Chapter 788: Chapter 531 Blood Oath Banner_1
The methods of obtaining this template are diverse and unique, with no duplicates.
No, the methods they obtain it through are not the same, but the underlying reason is consistent, which is belief, pure belief. It’s just that due to different races, what they believe in is each different.
Gnolls believe in Giant Dragons, thus they gained the ability for Dragonization.
Golia believes in mountains, thus they gained Earth Resonance.
The Yalings revered the Fairy Wilderness, thus they became Yaling Nobility.
The Hobgoblins worship war and believe in the Great Power, thus they became Blood Oath Warlords.
It’s not solely about belief, if it were that simple, then those devout priests would have unlocked special templates one after another, and this would also require a response from the magic power of the Material Plane. The entity previously responding to these Hobgoblins was this land right under their feet, which they trampled repeatedly and ruled over, with Maglubiyet merely being a medium.
Gaven felt he had found the thread leading to the special template, and from then on he had a strategy to use, allowing for planned, mass unlocking in the future.
That was for the future, currently, his focus was still on the transformations of Blood Claw.
The other four special abilities of Blood Claw were all related to the army, and both Power of the Army and Body of the Army had a clever similarity to Kellysha’s Earth Force and Earth Body.
To fully awaken these abilities, it was necessary to be in an army composed of Hobgoblins. At that time, his combat effectiveness would soar, making the title of warlord truly deserved.
Moreover, Blood Claw was not the only one to become a Blood Oath Warlord; there were a total of eight others, five of which hailed from the ranks of the Hobgoblin Giants, and the remaining three were among the earliest followers from the Blood Oath Army.
There were also some who had activated only parts of it, gaining some attribute enhancement, as well as either the advantage of Power of the Army or the ability of Blood Oath Inspiration. Most of these individuals were found among the Hobgoblin Giants.
Those ordinary Hobgoblins who received significant upgrades were those who experienced a surge in height, gaining the Large Size template, and received an increase in additional attribute points, which led to a sharp rise in the number of Hobgoblin Giants in the Blood Claw Legion, breaking through the number of five hundred.
There were also some Hobgoblins, whose size did not surge but acquired the Enlarge spell as a spell-like ability, with one to three uses per day. This was the most common occurrence, accounting for more than half of the ordinary Hobgoblins in the entire Blood Oath Army.
Even though the Enlarge spell is one of the most common spells on the battlefield, the rate of ownership among the Blood Oath Army was too high, creating an impressively intimidating presence.
Hobgoblins already average over one meter ninety in height, surpassing most sentient beings, and once enlarged they will reach over three and a half meters. An army of such stature, when charging in groups, will terrify most opposing forces with their mere presence alone.
This raises a new issue: Hobgoblins with this ability must either wear Magic Armor or no armor at all to utilize this ability, as ordinary armor will not enlarge along with them.
The dual blood-red light columns falling on the speaking platform were not just one, but two, the other being no less than the one on Blood Claw herself.
Instead of falling on Gaven, this light column hit the Dragon Oak Blood Claw Flag above Blood Claw’s head.
Once the blood-red light was completely absorbed, the Dragon Oak Blood Claw Flag astonishingly split into two; one remained above Blood Claw’s head, while the other moved above Gaven’s.
Just as Gaven had hoped, flags capable of gathering a large amount of belief were the most likely to spontaneously transform into Magic Items.
For this reason, not only did they research and develop their own standard, but they also chose extraordinary materials.
The flag bestowed upon Blood Claw was no exception; it utilized the newest products and techniques of their territory. The front still shone with the dazzling Radiance Cloth, while the backing was made from the Shadow Weave produced by the Ghost Textile Factory. The design on it was no longer painted, but rather embroidered with a brand-new technique, using shadow thread to stitch it bit by bit, layer by layer.
This not only gave it a stronger sense of depth but also made it a Magic Item right from its creation. The previous enlargement projection was an innate ability it possessed. The user could turn it on or suppress it according to their will without spending any magical energy.
Now, it had unlocked two new special abilities.
Blood Oath Summoning (Special Ability) — You can summon your oath-sworn army through this banner. No matter where those soldiers are, they will respond to the summons. As the primary and secondary flags, when the primary flag issues a summons, the secondary flag bearer will sense it. He can make a designated army respond, and if there’s no response within ten minutes, a random summon will be initiated within the Blood Oath Army. For Transcendents and above, the summoning number is Charisma modifier divided by ten; for those below Transcendent, the number is Charisma modifier divided by a hundred. It can be summoned once per day, lasting for eight hours. This ability can only be used when held by the Blood Oath’s object of allegiance, Gaven Nort.
Rallying Army Spirit (Special Ability) — Any Goblin-class creature that can see the army flag will gain a morale boost of +1. All attack rolls and damage rolls will receive a +1 bonus. For enemy Goblin-class creatures, the opposite effect occurs. If Goblin-class enemy morale is too low, there’s a chance for large-scale surrender or defection, joining your ranks.
The first ability is exclusive to the main flag in Gaven’s hands; the second ability is present in both flags.
