Chapter 1094: Chapter 1094: Next Wednesday is his birthday Chapter 1094: Chapter 1094: Next Wednesday is his birthday Just as she was about to push open the car door, his deep voice rose lightly, “Warm up the lunch dishes tonight before eating, I’ve cleaned all the bowls, they’re in the cupboard. Don’t be picky, remember to drink all the rib soup, I simmered it for hours this morning.”

Upon hearing his reminder, Jasmine Yale nodded like a little girl.

“Got it.”

“Mm, off you go!”

Jasmine Yale hopped out of the car and dashed into the bakery.

No sooner had she stepped inside than the black Mercedes sped away like a swift, disappearing into the white curtain of rain.

Jasmine Yale sent him a text message, her head bowed: “See you at 6 p.m. next Wednesday at Time themed restaurant.”

Next Wednesday was his birthday.

He should understand.

Five minutes later, she received a reply, “Okay.”

Jasmine Yale felt a wave of subtle emotions undulating within her, like duckweed floating on water, changing directions with every gust of wind.

She gazed at the rain curtain, where it stood, empty and vast.

She thought, after his birthday, some words… they would have to address.

She didn’t quite understand his purpose for coming to Cakago, all she knew was that he had always been a ruthless man.

Whether it was dealing with business rivals or confronting Yolanda Fern who schemed against him, he never showed mercy.

And she… was the granddaughter of his enemy, Patronus Ximenez, his flesh and blood granddaughter.

How could he be tender-hearted and gentle with an enemy’s kin.

Especially after an incident that wiped out an entire family.

A faint mist formed over her eyes as she looked across to the other side of the street, to the usual spot where his car would park.

The warmth of his palm still lingered in her hands, as if his scent still hung in the air around her.

Jasmine Yale closed her eyes, fatigue veiling her eyelids.

She could never fathom his thoughts and feelings.

“Jasmine, Jasmine!” The proprietress called out to her twice.

“Huh?” Jasmine Yale snapped back to the present, turning her head.

“You are early today.”

“I don’t have classes this afternoon, so I came in early.”

“That’s good, we have more customers today, please take care of them. I’m going to the supermarket and will be back soon, thanks for your help, Jasmine.”

“Sure, it’s no trouble, I should.”

Aunt Camden always treated Jasmine Yale like her own daughter, and Jasmine was very polite to Aunt Camden.

She pulled herself back from her thoughts, put on her mask and gloves, and started to help out in the bakery.

There were quite a few people in the store drinking coffee today, and she was busy making several servings of freshly ground coffee.

Several regular customers praised her coffee-making skills, saying they came often.

On rainy days, sitting by the window with a coffee was quite the treat.

Many times, being busy meant having no time for idle thoughts.

“Table 2, one mocha.”

“Table 5, one manchado.”

“Table 6, one cappuccino.”

“Right away, right away.” Jasmine Yale began bustling around.

The bakery had several tables set aside for customers to sit, rest, and have some tea.

Life seemed to calm down all of a sudden.

Sylvan Cheney never appeared again.

Jasmine Yale still enjoyed curling up with Sweet Kitty to watch TV or read a book. She heard that Linnie Elwin had dropped out of school, vanishing from the University of Cakago without a word.

Everything about Linnie Elwin had disappeared as if she had never existed in UT.

This included her student records, dormitory, and grades–all erased.

And nobody dared discuss it.

“Sweet Kitty, what shall we eat today? Jasy’s too lazy to move, would you transform and make some food for Jasy?” On an early weekend morning, Jasmine Yale lay lazily in bed, playing with her cat.

“Meow–”

Sweet Kitty looked at Jasmine Yale helplessly.
