Chapter 1254: Chapter 1254: A Bit Overwhelmed by the Attention

Jasmine Yale always thought she had a short memory. If he was nice to her, she would forget all the terrible things he had done.

In fact, she forgot them after five minutes of walking with him on the street.

Holding the milk tea he bought for her, she chattered away.

She told him her teacher had specially praised her, she said she would work hard for the college entrance exam, and she even said she wanted to make dumplings for him, the kind she’d hand-make...

Sylvan Cheney didn’t bring anyone else, accompanying her shopping alone and helping her pick out clothes.

Teenage girls truly look good in anything.

Tall and slim, with fair skin and cheeks that still carried a baby’s roundness and glow.

Whatever he picked out, she would try on and it would fit perfectly.

However, he still preferred her in brighter colors, which suited her age better.

He wouldn’t let her look at clothes in shades of grey and black, only choosing beautiful colors for her.

Jasmine Yale was a bit overwhelmed by the attention; after all, he was always so busy, and for him to have the patience to go shopping with her, she felt like she had struck gold.

So, she forgot about being upset at home and walked with him, cheerful and all smiles.

Sometimes when she got too happy, she would inadvertently slip her arm through his.

Then, after a while, she would shyly pull away.

Sylvan Cheney didn’t seem to mind, however she was, it was good with him.

"Do you want to buy new clothes? I can help you pick some out," Jasmine Yale said, blinking her big eyes up at him.

"No need."

"Oh, so you came specially to shop with me today."

"..."

"Not talking again," Jasmine Yale huffed. "Which one do you think looked best on me, from the ones I just tried on?"

"If you like them, we’ll buy them all."

"No!" Jasmine Yale immediately refused. "What do I need so many clothes for? Just one set for the New Year’s is enough."

In her childhood, even one set of new clothes was hard to come by.

Her dad wouldn’t give her money, her mom didn’t have much, and sometimes they would just symbolically buy her a cheap coat or knit her a new sweater.

Despite this, she still looked forward to the New Year, still cherished her mom’s homemade sweaters.

Her mom had clever hands and would knit all sorts of pretty little animals onto the sweaters, sometimes kittens, sometimes bunnies, every one different.

This ended up making Kamila Zahir jealous, jealous of her, trying to snatch her sweaters.

"I’m buying it for you, what’s there to hesitate about," Sylvan murmured indifferently.

Jasmine Yale moved her lips, her voice faint, "I’m not anyone special to you, it’s not right."

She already felt guilty living at his place, eating and using his things.

When she was younger and didn’t understand, she didn’t mind, but now that she was older, she knew it wasn’t right.

There wasn’t really any connection between him and her...

The favor he had shown her, she would repay one day when she had the means.

"If you don’t want it, I’ll buy it for someone else."

"Who are you buying it for?" Jasmine Yale sharply caught the words "someone else" and looked at him with wide eyes.

A young girl’s mind is especially sensitive and complex in certain aspects.

Especially regarding certain terms.

"Children from the orphanage."

Jasmine Yale’s face flushed and then paled by turns.

Could she just ignore him?

Annoyed.

In the end, Jasmine Yale chose a light purple coat, a short outer garment that made her skin look even more delicate and beautiful.

Sylvan Cheney also bought her new sweaters, shoes, and pants; whether she wanted them or not, he bought them.

He himself didn’t buy anything.

As they exited the store, she cautiously asked, "Have I delayed you at all?"

"I had a business meeting to attend to this afternoon."
