Chapter 102: Chapter 102 Only You Can Get the Brother

Walking out of the police station, Ye Yujun was still fuming, turning back to glare at the window on the second floor as she said angrily,

"I should have slapped him a few more times earlier. So infuriating."

Chen Ningxi hooked her arm with Ye Yujun’s as they walked toward the parking spot, "Mom, my goal has been achieved. Making him apologize in front of his coworkers is more humiliating than slapping him."

Actually, among the three, Cheng Qiaobei was the one who most wanted to teach him a lesson, but considering today’s occasion, he couldn’t make a scene.

However, he remembered today’s incident. Sooner or later, he would make Guo Heming pay.

The incident at the wedding, though unpleasant, didn’t affect their relationship, and Guo Heming was sanctioned by the law firm because of what happened.

He was a smart guy. Chen Ningxi’s ability to give a letter of forgiveness was already merciful. If things really escalated, him facing administrative law sanctions would be minor, and he could potentially face criminal prosecution. If it came to that, he could kiss his job as a lawyer goodbye.

Cheng Qiaobei originally planned to return to Zhoushan immediately, but decided to delay two days to stay with Chen Ningxi because of this matter.

Chen Ningxi came out after her shower and saw Cheng Qiaobei on the phone, seemingly discussing hotel matters.

When he hung up, Chen Ningxi walked over and sat on Cheng Qiaobei’s lap, "If the hotel is busy, just go back, I’m fine."

Cheng Qiaobei put down the phone, wrapping his arms around her, "It’s not too busy these couple of days. Wei Lai is at the hotel too, it’s fine."

"Don’t let your work get delayed because of me."

In Chen Ningxi’s mind, public and private matters were distinct, and she strongly disapproved of marriage hindering one’s career.

Cheng Qiaobei understood her thoughts, "Don’t worry, it won’t be affected." He smoothed the stray hair by her ear, "Why don’t you keep long hair?"

Without answering, Chen Ningxi asked, "Do you like long hair?"

"Don’t use this to trap me," Cheng Qiaobei leaned down and lightly bit her shoulder. Chen Ningxi hissed, pulling her collar to see a line of faint teeth marks, and adjusted her collar, saying, "In high school, the school didn’t allow girls to keep long hair. After cutting it, it felt refreshing, so I didn’t plan to grow it again. But if you like it, I can grow it once more for you, though I can’t guarantee it’ll last."

Cheng Qiaobei laughed and said, "You don’t need to change anything for me, wear it however you like. By the way, did you have any plans for the Labor Day holiday?"

Chen Ningxi nestled into Cheng Qiaobei’s neck, thinking, "I used to either stay at home or take a short trip with Liang Lei for a couple of days. No plans this year, any recommendations?"

Cheng Qiaobei hugged her tighter, his head resting in her neck, enjoying the comforting scent on her, feeling peaceful and steady.

"We can’t just stay home staring at each other, right? How about going out for a bit? See what the other newlyweds are up to?"

Chen Ningxi raised an eyebrow and asked him, "Where to see other newlyweds?"

The question stumped Cheng Qiaobei. He straightened up, pretending to be puzzled, "You’re sharp, catching such a sophisticated question."

They looked at each other for a few seconds, and Cheng Qiaobei couldn’t hold back his laughter, "We’ll just watch movies, stroll around, go wherever we please, do whatever seems fun, and try out good food when we come across it."

Chen Ningxi squinted, "Is that what newlyweds do?"

Cheng Qiaobei murmured an affirmative.

"That’s what dating couples do," Chen Ningxi said as she got up and headed to the bedroom.

He quickly got up and caught up with her in a few steps, hugging Chen Ningxi’s slender waist from behind, and whispered in her ear,

"Should we do what newlyweds do now?"

"Ah... ticklish..." Chen Ningxi shrank away, but Cheng Qiaobei continued to tickle her relentlessly.

By the time they reached the bedroom, he closed the door with his heel, pressing her onto the bed.

The night gleamed like water, with a gentle wind stirring the clouds.

In the room, shadows twined, murmurs sang softly.

The Labor Day holiday brought more pedestrians to the streets than usual, with students dressed casually from middle and high school walking in groups through the shopping streets. Chen Ningxi, arm in arm with Cheng Qiaobei, became part of the crowd.

Passing through the snack street, Cheng Qiaobei asked if there was anything she wanted to eat. Chen Ningxi led him to a small stall, "During high school breaks, my classmates and I used to wander around here. Let me treat you to an egg waffle I often ate."

Cheng Qiaobei, seeing her speeding up excitedly, enjoyed the shared feeling of past joys.

He teased, "Did Ma come here together as well?"

Mentioning Ma, Chen Ningxi acted coyly and glanced at him, "Annoying."

Cheng Qiaobei laughed, "So did you or didn’t you?"

Chen Ningxi deliberately teased him, "Yes, we did. Satisfied?"

Cheng Qiaobei pretended to be angry, "Then no more snacks."

"You’re a bother," Chen Ningxi pushed him from behind, "Come on, you have to taste it, it’s delicious."

When they arrived, they saw a long line in front of the simple building, and Chen Ningxi regretfully said,

"There are so many people. Forget it, let’s not eat it, let’s wander ahead."

Cheng Qiaobei, wanting to savor her past joy, held her back and asked, "What flavor do you like?"

Chen Ningxi shook her head, pulling him, "Let’s not wait. It’s rare for you to come shopping with me, let’s not waste the time standing in line."

Cheng Qiaobei had already reached the line’s end, motioning her with his chin, "What’s your flavor choice?"

Chen Ningxi said, "Oreo flavor."

Cheng Qiaobei pointed to the bench across from them, "Go sit over there and wait for me."

"It’s fine, I’ll wait with you." Chen Ningxi stood beside Cheng Qiaobei, who naturally held her hand again.

It seemed that whenever they were together, he wouldn’t let go of her hand. This feeling brought a sweetness to her heart, though difficult to articulate.

After nearly half an hour, it was finally Cheng Qiaobei’s turn. He bought the Oreo egg waffle as she requested. Chen Ningxi took it and offered the first bite to Cheng Qiaobei, "Try it."

Cheng Qiaobei took a bite and said while chewing, "No wonder you like it."

Chen Ningxi’s eyes curved with a smile, "Delicious, right?"

Cheng Qiaobei, with a teasing tone, "Does Classmate Ma also like this flavor?"

Chen Ningxi pinched his waist, causing Cheng Qiaobei to yelp, "Really pinching, huh."

She licked the ice cream from the egg waffle, "Serves you right for talking nonsense."

Noticing a dab of ice cream on her nose, Cheng Qiaobei took out a tissue, holding her shoulder, "Don’t move."

Chen Ningxi lifted her chin with a smile as Cheng Qiaobei, with eyes full of affection, helped wipe it off.

Standing in the street, the couple’s interaction was pleasing to the eye, attracting a street photographer who captured the sweet moment, offering to show them the photo. Finding it beautiful, Cheng Qiaobei bought it for fifty yuan.

The photographer quickly sent the photo through the app to Cheng Qiaobei, who opened his timeline and posted it with a caption, "When you meet a perfect person, everyone else pales in comparison."

Chen Ningxi looked at his phone, "Aren’t you worried that posting this on your timeline will make a bunch of women sad?"

"What sad women?" Cheng Qiaobei put away his phone, "I don’t care about them. You’re the only one who can have me."
