Chapter 1352: Chapter 1352: Sharing a Bed with Him
She’s still acting like a three-year-old who’s hungry.
His tone was the exact same as it had been over ten years ago.
Back then, she was afraid of him. When he said she was hungry, she immediately didn’t dare to object and obediently listened.
Sylvan Cheney, devoid of sleep due to her pestering, groped for her wrist in the dark and pinned down her fidgeting hands.
"Jasmine Yale, will you sleep nicely? Hmm? No more fidgeting," Sylvan Cheney warned her, "Keep fidgeting, and I’ll go sleep in the guest room."
"I’ll stop fidgeting." She said aggrievedly, "Can you hold me?"
"No."
"I’m cold; if you don’t hold me, I might catch a cold."
"You’re really pushing your luck. Haven’t you been sleeping alone all these years?"
"No, in Chicago, I had Sweet Kitty."
"Then you..."
"Are you going to hold me or not?" Jasmine interrupted him, "If not, I’ll go to my room and bring back a stuffed animal."
"Fine," Sylvan scowled, "I’ll hold you."
He pressed down her head, pulling her into his broad chest, his large hand wrapping around her slender waist.
Jasmine was satisfied, very satisfied.
With her cheek against his chest, she could seemingly hear his heartbeat, steady and calm.
But hers was different; it was racing.
This wasn’t her first time sharing a bed with him, but this time was unlike any other.
Jasmine was very thin, almost bony to hold.
Sylvan lay with his eyes closed, a frown between his brows.
"Isn’t the food in Chicago good?"
"What?"
"How can you be so thin, even thinner than when you were a teenager?" In those years, he had held her too.
"You used to complain I was fat." Jasmine pointed out, "So I lost weight. Besides, isn’t being thin good?"
"What’s good about it? Fatten up a bit; it’s like holding bones."
"What if I get fat and you don’t want me anymore?"
"Say that again."
Jasmine flared up: "What do you mean ’say that again’? Don’t you know how to comfort someone?"
"How should I say it, then?"
"You should say, no matter if you are fat or thin, ugly or beautiful, as long as it’s you, I like you."
"Consider your declaration accepted," Sylvan pressed down her restless head, "Sleep now."
"???" How did Jasmine feel like she was duped again?
Just as she was about to speak up again, Sylvan silenced her with a push and said no more.
Jasmine gave up.
Drowsiness overcame her, and splayed in Sylvan’s embrace, she found a comfortable position and deeply fell asleep.
Having lived in the Cheney Residence for so many years, she had never expected there would come a day when she could sleep in his arms, sharing the same bed.
A year ago, she thought their lives would just end up that way.
Even yesterday, she was contemplating whether their destiny had reached its culmination.
Jasmine fell asleep contentedly, let out a yawn, and slowly drifted into dreamland.
During this sleep, Jasmine had a long dream.
She dreamt of the year she was eight when he took her home.
She liked to watch the stars, and the rooftop of the Cheney Residence was the perfect spot for it.
Being new and not daring to be too brash, she quietly climbed the staircase alone and huddled by the rooftop window.
Due to the ecology and environment, the stars here were more resplendent, brighter, and especially beautiful.
Jasmine blinked her big eyes and naively lay by the window, motionless as she watched the stars.
The stars twinkled in the sky, and she thought of her mother.
Her mother said that if you had a wish, you could make it under the starry sky.
As she watched, suddenly, a shooting star streaked across the sky!
Jasmine’s eyes widened in surprise as she watched, clapped her hands together, and made a wish.
