Chapter 796: Chapter 532: The Power of My Contemplation_1
After Gaven was connected to the basement, Gos grabbed a stool and sat boldly at the entrance of the inn, personally guarding it.
Gos didn’t care or ask about what Gaven was actually doing underneath the inn, because if the Lord needed him to know, he would naturally have told him. Since he hadn’t, it surely meant that it was not necessary for him to know.
Curiosity could destroy a Gnoll. To become a good Gnoll, one had to control their own curiosity, especially when their master placed them in an important position.
This was the first principle of Gos the Gnoll’s philosophy of success, which he had recently improved upon by combining his own experiences with the knowledge he had learned from Humans.
The Lord had entrusted the Stone Stallion Inn to him with the purpose of keeping its secrets.
And the best way to guard a secret was not to know what the secret was, so naturally, there was no way to divulge it.
When Gaven once again entered the secret room of the Stone Stallion Inn, the Phantom-like figure had already been waiting there. Upon seeing Gaven, it blurted out, "Why have you only just arrived?"
The wistful air that flowed from within was just like that of a girl who had been waiting for a date with her boyfriend, only to have him show up terribly late.
Gaven repeatedly apologized, "I’m sorry, the migration plan that I told you about before, we’ve already officially launched it. We ran into a bit of trouble on the Giant Plains, some finishing up tasks got delayed."
Gaven didn’t need to hide much from Philancy due to her special state.
During their last exchange, he had shared many plans that were hidden in his heart with Philancy, even more than he had shared with Virginia and Zalanda.
It wasn’t about trust, but that they had their own territories to be responsible for and couldn’t deeply participate in these plans.
Philancy, being a Legendary Arcanist, had ample ability and insight to offer him advice; even offhand remarks might inspire even better ideas.
"Is the migration plan going smoothly?" Philancy seemed to realize that there was something off with her own attitude and tone, and quickly shifted the focus, both for him and for herself.
"Even smoother than expected. Let me open up for you to see, we can watch and talk at the same time," Gaven said, using memory projection to share a condensed version of the past half month’s experiences with Philancy.
He then set out the carefully prepared food and drinks from the Portable Dimensional Hole, all steaming as if they had just come out of the pot.
As a Dimensional Hole is an alternate dimension, time within is essentially still, so most things come out just as they went in.
"Good." Philancy seemed more relaxed and at ease than the last time, as in her heart, she had come to understand this young man better.
The contingency Gaven had set up last time had started to take effect.
The illusions he prepared for Philancy were all centered on him as the main character or from his perspective, letting her deepen her understanding of him while also fostering a greater sense of identification.
The five Aftertaste cocktails were the only emotional embellishment in her nearly month-long solitary life, continuously fermenting, fermentation upon fermentation, with the speed of the burgeoning affections growing faster than Philancy—or even Gaven—had imagined.
This could be felt from the way she looked at him as he walked through the door.
Had she not possessed enough control, they might have kissed as soon as he entered the door.
In fact, Philancy had understood Gaven’s intentions from the moment she had her first sip of the Aftertaste cocktail.
But she couldn’t refuse this emotional poison, because in that lonely environment, only it made the days easier to bear and provided hope to forge ahead.
It had been the fastest month she had experienced since her imprisonment, without exception.
When the part of her heart that belonged to refusal disappeared, the emotional poison was no longer poison, but a delightful wine of affection, each glass offering an endless aftertaste.
Initially, Philancy watched Gaven’s projections just wanting to take the opportunity to see the changes in the Material Plane and to observe his experiences, but she was quickly drawn in by the scenarios within.
Even for a Legendary Arcanist like her, the things Gaven had done on the migration route far exceeded her knowledge.
Paving roads tens of kilometers a day.
A group of Transcendents not only destroyed a Demon Portal, but even ambushed and killed a Legendary Six-armed Snake Demon, turning it into an even more powerful Nightshadow.
Not only did they sever a tentacle arm from the Demon Prince Di Gaomorgan, but they also consumed it completely, in exchange for the True Name of that Legendary Six-armed Snake Demon.
He used a multitude of Gnolls to cultivate an extraordinary Gnoll Queen.
He had a flock of Hobgoblins swear allegiance to him, invoking a True God Blood Oath and generating a host of Hobgoblin Giants and Blood Oath Warlords.
Any one of these events was extraordinary enough that she couldn’t have managed it herself even if she were not confined.
Yet this young man had achieved them all in less than a month.
The energy he exhibited had completely surpassed the understanding she had previously formed of him; it was already outdated.
As they watched, Gaven too was not idle, actively sharing with Philancy about special templates.
After a few seconds of reflection, the Legendary Arcanist said, "Your analysis is right, but not comprehensive. You’ve missed one thing, and that’s the issue of the Magic Response."
