Chapter 973: Chapter 591: Setting Off Again

In a dangerous world fraught with frequent battles, the number of amputees was a horrifying figure, shocking the ruling class of the Giant Dragon Coast; they pursued and blocked those who actively joined the Conqueror Army, yet as the Conqueror Army set off again, an additional three thousand amputees had joined them.

The measures of the rulers of the Giant Dragon Coast addressed the symptoms but not the root cause; they could obstruct the amputees temporarily, but not forever. As long as these individuals harbored a strong desire to heal their severed limbs, they would inevitably find ways to join the Conqueror Army—even if it meant seizing future opportunities to apply for inclusion in the Valley—unless they were offered the same free Regeneration Technique as provided by the Conqueror Army.

Of course, the treatment offered by the Conqueror Army was not truly free, especially for those receiving the Regeneration Technique. Based on the resources spent on them, the Conqueror Army had employment contracts of varying lengths, from as short as three years to as long as twenty years, during which they were required to serve the Conqueror Army’s dispatches unconditionally.

Since these employment contracts were based on normal salaries, those signing them saw the treatment as free and regarded working for the Conqueror Army as a natural duty. It just now involved an additional binding employment agreement.

When the Conqueror Army initially left Darama, they counted eighteen thousand individuals. Along the way, particularly in Ruitawen, they welcomed over a thousand new members, and by the time they reached Efanso—after merging with the Blood Claw Legion and three major Gnoll Battalions Brigade—their numbers had swelled to around twenty-one thousand.

When they departed from Efanso, their numbers had more than doubled.

Of these, seven thousand came from Efanso Citizens, ten thousand from war reparations from the Giant Dragon Bay, three thousand from the amputees who came of their own accord, and more than two thousand from self-recruited forces in various major cities before hostilities with the ruling powers of the Giant Dragon Coast.

The original hundred-man squads of the Conqueror Army had already exceeded their numbers, and this was an opportunity to restructure. Using the old soldiers to lead the new, immigrants from Darama were mixed half and half with those from the Giant Dragon Coast. The hundred-man squads were expanded from a hundred to three hundred, and vehicle allocations were similar to when they first set out, including the number of Tower War Chariots and Flank Pioneer Vehicles, each soaring from one hundred to three hundred, naturally transported directly from Mesnoel through the Shadow Drag capability.

Thus, as the people of the Giant Dragon Coast watched an endless stream of vehicles departing from Efanso, they couldn’t help but wonder—did the Conqueror Army have so many colossal war chariots originally? Or did they build them on the spot in Efanso? If so, the construction speed was incredibly fast.

Once they had a populace base, the Conqueror Army naturally saw a fresh round of expansions.

The Nort Heavy Cavalry was enlarged from twelve hundred to fifteen hundred members, and while numbers increased, the most significant changes were in their equipment. Efanso was, after all, a city of trade, and both governmental and private equipment stores were thoroughly plundered by the Conqueror Army, ensuring the Nort Heavy Cavalry were truly armored from head to toe, some even replacing their gear with Magic Armor.

The numbers in the Flank Pioneer Army remained unchanged at two thousand, but half were new recruits; the other half were selected to form a second Flank Pioneer Army, named the Pioneer Army of the Founders, to signify their creation of this corps structure.

The second Flank Pioneer Army was named the Limb Severing Vanguard, as its main forces consisted of Combat Profession Practitioners who had healed from the Regeneration Technique. They used this name to honor their past and remember the grace shown to them by the Conqueror Army.

The Golia Brigade and the Hobgoblin Giant Brigade maintained their numbers unchanged. Given their origins and combat power, it was extremely challenging to supplement their forces, but they were prioritized for equipment due to racial characteristics.

The two demonstrated their differences stemming from racial traits.

The Golia Brigade prioritized acquiring powerful Magic Weapons to further enhance their Attack Power, followed by auxiliary magic items to boost their diverse capabilities and survivability, advancing further on the path of assault corps.

The Hobgoblin Giant Brigade wouldn’t turn down suitable Armor, arming themselves with everything they could find. Many transformed themselves into iron-clad tanks, and with their colossal Body Types on the battlefield, they became mini humanoid tanks. To harm them, one had to breach their massive and thick Armor first. Their development was comprehensive, capable in both offense and defense, and together with the colossal mounts of the Giant Plains, they could serve as super Heavy Cavalry.

Led by Darnell, the Holy Warriors of the Just Hammer didn’t form their own corps but served as battlefield Heal troops, dispersing into all the corps, even those of the migrating hundred-man squads.

This arrangement was beneficial for both parties; the Conqueror Army gained Healing and divine Spell support from these Holy Warriors, who, in turn, mingled with the Conqueror Army’s populace and evaluated the warriors, selecting potential candidates to become Holy Warriors.
