Fated Love With the Billionaire
Chapter 307: You Will Pay the Price

Chapter 307: Chapter 307: You Will Pay the Price

The siblings clashed openly in public for the first time, creating an awkward and tense situation for Deng Yan, who found himself at the center of their dispute.

But Deng Yan quickly composed himself, stepped around the office desk, and shut the door.

"Mr. Cheng, calm down," Deng Yan said, lowering his voice as he reminded Cheng Qiaobei.

Cheng Siluo, standing off to the side, wiped the coffee off her face with her hand, her gaze blazing with anger as she said,

"Well, well, you’ve got the guts to throw coffee at me?"

Cheng Qiaobei replied nonchalantly, "So what? Are you planning to tell on me?"

The exchange sounded childish, like a spat between kids, but from the calculating glint in her eyes, Cheng Qiaobei was already aware of her intentions.

"You’ll pay for this," Cheng Siluo warned.

Cheng Qiaobei wasn’t afraid of her exploiting this incident—in fact, he was counting on this move from her.

He even deliberately provoked her further with his words: "I don’t care; do whatever you want. But how are you going to explain that cup of water you threw at Deng Yan?"

"It’s none of your business. That’s between me and him," Cheng Siluo forced herself to stay composed and said, "Besides, it was because of his incompetence."

"Are you okay? In this lawful society, just for what you did earlier, Deng Yan could press charges against you," Cheng Qiaobei said with a mocking shake of his head. He didn’t even bother to look at her directly as he jeered, "How did I end up with such a stupid sister as you?"

From his tone to his expression, Cheng Qiaobei exuded extreme disdain and ridicule, which further provoked the untouchable pride buried deep in Cheng Siluo’s heart.

Since childhood, she always felt superior to Cheng Qiaobei in terms of status. To her, he was the rat in the gutter her mother spoke of—a secret child hidden from the light.

Being looked down upon by Cheng Qiaobei was something Cheng Siluo simply couldn’t tolerate.

A person she had always despised and trampled underfoot now dared to stand above her and wreak havoc.

Anger surged within Cheng Siluo. She raised her hand, ready to strike him across the face, but Cheng Qiaobei caught her wrist mid-air.

His grip was firm, causing Cheng Siluo to let out a muffled gasp of pain.

Biting down the pain, Cheng Siluo said, "Don’t think that just because Dad favors you now, you can become arrogant."

But Cheng Qiaobei smiled even more smugly. "Does he favor me, or can he not leave me? If you were truly capable, you wouldn’t need to watch me revel in this. Bottom line, you’re not up to it, so don’t envy someone else’s attention. If you’ve got what it takes, earn it yourself."

"Your shamelessness—did you learn that from your mother?"

At these words, Deng Yan’s face turned pale with fright. This was hitting Cheng Qiaobei where it hurt most. Fearing things might spiral out of control, Deng Yan hurried to separate the two.

He held onto Cheng Qiaobei and turned to the person behind him, saying, "Manager Cheng, everyone’s busy right now, and no one’s paying attention to this side. You should hurry back and clean yourself up. Don’t let others see and make a joke out of it."

Cheng Siluo shot Cheng Qiaobei a venomous glare, but she wasn’t willing to let him off so easily. Venting her anger, she spat out as she walked away, "Your mother’s nothing but a mistress. And you’re angry because I’m telling the truth. No matter how high you stand now, you’ll never shed your shameful origins. Why are you giving me that look? Upset? You’re upset because your mom’s a mistress! If she had any decency back then, she wouldn’t have gone after someone else’s husband!"

"Cheng Siluo, I’ll kill you!" Cheng Qiaobei’s eyes turned bloodshot as he lunged toward her, but Deng Yan clung tightly to his waist, shouting, "Shut up and just leave already!"

Cheng Qiaobei struggled against the hands on his waist. "Let go, Deng Yan! Did you hear me? Let go!"

Deep down, Cheng Siluo felt triumphant—she had finally made Cheng Qiaobei lose control. She quickly ran to the door and shouted back at him,

"You and your shameless mother won’t stay smug for long."

Cheng Qiaobei’s jaw tightened, veins protruding as he fought to break free in the direction of the door. "Let go, Deng Yan! Let go, you f***ing—"

Cheng Siluo gave him one last mocking glance before slamming the door shut.

Deng Yan was being dragged forward but used all his strength to pull back, doing everything he could to hold Cheng Qiaobei in place.

"Mr. Cheng, calm down. You have to calm down now," Deng Yan pleaded. "If you really hit her, no matter who’s in the right, you’ll lose all justification. Don’t you see what she’s trying to do? She’s trying to provoke you into making things worse. If you lash out today, no one in the company will be able to protect you."

Feeling the force holding him loosen, Deng Yan realized that Cheng Qiaobei was gradually calming down.

Studying his expression cautiously, Deng Yan tentatively asked, "Mr. Cheng, can I let go now?"

Closing his eyes briefly, Cheng Qiaobei let out a deep, harsh exhale and said, "...It’s fine now. Let go."

Deng Yan carefully released him. His hands had been gripping too tightly, leaving him trembling with exhaustion. "If Mr. Cheng blows this up later, I’ll take full responsibility."

Cheng Qiaobei’s grim eyes swept over him. "You’re giving yourself too much credit. My business is mine to handle."

With that, he slammed the door and stormed out.

Meanwhile, Cheng Siluo didn’t return to her office but instead went to Cheng Xiangheng’s office, still drenched in coffee. Finding it empty, she quickly took a few selfies of her miserable state as evidence. After waiting a while with no sign of him, she sent the photos to Cheng Xiangheng and followed them up with a teary voice message.

Siluo: "Daddy, your daughter’s made you upset. I had a disagreement with my brother at the company today, and he poured coffee all over me. ...Because of Deng Yan’s mistake, I accidentally knocked over a glass of water, and my brother misinterpreted it as me bullying Deng Yan. So, he poured scalding coffee directly on my face. ...My face is still burning with pain." She paused to sob pitifully, "Daddy... blame me, don’t blame him. I shouldn’t have argued with him at the company, embarrassing our family like this in front of others. But from the way he spoke, it was clear he doesn’t respect you at all. He even said he’s not relying on your favoritism but that you and the company can’t function without him. He doesn’t take you seriously at all, acting as if the company falls under his control. I was so furious I couldn’t help arguing with him."

After sending the message, a flicker of malicious glee appeared in Cheng Siluo’s eyes.

At that moment, Cheng Xiangheng had just finished meeting with an enigmatic client. Once he got into his car, he noticed the lengthy audio message from Cheng Siluo. As he listened, his face grew darker and darker.

Suddenly, Cheng Siluo’s phone rang.

She flinched and quickly opened it, only to see a message from Cheng Xiangheng: "We’ll talk when I get back."

Smirking in satisfaction, Cheng Siluo hummed happily to herself, anticipating the drama to come.

She remembered an incident from childhood during a Chinese New Year when Cheng Qiaobei was brought home to stay for a few days. They squabbled over a toy, and she waited for the perfect moment to cry pitifully in front of everyone, resulting in her father giving him a beating.

For days after, Cheng Qiaobei didn’t dare to sit at the dinner table. He would eat his meals standing, then quietly leave.

Even now, thinking about it satisfied her immensely.

Cheng Siluo used her phone to contact Zheng Rongxi, who immediately began strategizing how to turn this scene into a compelling performance.

...

Wei Lai walked in with a cup of coffee, placing it down as she noticed that Cheng Qiaobei’s expression had returned to normal.

"Getting into an argument with her at a time like this won’t do you any good," she said casually.

Cheng Qiaobei was bent over his work, focused on a document, completely unaffected. "Check the company’s current stock price for me."

Wei Lai nodded. "Okay, I’ll get on it right away."

Knowing he didn’t want to hear any nagging, Wei Lai left to give him space to clear his thoughts.

Cheng Xiangheng finally returned to his office. As he opened the door, he saw Cheng Siluo sitting on the couch, sobbing softly.

Hearing the door behind her, Cheng Siluo quickly turned her back to wipe her tears messily with a tissue. Then she turned around, bowed her head, and murmured,

"Mr. Cheng."
