Chapter 1286: Chapter 1286: Even the Cheney Family Doesn’t Want It Anymore?

Joan Harry was shy and not very comfortable sharing too many personal thoughts or feelings.

At many parties and banquets, she had tried to invite Sylvan Cheney, but he had refused without exception.

All she could do was nod her head, "I’m sorry to bother Mr. Cheney."

As Sylvan Cheney hung up the phone, Butler Santana walked in.

"Mr. Cheney, Mr. Heath is here."

Sylvan’s eyes grew sharp—Joe Heath?

Before he could say anything, Joe Heath rushed in, pushing open the door to the living room!

Butler Santana panicked a little, "Mr. Heath..."

Joe glanced at Sylvan, then at Butler Santana, "You may leave."

"Yes," said Butler Santana as he left.

In the large living room, only Sylvan and Joe remained.

Joe was dressed in a casual grey overcoat, tall in stature; but standing in front of Sylvan, he seemed a bit less steady and more impulsive.

Sylvan put out the cigarette in his hand and tossed the butt into the ashtray.

"You’ve come just in time for dinner," Sylvan said indifferently.

"What’s going on with the Cheney Family shares plummeting like that?" Joe stood before Sylvan, his piercing eyes fixed on him.

"What you see is what it is."

"Big brother, are you saying you don’t even want the Cheney Family anymore? Have you lost your mind?"

"The Cheney Family is named Cheney; it’s none of your concern," Sylvan replied with a calm and indifferent expression, a cold light sweeping toward Joe.

He hadn’t expected Joe to come over.

"Big brother, Star Sharp has grown rapidly over the past two years and doesn’t lack funds. If you’re short on money, just talk to me. What kind of trouble can’t you overcome?" Joe asked urgently.

When he had entered the Cheney Residence, he sensed something amiss.

Usually bustling with life, the Cheney Residence was now eerily still.

Apart from Butler Santana, he hadn’t seen a single servant.

And with the Cheney shares tumbling, he couldn’t help but suspect something was wrong.

"Take care of your Star Sharp; the Cheney Family doesn’t need your worry."

"Big brother, I’ve been away in Uarope on business; what exactly happened? It’s almost New Year’s, why is there not a single person at home?"

"Whom do you want to see?" Sylvan asked with a laugh.

"Where’s Chale Cheney? And what about Miss Harry? And the one with the surname Meng?"

"Chale is in Lonton, as you well know," Sylvan replied wearily, clearly too lazy to explain.

"Not coming back even for the New Year’s? Big brother, can you really bear that? I don’t believe it!"

"Enough, go back if you’ve finished asking, and if you don’t want to, stay for dinner."

Joe looked anxious, but he knew Sylvan’s temperament too well.

There was no getting information that Sylvan didn’t wish to share; even if Joe persisted for days, he wouldn’t get an answer.

But the downfall of the Cheney shares definitely meant trouble!

He wasn’t a child to be fooled with a few words.

"Big brother, if the Cheney shares keep falling like this, the Cheney Family is finished!" Joe was truly desperate, yet his elder brother seemed completely unfazed, showing no sign of emotional turmoil.

This wasn’t exaggeration; with such a drastic fall in shares, any further decline would spell disaster!

"That’s still none of your concern."

"How can it not concern me, big brother? Do you even consider me a brother? What can’t you tell me? What do you lack? Can’t you speak openly with me?" Joe was frantic, "If something happens to the Cheney Family, how will you provide for Little Chale? Think about your son."

Sylvan chuckled lightly, "If the Cheney Family really has a problem, I’ll just give Chale to you."
