Fated Love With the Billionaire
Chapter 100 Almost Perfect

Chapter 100: Chapter 100 Almost Perfect

Far away, they saw the rainbow arch at the hotel entrance with the couple’s names on a banner, and the parking lot was almost full. Cheng Qiaobei circled around and finally found a parking spot.

Chen Ningxi got out of the car and walked alongside Cheng Qiaobei. The two stood out in the crowd, and indeed, as he had predicted, Chen Ningxi drew many sideways glances.

To avoid overshadowing the main event, Chen Ningxi deliberately chose an outfit in Morandi tones today—low saturation to not stand out.

With a smile barely contained at the corners of his mouth, Cheng Qiaobei said to Chen Ningxi in a voice only they could hear, "Quite a few people are looking at me with envy."

Chen Ningxi replied, "You should tone down that smile of yours."

"Really? Is it that noticeable?" Cheng Qiaobei fully grinned.

Chen Ningxi sighed and shook her head helplessly.

When they reached the gift registration table, Chen Ningxi took a red envelope out of her handbag and handed it over, "Chen Ningxi, one thousand."

The person registering gifts accepted it, wrote her name on the envelope, and handed it to the person in charge of safekeeping. Then, they wrote in the ledger: Chen Ningxi, one thousand yuan.

Today was a good day, with wedding banquets held on the hotel’s first floor for two families. The sign on the left read ’Li Family Wedding Banquet,’ and the one on the right read ’Xiao Family Wedding Banquet,’ so Chen Ningxi led Cheng Qiaobei to the right.

The wedding venue was set up like a dream castle, with flowers, crystal chandeliers, and flowing drapes. A large screen played the couple’s wedding photo video, and the background music was "Ordinary Day," which was very soothing to listen to.

Chen Ningxi scanned the venue, searching for a glimpse of Ye Yujun. Cheng Qiaobei suddenly leaned into her ear and asked, "What style do you like for our wedding venue?"

She turned to look at him, her sweet smile widening, "I haven’t thought about it. How about you handle it and surprise me?"

Cheng Qiaobei’s eyes crinkled with a smile as he said, "Do you believe in light? What about an Ultraman theme?"

Chen Ningxi lost her smile, and Cheng Qiaobei held back a laugh, "Wrong, wrong, I’ll prepare properly."

She glared, "Don’t you dare do any weird programs that challenge my bottom line."

Cheng Qiaobei laughed, "I wouldn’t dare."

"There she is." Ye Yujun waved to Chen Ningxi.

Cheng Qiaobei looked towards her, "I see Mom."

The two walked toward Ye Yujun. At home, she was considered a senior figure of status and was naturally seated at the first table among the groom’s guests. As soon as Chen Ningxi approached, she noticed several elders who loved to chat sitting next to Ye Yujun. She turned back and whispered a reminder to Cheng Qiaobei, "Don’t talk too much later."

Cheng Qiaobei understood her meaning, "Okay."

Chen Ningxi first led Cheng Qiaobei to greet her grandparents. Cheng Qiaobei had just lit a cigarette for the old folks and exchanged a few words when he was called over to meet various relatives.

Ye Yujun introduced, "Qiaobei, these are Ningxi’s grandaunt and granduncle."

Cheng Qiaobei said, "Grandaunt, granduncle."

Ye Yujun continued, "And you call these two Third Uncle and Third Aunt."

Cheng Qiaobei said, "Third Uncle, Third Aunt."

After some more greetings, they met seven or eight distant relatives, people even Chen Ningxi couldn’t always remember, yet Cheng Qiaobei remembered them all at once.

Seeing the couple together, the relatives immediately sensed they were preparing to marry and inquired when Chen Ningxi would wed. Ye Yujun smiled and said it wouldn’t be long and they would send out invitations once the date was set.

Chen Ningxi felt she couldn’t keep smiling anymore, so she pulled Cheng Qiaobei and told Ye Yujun, "We’d better find seats or there won’t be any left."

Ye Yujun said, "Go ahead."

The two found a relatively quiet corner. Everyone at the table was from Chen Ningxi’s generation, making conversation easy.

The couple sat with their backs to the entrance, unaware that Guo Heming and several people from the law firm had just come in from a smoke break outside. A flower arch perfectly blocked their view. Seven or eight people sat at a table near the entrance, mostly coworkers from the law firm.

It wasn’t long before the wedding ceremony officially began. The lights dimmed, and a spotlight shone on the entrance.

As the host gave commands, the music started, and the bride, wearing a pristine white wedding dress, walked up the red carpet arm in arm with her father, step by step, toward the groom.

In an instant, Chen Ningxi inexplicably felt her nose tingle, perhaps imagining herself being led down this crucial path in her life by her father in the future. Just as she was about to wipe the corners of her eyes with her fingers, someone handed her a tissue.

She glanced sideways at Cheng Qiaobei, whose eyes also shimmered with a moist brilliance; they were both moved by the scene.

Their hands clasped secretly beneath the table, their eyes locked on the couple on the stage.

Seeing both sets of parents on stage further reaffirmed Cheng Qiaobei’s resolve to persuade Cheng Xiangheng. He couldn’t bear any regrets at his and Chen Ningxi’s wedding.

After the ceremony, it had to be said that the lawyer’s eloquence was impressive, their blessings touching everyone present.

As the banquet began, Cheng Qiaobei whispered to Chen Ningxi, "Let’s also take notes on everyone’s wedding banquet standards."

Beneath the table, she kicked him. He was quite humorously observant, but what was a hotel manager learning here for?

Although it was Cheng Qiaobei’s first time with this group, he was sociable, warming up with everyone quickly.

Someone accidentally spilled soup on Chen Ningxi’s clothes and apologized while dabbing at it with a tissue. Chen Ningxi said it was fine and went to the restroom to deal with it, followed closely by Cheng Qiaobei.

The restroom door was near the table of people from the bride’s family, and they walked through the crowd out of the banquet hall. Cheng Qiaobei waited in the corridor while Chen Ningxi took her time dealing with the oil stain.

"Let’s wait a bit before going back in; it’s a bit noisy outside," Chen Ningxi said.

"Okay." Cheng Qiaobei glanced back at the hall, "There’s water at the registration desk. I’ll get you a bottle."

He returned, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to her.

He asked, "After attending someone else’s wedding, do you have any requests for our own?"

It wasn’t realistic to say there were no hopes, but some things can’t be forced. One shouldn’t expect perfection but strive to do their best.

Chen Ningxi shook her head, "No requests; you handle it."

"Really none?" Cheng Qiaobei looked into her eyes, "Not even a little?"

Chen Ningxi tightened the cap on the water and handed it back to him, averting her eyes, "None."

"Your ’none’ sounds insincere."

"How is it insincere?"

Chen Ningxi met his gaze, "You’ve been running hotels for so long; you know better than me how it — what’s the process?"

Cheng Qiaobei chuckled, shaking his head, "I never pay attention to other weddings; I forget them right after they end. But when it comes to ours, I need to think it over carefully, to avoid leaving you with any regrets."

At the mention of regrets, Chen Ningxi grasped it almost immediately, taking Cheng Qiaobei’s hand, "Regrets in life are the norm; fulfillment is just a hope. Near fulfillment is good enough. If fate gives you too much fulfillment, it will take away something precious.

I am already very content with what I have now, not greedy."

"My wife is indeed magnanimous," Cheng Qiaobei smiled indulgently, his eyes full of affection, "I will strive for your near-fulfillment."
