Chapter 959: Chapter 586: The Heritage of an Established Deity_2
"Dealing with such a special Undead Legion, a regular corps is at a distinct disadvantage. We need the True Shadow Brigade and the Nightshades; our current pace of development is still too slow." Even after absorbing the Necromancer Efanso and Dilila’s main Power of Revenge, Gaven thought the strength of Weizemay Manor had swollen quite a bit and that he could rest easy. He hadn’t expected that even more powerful enemies were lurking in the shadows.
It must be said that the timing of provoking the Undying Goddess of Vengeance Wensori was spot-on, affording him ample time to grow and accumulate power. If he had provoked her now, he’d definitely be in over his head.
"The manor’s previous power accumulation relied either on enemies brazenly attacking us or purely on the Undead Vengeance Realm granted by Lord," Daphne said, her gaze uncontrollably falling once again on the Undead Divine Spark, "but now that we have it, we can break through those limitations."
"Oh?" Gaven perked up, "What good method do you have? Let’s hear it."
"Finding a suitable vessel to infuse the Undead Divine Spark into should result in an ability similar to the Undead Realm. It could envelop the souls of those who die within its reach and bring them all back to Weizemay Manor," Daphne replied quickly. "This method should not affect the use of the Divine Nature Spark. If we wish to integrate it into someone, it can be extracted at any time. The only flaw is that by doing so, we’re not only snatching the Undying Goddess of Vengeance’s power but also that of Death itself. It’s also easy for those in the know to recognize the Divine Nature Spark, which could bring unnecessary trouble upon us."
"We can’t stop planting beans just because a rabbit squeals. When compared with rapid development, some risks must be taken; we just need to be extra cautious when using it. We will only target monstrosities, ensuring not to disturb the souls of the Sage Race. Should any be absorbed by mistake, we’ll immediately release them." As Gaven’s strength increased, so too did his audacity—to the point of meddling with the prerogatives of the Gods.
This was a necessity, an inevitable development upon reaching a certain level of power. Unless he completely abstained from tapping into such power, infringing upon a portion of the Gods’ interests was inevitable. He only had to ensure that he didn’t antagonize all the Gods and that those who protected him were more powerful than the ones against him.
It was uncertain how the other Gods would react, but if any God wanted to strike him down covertly, Lady Strategy would undoubtedly do everything to protect him, for their interests were too heavily intertwined.
While she was currently only a Demigod, she had a very devoted father, a master of indulgence towards his daughter. This was Gaven’s ace in the hole—his capital.
After Daphne mentioned the vessel, Gaven immediately took out the sub-divine artifact, Whore Slayer, to ask, "What do you think of this?"
"Whore Slayer?"
"How could it have such a bizarre name? Is this actually a Divine Artifact?"
"Could it have been made from the essence of those skeletal monsters by the Lord?"
"Need you ask? Of course it was. Destroying Evil is the Lord’s most powerful ability, easily converting the enemy’s strength for his own use."
Estelle and the others noticed the name Fine Gold Hammer the moment they laid eyes on it; it was hard to overlook, boldly engraved on the hammer’s surface.
They initially wanted to laugh, but the laughter was instantly stifled by the weapon’s powerful Divine aura.
They had already witnessed Gaven’s power to Destroy Evil on more than one occasion, even reaping the benefits themselves, yet each new product of his still managed to astound them.
Such ability was typical of a zero-sum game; his evil adversaries would weaken with each strike, while he grew ever stronger. The Undying Goddess of Vengeance was a classic example.
The more Daphne looked, the more familiar the weapon in Gaven’s hands seemed, until she couldn’t help but exclaim in shock, "Lord, could this artifact possibly be crafted from the Coffin of Sealing that was used to imprison the Divine Child, Elvis?"
"Yes," Gaven nodded, admitting outright as he shared the Fine Gold Hammer’s attributes with them.
"Hisss... This is the greatest boon of the battle, group attacks, supportive attacks, targeted attacks—it truly has it all, truly worthy of the name Divine Artifact."
"This weapon was specifically designed for the Undying Goddess of Vengeance and her followers. I would love to see their expressions when faced with this weapon."
Daphne replied continuously, "This weapon couldn’t be more suitable. It naturally possesses the ability to seal Undead Divinity. After merging the Undead Divine Spark into it, its aura should be partly concealed, making it less likely to be detected as long as we refrain from employing that particular facet of it.
The most crucial part is that both the weapon itself and the source of its power stem entirely from the Undying Goddess of Vengeance. Although it is aimed at her, it still falls within the realm of revenge. Should the Undead Divine Spark be integrated into it, it’s very likely it could be upgraded from a sub-divine artifact to a divine artifact, unlocking a host of new abilities."
"Then that’s settled," Gaven decided without hesitation. Everything Daphne had mentioned had instantly occurred to him as well.
This gift was indeed the most precious of all that the followers of the Undying Goddess of Vengeance had sent this time.
The item didn’t just embody the Divine essence extracted from the Deformed Divine Effigy of the Undying Goddess of Vengeance but also an immense Force of Destiny.
