Chapter 84: Amusement park: Part-1

Soon, they reached the amusement park, standing before the towering, brightly lit arch with giant letters that spelled out,

"SKY HIGH!"

The neon glow shimmered in the warm daylight, drawing in excited families and thrill-seekers.

Leo muttered the name under his breath, but before he could comment—

"KYYAA!!"

"NNOOO!!"

Shrill screams erupted from inside the park, echoing like a horror movie gone wrong. It was chaos, laughter, and terror all mixed into one soundtrack that blared across the sky.

Leo glanced sideways at Raphael—who had gone pale and gulped audibly.

"L-Let’s go!" she said with a shaky laugh and walked forward stiffly.

Raphael marched ahead with stiff, robotic arm movements, her body language screaming resistance despite her legs moving forward.

Leo and Ophis followed behind her, trying not to laugh.

At the ticket counter, a man with a mustache and sunglasses looked up lazily.

"Tickets, please?"

"Here, two for us and... a child," Leo replied, sliding the tickets across.

The man’s gaze lifted slowly, and he squinted at Ophis, who stood between them with her arms folded and a deep frown etched on her face.

"Child?" The man raised an eyebrow in confusion, narrowing his eyes at her suspiciously.

He studied Ophis, whose annoyed expression only deepened as she clicked her tongue.

She stood with arms folded, lips pressed tight, and an expression that could only be described as ’murderous honor student.’

"She’s just seven years old," Raphael added, trying to sound as sweet as possible while gently pushing Ophis forward, making sure she was clearly visible.

Ophis staggered slightly and scowled at them both. Honestly, she felt utterly humiliated. Her pride was being stomped into the dirt.

She would’ve rather paid for a shitty overpriced ticket herself than be dragged forward like a kid on display.

She was freaking Vampire!!

And now she was being offered up like a toddler for a free ticket.

She wanted to die.

’This... is the lowest humiliation of my existence...’

Gritting her teeth, she forced her face to soften. Her fingers curled into her palms as she fought back her fury. Her voice came out strained but sweet.

"H-Hello... My name is Ophis," she said, pasting on the most innocent, sugary tone she could manage.

The ticket man blinked in surprise, then smiled. "So sweet... Did you come with your Mommy and Daddy?"

Raphael stiffened instantly, a visible jolt of embarrassment rushing through her as her cheeks flushed pink. Her mouth opened, then closed, then opened again as she tried to form words.

"N-No.. W-We are--"

Before she could dig a deeper hole, Ophis suddenly beamed and wrapped her small arms tightly around Raphael’s hand, and then grabbed Leo’s hand too.

"Yes~ I love Mommy and Daddy~ We’re one big happy family," she sang sweetly.

Raphael’s face turned scarlet in an instant, her lips trembling as she turned sharply to glare at Ophis, whose eyes sparkled with smug amusement.

’Take that woman!! Hehe!’

Leo nearly choked.

Leo... ’The hell are you doing, Ophis? Our relationship is already messed up enough,’ he thought, veins twitching on his forehead.

Ophis smiled even brighter as she caught Leo’s disgruntled expression. Her sharp little teeth peeked through her grin, clearly enjoying the chaos she’d caused.

’Hehe... Look at you both squirm~ Suffer, suffer all you want~’ she thought, laughing silently in her mind.

But the man at the counter tilted his head,

"Are you sure she’s 7? Honestly... she looks like she’s barely 5,"

Ophis’s eyes twitched. Her lips parted.

"MOTHERFU---mfff!!!"

Leo shot forward and clamped his hand over Ophis’s mouth before she could unleash hell, breaking into a nervous laugh.

"Ahaha! Sorry, she’s just... really into adult vocabulary. Shall we go now?"

He forced a dry, panicked laugh, "Haha, well, if that’s all done... can we go now?" His forehead glistened with nervous sweat.

The man raised an eyebrow but eventually nodded, picking up the colored wristbands.

As he reached out to tag Ophis’s wrist, she stared at him. Not just stared—glared.

Her eyes sharpened like blades, lips curled in silent warning. Her expression screamed murder, a deadly silent curse that said, ’Touch me wrong and you’ll never see the light of day again.’

The man gulped hard, his fingers trembling as he carefully tagged her wrist.

"P-Please enjoy our SKY HIGH!" h

He stuttered, practically throwing the pamphlet at them before leaning as far back in his chair as he could.

Raphael and Leo nodded quickly and shuffled into the entrance before Ophis could do more damage.

"Kyyyyyarr!!"

"HOOOOooooo!!"

"HYYYYY~"

Screams echoed from every direction, mingling with the hum of engines and the squeaks of metal tracks. The air smelled of popcorn, sugar, and thrill. A few life-sized toy characters danced nearby, their colorful costumes flapping in the wind.

"Welcome~!" chirped a mascot dressed like a giant monkey, handing out pamphlets as guests walked in.

"Hello cuti---EEEE!!"

The monkey froze mid-sentence. Ophis turned her head slowly, giving him a single, dead-eyed stare that made the costumed man stumble backward.

A single glance that said, ’You speak again, and I will erase your soul.’

The monkey guy quickly turned to the next family. "N-Next! Please enjoy your day!"

Ophis dusted her hands smugly.

"Come. Let’s go," Ophis said firmly, brushing past the stunned monkey. "I heard this place has rides that make you scream your lungs out... Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Let’s hurry~"

She reached back and grabbed Raphael and Leo by the wrists, dragging them forward with surprising force.

Raphael, still dazed from earlier, blushed again. Her voice came out in a whispery squeak.

"O-Ophis, why did you say that earlier... about Mommy and Daddy?"

Ophis gave a tiny shrug without looking back.

"You said only families were allowed for that discount, right? Right now, we look like one... even though I really didn’t want to acknowledge it," she muttered with a sharp sigh, clearly still annoyed.

Raphael turned her face away, cheeks flushing even deeper. Her eyes drifted shyly toward Leo... and her heart skipped when she caught him staring.

The way he looked today... ugh. Why was he so annoyingly good-looking?

Leo exhaled slowly.

’Come on... This day’s just started and I’m already exhausted.’

The amusement had barely begun... but for Leo, the real ride had already started the moment they walked in.

Soon... the party started.

Ophis slowly loosened her grip on Leo’s wrist and looked around, a quiet wonder blooming across her face.

"...It’s kinda beautiful," she whispered.

The sunlight reflected off the spinning rides and shining game stalls, painting her cheeks in a soft glow.

Leo walked beside her, his arms finally relaxing, though his heart was still recovering from that ’Mommy and Daddy’ chaos. "Yeah," he muttered, eyes scanning the towering rides ahead. "Looks dangerous... and loud... and ridiculously fun."

Suddenly, a loud mechanical rumble echoed from above.

The three of them looked up.

A rollercoaster zoomed by on overhead tracks, the cars whipping past like a blur, riders shrieking in half-fear, half-thrill.

Ophis’s eyes widened, her mouth parting slightly as she stared at the massive loop ahead.

"...I want that," she said, pointing without hesitation.

"You want to ride that?" Leo asked, blinking. "That death machine?"

Ophis turned to him with a straight face. "Yes. We will scream... And suffer.... And laugh."

Raphael flinched. "I-I don’t know... that thing’s so high! What if it derails?! What if I fall off and die?!"

Ophis tilted her head slightly, lips curling into a smirk.

"Then die beautifully."

"THAT’S NOT HELPING!!"

But Leo was already being dragged by the hand.

And Ophis? Oh, she was practically vibrating in excitement now. Her steps quickened, eyes sparkling with wild joy. She raced toward the ride’s entrance like a small rocket.

Leo glanced back at Raphael with a soft sigh. "...Come on. If we let her go alone, she will cause a scene."

Raphael groaned but nodded, clutching Leo’s shirt nervously as they followed.

They queued up behind other eager riders, the sounds of clanking metal and screeching wheels growing louder with every step. The closer they got, the more Raphael’s face tightened.

"Maybe we can just watch the view from the top... then skip the drop?" she asked hopefully.

Leo chuckled dryly, "Yeah, try telling that to gravity."

Ophis bounced on her foot.

"This is going to shake our bones. I can’t wait to hear your screams."

Raphael glared at her. "Stop smiling like that! It’s creepy!"

’Where is beautiful elegant girl!!’ she screamed inwardly.

But Ophis just grinned wider, clearly enjoying every second of this.

Eventually, they were strapped in. The bar clicked shut over their laps. The coaster creaked to life beneath them.

"...Too late to run now," Leo muttered.

With a slow groan of machinery, they were pulled up the towering hill.

Click.

Click.

Click.

The ground fell away beneath them, and the sky stretched wide above. The park shrank below, its people turning into tiny ants.

Raphael squeezed her eyes shut. "I-I hate heights... I’m not ready, I wanna get off, I swear if I puke—"

Suddenly—

WHOOSH!

The drop hit like lightning.

Air tore past their ears, wind blasting against their faces as the coaster plunged down the hill at breakneck speed. The track twisted, flipped, looped. Screams ripped from throats—not just from fear, but from shock, laughter, breathless thrill.

"AAAAAAAHHH!!"

Leo yelled first, and Raphael eyes wide as her soul briefly left her body.

"WHYYYYYYY—"

Ophis? She had her hands in the air.

"...." She frowned.

Her face itched disappointment.

She didn’t feel the trill they feeling... it felt blunt.

Honestly, Raphael’s driving was more thrill than this.

By the time it screeched to a stop, Ophis disappointed, Leo laughed and... Raphael immediately moved to rest room covering her mouth.

Leo and Ophis exchanged glance with sigh.

"Wait... You seemed not enjoying what happened?" Leo asked.

"Honestly, I thought it would be enjoyable... sigh... I am disappointed"

Leo blinked in surprise... so she found Raphael’s driving skill was good but this freaking dead end was not?

Where was her logic?

After some time, Raphael came out from the restroom with messy hair, her eyes glossy with tears,

"O-Oh my God... I thought I was gonna die! That was insane! I.. am definitely not doing that!!"

Her legs wobbled as she walked away from the ride.

"B-But I want to go again"

Ophis asked with innocent tone.

Raphael just seeing the machine made her stomach crawl...

"Y-You can go with your big brother, right?"

As she looked at Leo with hopeful expression.

Leo nodded, first he made sure she sat on the bench and he sand Ophis went back to the ride.

"I thought you didn’t like this? What’s with the second round?"

He asked but Ophis just smiled, "Just wait"

"Hm...."

As soon as they get near, just like before, they were strapped in. The bar clicked shut over their laps. The coaster creaked to life beneath them.

With a slow groan of machinery, they were pulled up the towering hill.

Click.

Click.

Click.

The ground fell away beneath them, and the sky stretched wide above.

The coaster stood at the top, and Ophis snapped her fingers a red spark flickered under the coaster as the breaking and chain mechanism feel down.

The controller lost it’s operation.

Ophis thrilling caught the bar with cheeky smile, "Now for the fun~"

Leo sensed something wrong the way the coaster trembling to move he turned to Ophis who gave him a cheeky innocent smile, "hehe~"

Leo’s face turned dread, "Don’t tell me you---!!!"

Suddenly—

WHOOOOSSSSSH!

"KYYYYAAAAAAA!!!!!"

"NNNOOOOO!!"

"AAAAAAARHHHHHH!!!"

Leo’s face turned horrified as he held Ophis tightly and while Ophis chuckled and laughed enjoying the fast and furious~

Seeing them from the below, Raphael, vomited again... just how fast the machine goes!!
