Chapter 981: Chapter 593 Conspiracy_3

"I don’t know what the General may be lacking, but if there is anything at all the Selcok family can do, we will spare no effort," Mickros was somewhat unable to fathom Goste’s thoughts.

"As for your favor, I’ll owe it for now, and since the Castellan has denied your proposal, I couldn’t possibly go against his elder, sending troops to aid you. However, I can show you a clear path. Whether it will succeed, though, will depend on you," Goste certainly wouldn’t tell Mickros that simply muddying the situation in the Goblin Margins was very advantageous to him. It was precisely during times of instability that a general would take center stage, not during peaceful times.

As for whether the Conqueror Army would be defeated in the Goblin Margins or would uproot the local forces there, it made no significant difference to him.

"Please speak, General," Mickros’s mind unwittingly stirred, guessing what the other might intend.

"We in Dark Castle are not the only power in the Goblin Margins. In Tun Marsh, there is a Black Dragon named Kurgor, who has gathered all the sage races of the marsh to form her own Royal Court and army. She has proclaimed herself the Lizard Queen. I believe she would be very interested in your proposal, and the Tun Marsh is a necessary path for the Conqueror Army," Goste didn’t need to elaborate much, merely pointing out this was a force controlled by a Giant Dragon was enough.

Mickros instantly understood. Convincing such powers didn’t require any noble reasons; merely displaying the wealth carried by the Conqueror Army would be sufficient as the Giant Dragon’s greed would dominate everything.

For hundreds of thousands, or even tens of thousands, of Gold Coins, many dragons would commit acts like slaughtering entire villages. Not to mention, the wealth of the Conqueror Army started in the tens of millions.

"I wonder, what age stage is this Black Dragon in? How many troops does she possess?" Now Mickros wasn’t worried about persuading them, but whether they had the capability to take down the Conqueror Army.

"She is at least of an old age stage. Centuries ago, she was seen active in Tun Marsh. As for how many troops she can muster, that’s unknown. No force in the Goblin Margins is worth her summoning all her forces, but it’s certain that a large tribe of Barbarians and three Lizardfolk Tribes have sworn allegiance to her. For more detailed information, you will need to make your way to the Lizard Queen’s Court in Tun Marsh," Goste emphasized before concluding, "Once you reach the Lizard Queen’s Court, absolutely do not mention that you visited Dark Castle first and were stymied here before going there. Doing so could very likely result in your efforts being wasted."

His implication was clear, Dark Castle was not on good terms with the Lizard Queen’s Court.

Sure enough, if both forces wished to dominate the Goblin Margins, the relationship would definitely be tense.

Mickros’s gaze flickered, coming as he did from Sambia, a commercial alliance filled with intense internal strife. Surrounded by countless conspiracies from childhood, a bold guess formed in his mind. The ruler and officials of Dark Castle might be staging a drama for him to watch, aiming to steer him towards the Lizard Queen’s Court in Tun Marsh.

The purpose went without saying—to let the Lizard Queen’s Court and the Conqueror Army fight a deadly battle, while they sat back and took advantage of the situation. Regardless of which side lost or won, Dark Castle would bear no loss.

However, given the tense relations between Dark Castle and the Lizard Queen’s Court, they couldn’t possibly trust their own envoy, making him, the envoy from Sambia, the perfect candidate.

The more he thought, the closer Mickros felt he was to the true nature of the situation. The followers of the God of Conspiracy at Dark Castle were preparing to use him as a pawn—a testament to their conspiratorial nature seeping into their very bones.

Yet, he had no choice; even though he knew their schemes, he must personally go to the Lizard Queen’s Court. This task was of utmost importance, involving not only the immense interests of the Sambiyan Kingdom but also closely related to the century-long plans of his Selcok family in the Sambiyan Kingdom.

Should he succeed in inflicting heavy damages on the Conqueror Army, his family, the Selcoks, could take advantage and suppress the Yamast family, elevating his father, Councilor Kendrick, to the position of Great Commander of Sambia.

Conversely, should he fail, the Yamast family would certainly seize the opportunity to attack. Even if they did not completely uproot the Selcok family, they would still severely suppress and even break them apart, delaying their rise. This was the true intent behind that old fox, Oudes, forcing this task upon Councilor Kendrick.

Mickros’s mind churned with thoughts, yet his words remained exceptionally respectful, humbly asking for advice, "General, besides this, is there anything else I need to be cautious about?"

"Indeed, there is," Goste was generous with the information he held, saying truthfully, "First, you must treat her and her Royal Court with the true respect due to a queen. It is said that she only accepts the titles ’Queen’ or ’Your Majesty’; any other titles are considered insults, and anyone who offends Kurgor will become her after-dinner snack.

Secondly, prepare a significant amount of wealth and food, especially the latter. Doing so will buy you some time and keep you from being eaten immediately.

Lastly, prepare a large amount of additional wealth to bribe the various officials of the Lizard Queen’s Court to ensure you can reach the Lizard Queen to state your request instead of being turned away and then robbed as an easy mark.

Also, do not attempt to fly directly into Tun Marsh to find the Lizard Queen. This is seen as the most severe insult and is likely to leave no room for negotiation. As for why, you will understand once you meet the Lizard Queen.

That is all the information I have. Whether or not you can meet the Lizard Queen and persuade her to aid you will rely on your own skills."
