Chapter 858: Chapter 552 Dark Alliance_3
"What do you think the noble rulers are like?"
"Aren’t you afraid that before you even start warring with the Conqueror Army, you’ll start clashing with these noble rulers?"
"Aren’t you afraid that the common citizens will unite against you?"
"Secret manipulation is the foundation of our operation. Even in assembling military forces, it is not we who do so, but we compel the appearance of rulers to do so, guarding our city is their holy and inescapable duty."
The person was clad in a purple figure-hugging robe, which perfectly displayed her exquisite figure. The mask she wore was not the Faceless one, but that of a Fox Mask. The exposed eyes were typical of a fox’s, every move exuded a soul-stirring charm, and her perfectly curved red lips were painted with bright red lipstick, looking exceptionally enchanting.
"Lady Zi speaks true wisdom," said another. "To remain hidden behind the scenes is the wisest choice. Should we succeed, we all rejoice; and should we fail, those merchant nobles will bear the brunt, leaving us without any loss."
"We can definitely strike from both ends, both urging those merchant nobles to form military forces to pose a direct threat to the Conqueror Army and also secretly organizing an Elite force, creating an assassin squad to pressure them from the flank, making them think twice before rash actions."
"We can certainly make contact with Efanso’s Arms, providing them connections, let them clash with the Conqueror Army over there, ideally resulting in both sides suffering heavy losses."
"Foolishness," another countered. "Such playing with fire, if we are the slightest bit careless, can bring disaster upon ourselves. I believe you have all witnessed firsthand the terrible extent of the plague virus previously unleashed by Arms. If it spreads widely in the city, the damage will be catastrophic. If the Conqueror Army manages to eradicate it, all is well, but if the Conqueror Army’s attack on Efanso fails, allowing those Necromancers to gain a mass of corpses, the consequences are clear without my explanation, right? It could even trigger an undead plague on our Giant Dragon Coast, causing a catastrophic impact on all cities. At that point, the harm it will do to us will be ten times that of the Conqueror Army."
"That’s right, we can use all methods except for employing those Necromancers from Efanso. We must stand firmly on the side of the living in this matter, even if the Conqueror Army poses a threat to our interests. The nature of the conflict changes when the Undead get involved."
"Isn’t the Conqueror Army heading to the Valley? We can use this as bait, leveraging our superior maritime capability to transport them across to Dragon Lake, letting them wreak havoc in Sambia, which will save them a lot of time and effort."
"This proposal is far too fanciful—have you forgotten who you are? Would they trust a bunch of Pirates with their goods and people for transport, without fearing that they’ll end up with nothing?"
"We could try it. Even if it doesn’t succeed, we have nothing to lose."
"I wonder if Lord Faceless has any better suggestions?"
Any observant person could see that the enchanting woman known as Lady Zi was clearly the spokesperson for the Night King. The words she uttered were as if coming from the Faceless himself, compelling these leaders of the Dark Forces to pay serious attention.
Furthermore, her suggestions were exceptionally pertinent, scratching the itch of many leaders.
The reason why the Elite forces assembling proposal put forth by the Purple Mask leader met with fierce opposition was that it severely conflicted with their past modus operandi.
While Giant Dragon Coast was a haven for evil, it was not yet a living Hell, filled with devilish brutes. If that was the case, the basis for any rule would have crumbled, and the place would be in ruins.
The majority were still relatively good-natured, easily governed and sheared commonplace citizens. The truly vicious were the minority and could only manipulate from the shadows; once exposed, even if the citizens of Giant Dragon Coast didn’t unite to overthrow them, heroes from other countries and cities would not stand idle.
Felen was never short of such presences, especially the Harpist Guild known for their meddlesome nature. The Valley was their headquarters, with their spies active in many cities, particularly in West Gate, forever a focus of their attention.
If they discovered that the entirety of Giant Dragon Coast’s Dark Forces were preparing an Allied Army, they would certainly not ignore it.
In contrast, covertly manipulating merchant rulers to carry out activities according to their own Will was what they were most adept at and most commonly used.
"So you all have no objections to secretly encouraging the major cities to assemble city militias?" Lady Zi asked again, her gaze primarily on the leaders of the Light of Posku and Astorian, two major forces.
They represented Posku City and Taixir City, respectively, along with Efanso and West Gate, they were the four core cities of the Giant Dragon Coast.
As long as they firmly support this strategy, the rest of the smaller towns would naturally follow suit.
"We in Posku have no problems," a female voice replied from the darkness, her true face obscured as well as her figure, almost like a Ghost. This person was the leader of the Light of Posku.
"Taixir has no problem, either," a gloomy male voice responded.
"We have no objections."
"I agree as well."
One after another, the others voiced their approval.
