Fated Love With the Billionaire
Chapter 136: The Wife Is Not Good

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: The Wife Is Not Good

Jade Jiali’s upper management had five directors with significant shares. In order of their shareholdings, they were Cheng Xiangheng, Yin Yihui, Lian Wenlong, Zheng Rongxi, and Xu Yunheng.

Cheng Qiaobei was intercepted in the parking lot.

"CEO Cheng."

Looking at the person in front of him, Li Ying, Cheng Qiaobei wondered why she, as Yin Yihui’s secretary, stopped him.

"Secretary Lee."

Li Ying smiled and gestured towards the car opposite, "Chairman Yin has prepared a good pot of tea in a nearby teahouse and invites you to taste it."

He wasn’t really close with Yin Yihui. If he called him over for tea, it certainly wasn’t just about the tea, but he couldn’t afford to lose face.

"First, thank Chairman Yin, and please, Secretary Lee, lead the way." Cheng Qiaobei followed Li Ying into the car.

The car stopped in front of a quiet teahouse, and under Li Ying’s guidance, Cheng Qiaobei walked into the innermost elegant room.

Li Ying stood at the door, "Please, Chairman Yin is inside."

As soon as Cheng Qiaobei walked in, the door closed behind him.

A subtle fragrance filled the air. Lifting the bamboo curtain, Yin Yihui was sitting by the tea table inside.

Seeing him enter, Yin Yihui stood up with a smile to greet him, "You’ve come, Qiao Bei."

Cheng Qiaobei respectfully addressed him, "Chairman Yin."

Yin Yihui invited him to sit by the tea table and started pouring tea as he spoke, "The company has had a lot of issues lately. You must be tired."

Cheng Qiaobei said, "Everyone is busy; you must be working hard too, Chairman Yin. Since you’ve invited me for tea today, it seems you’re in a good mood."

From the first day he saw Cheng Qiaobei, Yin Yihui knew this young man had a promising future. Hence, he was the first to oppose him joining the company. In just a few years, he had reached the position of general manager of the group, and his future was limitless.

Since they were both smart, there was no need to beat around the bush.

Yin Yihui placed a cup of tea in front of him and said, in a tone of caring for a junior, "I know you’ve encountered some problems at work. If the pressure is too much, Chairman Lian and I can help you."

A simple offer of help left Cheng Qiaobei puzzled.

"Chairman Yin, what do you mean by that?"

Yin Yihui said, "Chairman Lian and I greatly admire you, especially your management skills. Of course, we aren’t implying that Mr. Cheng’s management is flawed; it’s just that he’s getting old, and many of his ideas and measures don’t keep up with the times."

"..." Understood, they wanted to push him to the forefront as a substitute.

Cheng Qiaobei responded without showing emotion, "The current scale of Jade Jiali is precisely supported by CEO Cheng’s management philosophy. Not keeping up with the times? I don’t think so."

Silently, Yin Yihui thought, he’s really flawless.

He also understood that Cheng Qiaobei wouldn’t easily believe him; he wouldn’t either if he were in his place.

Yin Yihui said, "But times are changing, and our management philosophy needs to change with them. The younger generation is very different from before. They value freedom, innovation, and individuality more. We need to adapt to these changes, or we’ll be left behind by the times. Your presence could infuse new blood into the company and elevate it to greater heights."

Cheng Qiaobei remained silent.

Yin Yihui did not lose patience and continued, "I understand your concerns. I invited you to express my and Chairman Lian’s determination for reform. Just say the word, and Chairman Lian and I will absolutely be your strongest support within the company."

It seemed Yin Yihui was allying with Chairman Lian for ulterior motives.

Cheng Qiaobei wanted to probe their intentions, so he acted slightly persuaded, saying, "The formation of a management philosophy, especially after many years of adherence, is not easy to change. It requires a lot of effort and other things to alter it."

The "other things" referred to many things, both understood between the two.

Yin Yihui nodded, poured him another cup of tea, and said, "Change is difficult, but not changing is even harder. If we can’t keep pace with the times, our company will slide continuously until it disappears. The overseas hotel situation has already sounded the alarm for us."

Cheng Qiaobei took a deep breath; Yin Yihui’s two overseas hotels were the only profitable ones, indicating he wasn’t a simple person.

Yin Yihui said, "We should start thinking about how to change our management concepts and operational methods to adapt to the changing times. It’s not only an arduous task but also concerns the interests of all group shareholders. For you, it will also be your defining moment."

Cheng Qiaobei tested the waters by asking, "Chairman Yin, by defining moment you mean...?"

Yin Yihui smiled gently, "The Chairman of Jade Jiali, don’t you think that’s a defining moment?"

Cheng Qiaobei lifted his tea cup and sipped, "Chairman Yin, aren’t you forgetting my identity?"

Upon hearing this, Yin Yihui’s expression was intriguing, "Qiao Bei, that’s something I should remind you of."

On the surface, Cheng Qiaobei remained calm, but inwardly he was suspicious; Yin Yihui wouldn’t say such things without reason, surely he had heard something.

But he couldn’t easily fall into the trap. Even if Yin Yihui couldn’t win him over, today’s conversation would become a handle for the other party to control him.

Cheng Qiaobei said with composure, "Thank you, Chairman Yin, for the reminder. Neither publicly nor privately would I ever do anything to betray CEO Cheng. Let’s pretend we never met today. Also, thank you for the tea."

He got up to leave, and as he was halfway through the doorway, he heard a voice from inside:

"Chairman Lian and I will show our determination to you in our way."

Outside, Cheng Qiaobei met Li Ying’s gaze. She bowed, "CEO Cheng, take care."

As he strode down the long corridor, Cheng Qiaobei could sense a pair of watchful eyes fixed on him.

Returning home, as he pushed open the door, he smelled the scent of cooking from the kitchen. Seeing her busy silhouette, his tense nerves instantly relaxed.

Chen Ningxi was lifting a ladle to taste the soup when she heard footsteps behind her.

The next moment, a warm embrace enveloped her waist, accompanied by his weary voice, "Honey, I’m back."

Chen Ningxi ladled another spoonful of soup, "You’ve worked hard, Mr. Cheng. Try the chicken soup I’ve made for you. The chicken is tender. After finishing, have a bath and then get some rest."

Releasing her, Cheng Qiaobei turned as she fed him a taste of the soup, "How’s the taste?"

He nodded, "Delicious."

"Hurry up, wash your hands, and come eat," she urged.

Eating the tender chicken and sipping the flavorful soup, with his most beloved sitting beside him, the comfort of family greatly alleviated his fatigue, making Chen Ningxi his power source.

Seeing him devour the food, Chen Ningxi asked, "Didn’t you have lunch?"

He nearly laughed at the question. You don’t say, you really don’t, after staying up for a day and a night, and only having tea with a board member, without a meal.

Chen Ningxi said, "Doesn’t your company have work meals, especially for someone in your position who works overtime?"

He replied, "There are work meals, but I was too busy to eat at the time."

Feeling uncomfortable, Chen Ningxi recalled Ye Yujun’s call that morning. She had exclaimed about stewing the company boss.

"My mom, if she knew her precious son-in-law hadn’t eaten, would probably storm your company and stew your boss."

Cheng Qiaobei said, "... stew her own in-law?"

She laughed, "Why don’t you call and ask her?"

"You mean Mom called you?"

"Yeah, she called in the morning, and knowing you’ve been working overtime, she’s very worried."

He said with emotion, "Mom’s the best."

Chen Ningxi hooked her arm around his shoulders, "Your wife isn’t?"
