Chapter 343: [343] Life is Beautiful
After sacrificing poor Doggo-chan, the women finally calmed down and began to admire each other’s outfits.
"Hmm, not bad." The first to cast aside shame and comment was the ever-dense King of Knights, Artoria, who didn’t spare a single thought mourning Cú Chulainn’s demise.
"Not just ’not bad’—it’s amazing!" Her modern-day Master, Ritsuka Fujimaru, quickly followed up, excitedly checking out her own orange and white two-piece swimsuit—specifically designed by Sakatsuki for tropical regions and widely known in FGO as the "Brilliant Summer" Mystic Code.
Ritsuka had clearly noticed the swimsuit’s built-in powers too.
Tugging at the fabric in excitement, she reached out mischievously and grabbed her kouhai, who was now also clad in a new outfit.
"Hey, Mash-chan changed too! Ehehe... Let me see!"
"Senpai, please have some decency!" Compared to Ritsuka’s boldness, Mash was far more modest. She wore a pure white dress with red embroidery along the hem, a large bow accentuating her ample chest—like a delicate white flower blooming on the beach.
"A top-tier warrior should always adapt to the situation and dress accordingly," Artoria mused while curiously inspecting her appearance. "Still, for the Grail to alter our Spirit Origins to suit this environment so well... its power really is incredible."
Even here in Chaldea, Artoria stuck to her beloved blue-and-white color scheme. Like Ritsuka, she wore a two-piece swimsuit, and with her armor off, her figure finally showcased a feminine elegance. The swimsuit gave her a different beauty from her usual gallant aura as the King of Knight.
What drew the most attention, however, was the iconic sword of King Arthur—Excalibur—held in her left hand. And in her right... a plastic-looking water gun?
"Hm? Something wrong?"
Noticing everyone staring, Artoria proudly introduced her new weapon, "I found this at a water park once. As a knight, I must always be well-armed, right?"
What the heck is that logic?! She pulled out that bizarre gun with complete seriousness!
And it totally screamed summer. Too shameless!
Mordred, seething with inner rage, felt like a kindergarten kid seeing someone else bring the toy she’d always wanted but never got. Her eyes flashed with disbelief, jealousy, and pure frustration.
But she wasn’t one to back down easily.
Guess I’ll have to use that. Among all King Arthur’s belongings, there was one thing that could double as a boat—a shield... which she had secretly swiped!
"Yeah... Yeah! Weapons need an upgrade too! Time for me to bring out my prized possession!"
Clad in a bikini, Mordred muttered to herself and suddenly pulled out a shield—or was that a surfboard?
The patterns on the surfboard were unmistakably similar to Avalon, the lost sheath of Excalibur!
Neither looked at the other directly, but the tension between Mordred and Artoria instantly thickened. Ritsuka, well-versed in reading the mood, quickly hid behind Mash to avoid getting caught in the chaos.
"They’re not even speaking, but they’re definitely having a conversation..." Mash sighed, facepalming.
"Still such a terrible relationship..." Ritsuka echoed. "No telling what might happen if we interfere. Let’s just observe quietly."
That’s just your excuse for not wanting to get involved!
"Alright, alright. I’ll go with this." Tamamo-no-Mae broke the tension, drawing everyone’s attention. She might not have had the boldest look, but she was definitely the most fashionable.
With an oversized straw hat, a floatie around her waist, and a sun umbrella shaped like a lance, her appearance was both stylish and playful. Her most prized figure was modestly hidden under a white T-shirt, hinting at curves beneath—leaving just enough for imagination, especially if the sea soaked through.
"If you can’t beat the heat, then enjoy it. If the sun’s too strong, use it. That’s what it means to be a capable woman~ What do you think, Master?" Tamamo-no-Mae shot Ritsuka a wink.
"The mature lady who wields a parasol like a spear, Lancer Tamamo is now in for Summer~!"
Next to her stood Kiyohime, now in summer mode. Even so, she wore an elegant kimono of white, gold, and black—though clearly, a bikini lay underneath. The dignified outfit now carried an enticing charm, accentuated by the wild fervor in her golden eyes.
"On a southern island! Just the two of us! In swimsuits!"
Kiyohime’s voice rang like a haiku, passionately proclaiming her burning love.
"This must be that kind of situation—not shipwrecked, not surviving on a deserted island... This is definitely... a pre-wedding honeymoon..."
"Hehehe... hehehehe... hehehehehehehe..."
If I leave Kiyohime like this, I will die here...Ritsuka wiped away a cold sweat and dragged Mash away from the brewing storm, fleeing toward the magical girls.
Surely the kids would be more peaceful—AS IF!
"You disgusting pervert! Freak! Die, you degenerate!"
BOOM!
Mana blasts exploded like they were free of charge, kicking up a sandstorm that plastered Ritsuka’s face. Dazed, she could only stare blankly at the chaotic scene before her.
"W-What just happened...?"
On the beach ahead, a young man in a Hawaiian shirt was fleeing for dear life. Behind him, Illya—clad in a blue polka-dot swimsuit—was in hot pursuit, waving her Ruby wand and radiating absurd magical energy.
"It’s... it’s because of her, senpai." Mash, blushing furiously, pointed shakily at a certain figure. Ritsuka followed her gaze—and spotted two girls, one in red-and-white, the other in pink swimsuits, flanking a third figure protectively like mother hens.
And between Miyu and Kuro was—
"Wait... a string bikini?!"
Ritsuka gawked. Practically dressed in nothing but strips of cloth, Draco stood proudly, completely unfazed. It was scandalously revealing—even for a childlike figure!
No wonder Illya lost it!
This outfit... this is just...
"Um, senpai?"
"It’s just too glorious!" Ritsuka beamed, giving a thumbs up. "Thanks for the treat!"
"Senpai! Ritsuka-senpai!" Blushing and angry, Mash smacked Ritsuka on the head. "Stop saying this kind of nonsense and pull yourself together!"
"This isn’t my fault!" Meanwhile, still dodging a barrage of magical fire, Sakatsuki looked utterly fed up. "This was the Grail’s doing—not something I could control!"
"It’s still your fault for kidnapping Draco!" Illya shouted, clearly beyond reason. Past and present grudges would all be settled today.
Just then, the sky darkened, and a deafening boom rang out.
"...What the?" Ritsuka felt a chill on her cheek. She wiped it, then looked up.
Raindrops—silver and soft—began to fall, growing heavier and larger until they pelted the ground with wet, solid thunks.
After five scorching days, the tropical island was finally getting rain.
And with it, the dream of a carefree vacation was shattered—forcing everyone to face a cruel reality:
They hadn’t built a single shelter.
"Hurry, senpai! Under my shield!"
"But what about Illya and the others? It won’t cover everyone!"
"Hey, there’s a cave at the cliffside! Over here!" Mordred shouted from nearby, and everyone rushed to cram into the tiny cave before getting completely soaked.
Except for Draco, who had stopped somewhere along the way, refusing to move. She scoffed, and above her head appeared a glowing diamond-shaped shield, blocking all the rain.
A hand gently stroked her hair. The young man took off his Hawaiian shirt and draped it over her shoulders with a smile.
"Even I think that outfit’s a bit much."
"Thou dislikest it?"
"Heh, maybe wait until you hit Third Ascension before trying something like this." Sakatsuki rolled his eyes, then picked up the tiny Draco. Shielded by a soft blue barrier, the two walked calmly through the downpour.
"Come. What kind of house do you want to build?"
"Hmm... Let me think..."
