"Jasmine, whether you believe it or not, this is all I know, there’s nothing more. The only reason I tricked you back from Cakago was to tell you that Sylvan wants to bear all of this on his own, without intending to let you know," Joe Heath explained. "I’ll take the blame for being the villain. If Sylvan finds out I told you this huge matter, I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to escape the consequences."

"All the information I have found was through my contacts. The Cheney’s stock falling caused quite a stir in Landon, but since you were in Cakago, of course, you wouldn’t know. Sylvan suppressed the news, firstly, to protect the Cheney Family and secondly because he didn’t want you to find out."

"Do you understand? This is how it is, if Sylvan marries Joan Harry, there’ll be no issues, the Cheney Family will remain as it is, everything will settle, and even thrive. Little Jasmine, it’s your choice, what do you choose?"

Joe Heath suddenly asked Jasmine Yale.

Jasmine’s vacant eyes turned towards him as she shook her head.

"Why won’t he consent, why won’t he..." Jasmine Yale murmured, looking at Joe Heath. "Doesn’t he like Miss Harry a lot?"

She tried to discern the answer from Joe Heath’s face, but Joe was not Sylvan, so she couldn’t see anything.

"Little Jacy, where did you get the idea that Sylvan likes Miss Harry? Huh?"
