Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Watch How I Deal With You

Due to Cheng Qiaobei’s sudden appearance, Chen Ningxi introduced him to her classmates one by one again. They chatted for a while at the restaurant entrance, and when the designated driver arrived, the crowd dispersed.

Zhang Yuetong felt embarrassed to sit in Chen Ningxi’s car. She originally planned to ride back with another classmate, but Cheng Qiaobei insisted on inviting her.

Cheng Qiaobei took Chen Ningxi’s car keys and even opened the car door for Zhang Yuetong.

Zhang Yuetong was flattered, "This is so embarrassing."

Cheng Qiaobei smiled and nodded, "You’re too kind. You helped with our marriage registration last time. Just for that reason, I have to make sure you’re well-served today."

Zhang Yuetong looked at Chen Ningxi with an expression clearly praising her, "Your husband’s emotional intelligence is enviable. My guy is like a block of wood, doesn’t know how to joke or take care of people. I’ll teach him a lesson when I get back."

"You must be joking, Kong Wei is very upright. He’s not like him, always joking around without being serious for a day." Chen Ningxi laughed, glancing at Cheng Qiaobei, who still wore that smiling expression. She got into the back seat with Zhang Yuetong and closed the car door, saying, "To Oak City."

At the gathering just now, Zhang Yuetong had mentioned her address.

Cheng Qiaobei started the car, "In the South District?"

Zhang Yuetong: "Yes, just on Guangrong Road in the South District."

Chen Ningxi was concerned, "Do you know how to get there?"

Cheng Qiaobei calmly replied, "I know."

Actually, he only knew the general area, as he hadn’t been to that part of the South District much.

Cheng Qiaobei drove while finding his way. In the back seat, Zhang Yuetong was busy chatting with Chen Ningxi and didn’t pay attention to the road. In fact, Cheng Qiaobei should have turned at the last intersection.

Taking advantage of the twenty-second red light stop, Cheng Qiaobei quickly opened the navigation system to search, then determined the location, restarted the car, and made a loop back.

After dropping Zhang Yuetong at her community entrance, she thanked him repeatedly before getting out of the car. Cheng Qiaobei smiled confidently, not letting her notice his previous wrong turn.

Once Zhang Yuetong was inside the community, Chen Ningxi got into the passenger seat, giving him a sideways glance. Cheng Qiaobei noticed from the corner of his eye but pretended not to see.

As the car slowly started, Chen Ningxi said, "When did you come back?"

Cheng Qiaobei replied, "Tonight."

Chen Ningxi pursed her lips, "Tonight? You arrived at the airport tonight?"

"Yeah," Cheng Qiaobei answered frankly.

Chen Ningxi crossed her arms, "Why didn’t you tell me in advance that you’d be back?"

Cheng Qiaobei looked at her, his eyes and brows tinged with a smile, "It’s said that absence makes the heart grow fonder. We haven’t seen each other for almost twenty days. You don’t seem very happy to see me."

"Stop changing the subject," Chen Ningxi wouldn’t be fooled that easily. "I’m asking you, why didn’t you tell me you were coming back early?"

Cheng Qiaobei couldn’t hold back his laughter, "I wanted to surprise you."

Chen Ningxi squinted her eyes, leaning closer, using her fingers to hook his chin, "Are you trying to surprise me, or checking up on me?"

Cheng Qiaobei rested one hand on the steering wheel, the other hand loosely covering his lips as he lightly coughed, "Cough... Of course, I wanted to surprise you."

"Oh?"

The meaningfulness of that single word managed to express a long string of sentiments.

Cheng Qiaobei still maintained a calm expression, looking ahead indifferently.

"Yeah."

He responded with one word as well, but compared to her spirited tone, his confidence was somewhat lacking.

Chen Ningxi quietly noted, he was feeling guilty.

To deal with him, one must use the most primitive means, the most straightforward way.

Chen Ningxi slowly moved her hand to his collar. Cheng Qiaobei immediately tightened his chin, "What are you doing?"

"Nothing, just looking."

"Look all you want, but no touching."

"Why can’t I touch my lawful husband?"

"Ha..." Cheng Qiaobei couldn’t hold back his laughter, "Touch, touch, go ahead."

Chen Ningxi coquettishly huffed, "Hmph."

Her delicate hand slipped through the gaps between the buttons of his shirt. When her fingertips touched his chest muscles, she could feel them instantly tensing up. She provocatively challenged him and asked:

"Mr. Cheng, you should tell the truth. Only honesty will set you free."

Cheng Qiaobei couldn’t stand her touching him. Twenty days of monk-like living was a torment for a newlywed young man. Who could understand his hardship?

"Chen, Chen Ningxi, stop fooling around."

His voice had changed, like a tightly drawn string about to snap.

Chen Ningxi secretly laughed inside, thinking, just wait and see how I deal with you if you don’t tell the truth.

"Mr. Cheng, if you tell me now, I might forgive you. If we get home, you might be sleeping on the sofa tonight."

Her hand teased his chest like a cat’s paw, making his heart melt.

He grabbed Chen Ningxi’s hand, kissing the back of it repeatedly, then wrapped her small hand in his large one. Suddenly, his restless heart was at peace.

What marriage brought others he didn’t know, but it brought him a fragrant rose, a serene sky, a still pool, a warm shelter.

"Are you watching me?" Chen Ningxi asked.

Cheng Qiaobei silently held her hand, "No."

"No." Chen Ningxi’s tone was questioning, "Your outfit, the shirt and pants are ironed, and you’ve meticulously folded the cuffs. If I remember correctly, you didn’t bring this outfit on your trip. You’ve also styled your hair and used styling spray," she leaned in to smell, "You even put on cologne. Wow, you’re quite the show-off. Is this for my female classmates or my male classmates?"

Seeing that he couldn’t hide it any longer, Cheng Qiaobei could only speak the truth.

"Sigh." First, he let out a sigh, "I knew I couldn’t hide it from you."

"Go on." Chen Ningxi, intrigued, twirled a loose strand of hair around her finger in circles.

Cheng Qiaobei cleared his throat, "Um... My true intention wasn’t to keep an eye on you. It’s that I’m not confident in myself. My wife is so outstanding and beautiful. I’m just afraid people might be enamored with you, so I tidied up to block some admirers for you, right?"

Chen Ningxi pulled her hand away, leaving Cheng Qiaobei’s palm empty. She only said:

"Mr. Cheng, I think you shouldn’t sleep in the bedroom tonight. The sofa suits you just fine."

"Hey... don’t, don’t... why kick up sand when it’s just fun and games?" Cheng Qiaobei pulled her hand back and held it tightly. This time, their fingers interlocked, and only then did he say, "I saw Mr. He there."

"So what if he was there? You don’t trust me?"

"Of course I trust you," he changed the tone, "but I don’t trust him. It’s not like I haven’t played badminton with him. With how he doesn’t take losing well, I worried he might say something nonsense to you after a few drinks."

Chen Ningxi: "..."

This guy probably had a crystal ball or something.

"Hey," Cheng Qiaobei noticed her hand grip tight momentarily, "You’re feeling guilty. Tell me, did he say something to you after drinking?"

This time, Chen Ningxi feigned calmness, "No, there were so many classmates. What could he say? Don’t overthink it."

At a red light ahead, Cheng Qiaobei brought the car to a stop and turned to look at her, saying, "Manager Chen, look into my eyes and say that again."

Chen Ningxi’s eyes went wide, "So many classmates, what could he say? Don’t overthink it."

Cheng Qiaobei’s long, narrow eyes slightly squinted into a charming curve, "Manager Chen, you’re feeling guilty."

Chen Ningxi’s pupils slightly flinched, "I’m not."

He bit his lip, his eyes hiding a roguish smile, leaning in to whisper something in her ear, making her blush instantly.
