his previous law firm due to some issues and was now barely getting by in this small law office.

The law office was less than twenty square meters, cramped with seven desks. Along the walls were two filing cabinets. The environment certainly couldn’t compare to the previous law firm.

As it was close to noon, most people had probably gone for lunch, leaving Guo Heming and another young lawyer. Guo Heming sat at a desk with his back to the door, on the phone discussing marital property issues with a client.

The young lawyer noticed someone entering and asked, "Here for a consultation?"

Cheng Qiaobei pointed behind the lawyer, "Looking for someone."

The young lawyer called out, "Lawyer Guo, a client is looking for you."

Guo Heming turned his head, momentarily taken aback when he saw who it was, "Just a moment,"

He turned his gaze back to the phone, said a few hurried words to the person on the line, and then hung up.

Cheng Qiaobei casually walked over, pulled up a chair, and sat beside his desk, "Seems like Lawyer Guo is quite busy."

With obvious hostility, Guo Heming looked at Cheng Qiaobei warily, "What are you doing here?"

Having said that, he didn’t plan to pay him any more attention and started organizing the materials on his desk.

Cheng Qiaobei said meaningfully, "You should know why I’m here. Do you want to discuss it here, or should we go somewhere else?"

Guo Heming frowned. What else could he be here for if not to see him in trouble?

He replied impatiently, "Let’s talk here."

Cheng Qiaobei raised his eyebrows subtly and nodded, "Fine, you asked for this."

Guo Heming suddenly realized something and stopped what he was doing. He was recalling that incident and thought it unlikely he’d get caught out, even if someone investigated, they wouldn’t trace it back to him.

Watching as Cheng Qiaobei pulled out a photo and placed it on the table, pushing it towards him.

Upon seeing the contents of the photo, Guo Heming’s pupils slightly tensed, and he instantly became nervous, yet he maintained a facade of calm.

Cheng Qiaobei nodded at the photo, "So, what do you want to do about this?"

Guo Heming swallowed. Clearly, he had enough evidence, having come to him. He glanced back at his colleague, feigned familiarity with Cheng, and said with a smile:

"You’re talking about that case. Sure, let’s go outside to talk."

But Cheng Qiaobei didn’t budge, "No need for that, let’s talk here."

Guo Heming worried his colleagues would notice, leaned over with a pleading look, and whispered, "Let’s talk outside."

Cheng Qiaobei, utterly disdainful of his desire to save face, stared at him, remaining unmoved.

The colleague really thought he was a client there for a consultation, so he poured a glass of water and placed it on the desk, "Have some water, take your time."

Guo Heming forced a smile, expressing thanks, "Thank you."

Cheng Qiaobei glanced at the paper cup, "I truly admire Lawyer Guo’s character of bending rather than breaking, even in the face of such circumstances."

Guo Heming lowered his voice and begged, "Please, let’s discuss this outside."

Cheng Qiaobei shot him a cold glance, stood up, and walked out. Guo Heming didn’t care about the mess on his desk, grabbed his phone, and followed him out.

As he left, he ensured to inform his colleague, "I’m going to accompany the client on some matters, I’ll be back soon."

Colleague: "Alright."

Once both were outside, the colleague cast a glance at the Cayenne at the door, feeling a tinge of envy, thinking Lawyer Guo must have secured some big case.

Guo Heming suggested proactively, "There’s a coffee shop across the street, why don’t we go sit there for a while?"

Cheng Qiaobei headed towards the coffee shop first. Upon entering, his gaze fell on a booth by the window, but Guo Heming guided him to a private room instead.

"Let’s talk inside, it’ll be more convenient."

Cheng Qiaobei sneered, mocking, "Convenient? Convenient for who? Seems like it only ever benefits you."

"!" Guo Heming was at a loss for words, awkwardly gesturing for Cheng Qiaobei to take a seat.

The two of them entered the private room one behind the other, and Guo Heming ordered two iced Americanos.

After the waiter served the coffee, Guo Heming closed the door.

Cheng Qiaobei remained silent, which only made Guo Heming feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.

After a moment of silence, Guo Heming spoke first, "How do you want to resolve this?"

Cheng Qiaobei replied in a playful tone, "Simple, just kick you out of the legal profession."

"..." Guo Heming’s expression turned to shock, swallowing hard, still trying to maintain a composed appearance.

Cheng Qiaobei said, "You’re a lawyer; you should understand the consequences of your actions."

Guo Heming wanted to argue, but faced with irrefutable evidence, any word he spoke lacked conviction.

Guo Heming pleaded desperately, "I can’t lose my job. I have to pay the mortgage on my house and car every month. If my parents back home find out I lost my job, I won’t be able to explain. All my relatives and friends know I’m a lawyer here."

Cheng Qiaobei said sinisterly, "Not my problem."

Guo Heming: "..."

Cheng Qiaobei continued with a disdainful look, "You’ve only ever considered yourself; you truly are a selfish bastard."

"I..." Guo Heming opened his mouth, but was left speechless.

Cheng Qiaobei said, "When asking for something, you should adopt a begging attitude."

Guo Heming pondered for a moment. The things posted online were enough to cost him his job. If an apology could settle this, it wouldn’t be too much for him.

He awkwardly said, "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have spoken recklessly online."

Cheng Qiaobei shook his head, his disdain undisguised, "That’s too simple, isn’t it?"

Guo Heming retorted, "How do you expect me to apologize?"

Cheng Qiaobei leaned back into his chair slowly, naturally resting his hand on the table, tapping his fingers rhythmically, "Post a public apology video using the account you left comments with."

Upon hearing this, Guo Heming turned pale with fear in his eyes, "How can I do that?"

"Why not? You’re apologizing for the mistakes you made," Cheng Qiaobei spread his hands, "It’s only right."

Guo Heming blinked, instinctively shaking his head, "No, I can’t."

He repeated it twice, knowing if he apologized, those people who supported him would turn against him online.

Cheng Qiaobei’s eyes flashed with ridicule, then in a casual and languid tone said:

"Are you scared?"

Guo Heming felt his throat go dry and realized the iced Americano before him; he picked it up and took a sip, "Those people online, they don’t care about the truth; they just see a hot topic and vent their emotions, saying irresponsible things."

Cheng Qiaobei squinted, his gaze seemed to hide daggers, wishing to stab a few bloody holes into him right now.

"So you knew they don’t care about the truth, yet you maliciously commented on Ning Xi’s online, deliberately slandering her? What was your goal? Did fabricating those filthy rumors give you a sense of vengeance?"

Guo Heming lowered his eyes. At the time, he felt elated, even at the cost of lowering his moral standards, using extremely filthy language to describe Chen Ningxi. He wanted to rally people to criticize Chen Ningxi from a moral high ground, branding her as promiscuous, hoping by tarnishing her reputation, he could vent his anger.

Cheng Qiaobei said, "If you make mistakes, own up to them. If you take a beating, stand straight."

Guo Heming weighed the pros and cons, increasingly feeling Cheng Qiaobei’s firm stance, knowing the matter wouldn’t end without an apology.

"Fine, I’ll apologize. I’ll record it tonight when I get home."

Cheng Qiaobei: "Who said anything about recording at home?"

"Then when should I record it?" Guo Heming asked, "Here?"

Cheng Qiaobei said in a teasing tone, "Why not?"

"..." Recording an apology video in front of him?

For Guo Heming, this was utter humiliation.
