Chapter 786: Chapter 530: City Granting Ceremony_2

"Long live Baron Gaven!" This was the frenzied call of the Hobgoblin from the Blood Claw Legion.

"Long live Baron Gaven!" This was the shout from the migrating army.

"Long live Baron Gaven!" This was the unanimous cry of everyone present.

While there might have been arranged elements in this, more of it stemmed from within their hearts, just as Gaven had said—they were creating miracles, and they themselves were the creators of miracles, whether it was building roads as they traveled or constructing a Hobgoblin city leveraged by the terrain in a mere ten days, not to mention they had just routed a demonic army from the Abyssal Plane.

Previously, such episodes were beyond their wildest dreams, let alone experiencing them in a mere half month’s time.

And all this had been brought to them by the man before their eyes.

They had complete faith in his promise to bring everyone to the valley and establish their own city. What difficulty could be worse than a demonic army? They had survived that ordeal, what else could they not face?

Seeing the atmosphere easily ignited, Gaven once again solemnly called out in a loud voice, "Where is Blood Claw?"

"At your service." The robust Hobgoblin warlord, striding like a tiger and stepping like a dragon, came to Gaven’s side, knelt on one knee, and placed his hands with utmost respect on his raised knee.

Gaven drew his longsword and placed it atop Blood Claw’s head, saying, "I now knight you in the name of Gaven Nort, the supreme ruler of the Tesser Family, and formally bestow upon you the name Blood Claw Nort. Do you accept?"

The knighthood ceremony with the Tesser code had been a matter previously discussed at a special meeting.

Doing so firstly served to deepen the migrating Tesser army and civilians’ sense of identification with these Hobgoblins—even though they were monsters, their ruler had also become a member of the Tesser Knights.

Secondly, it was to set a clear distinction for Blood Claw and his kin. From now on, they would no longer be a mere monster legion but belonged to an army of sentient beings. They could no longer judge themselves solely by the standards of monster legions; instead, they must strive towards true sage races. The Hobgoblins already possessed no lack of intelligence; they were placed among monsters not because they lacked wisdom, but due to their monstrous way of conducting themselves.

"I am willing," declared Blood Claw loudly.

There were no taboos about this—they had no qualms with adopting human surnames or knightly titles. It was merely a formality, a symbol, representing an ever-tightening bond with Gaven.

This approach still followed the monster playbook.

However, that thought would end today, for from this day forward, he would be a Hobgoblin with a surname, with a place of belonging.

"From this day forth, you are my sword, the direction my arm points shall also be the direction your blade points," said Gaven, tapping Blood Claw’s shoulder twice with his sword, then he continued, "Bring the banner."

Shanoba immediately walked over to Gaven’s side, carrying a banner.

After taking it, Gaven shook it in the wind, and the banner, as if weightless, floated up, unfolding above his head. More astonishing was the banner’s built-in phantom effect, which magnified its size tenfold, making it clear enough for everyone in Blood Gorge Plaza to see.

Elsewhere, this might have elicited gasps and whispers of awe.

But the migrating settlers below took it as a matter of course, as they had been the first audience of the grand illusions of the Pioneer. Compared to that, the current scene seemed quite trivial.

This banner was an evolved version based on the Dragon Oak Territory’s flag, with a deeper layer added to it. The background still featured the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, while the Giant Dragon flying towards the viewer and a man in combat armor formed the second, fainter background layer, leaving only a blood-red claw at the center of the banner.

Gaven introduced solemnly, "This banner is named the Dragon Oak Blood Claw Flag. From now on, it will be your symbol. Take the banner."

"As long as I live, so does the banner," Blood Claw replied with equal solemnity.

Following his response, the Dragon Oak Blood Claw Flag automatically moved from behind Gaven to behind Blood Claw, signifying the completion of the handover ceremony.

"Now, as your lord, I bestow upon you the guardianship of Blood Gorge City. This city will serve as the foundation for your growth and strength. I hope you will strive to protect, develop, and expand it, turning it into a radiant jewel. Today it rises with the presence of Hobgoblins, and tomorrow, Hobgoblins shall take pride in it," Gaven spoke with fervor, "I hope you will reaffirm the vows of old so that the Great Power Maglubiyet may witness our sacred bond."

Without hesitation, Blood Claw recited the oath he had prepared, "I, Blood Claw Nort, am willing to accept the knighthood from Lord Gaven, to take the Dragon Oak Blood Claw Flag as my banner, and to guard Blood Gorge City for him. I hereby swear in the name of the Great Power Maglubiyet that his will shall be my will, his anger my anger, his enemies my enemies, his friends my friends. I shall follow him life after life, never to forsake him. Should I break this oath, may my soul rest in silence."

The oath spoken by Blood Claw had undergone significant changes compared to the last time.

The previous True God Blood Oath was a mere loyalty oath, but this time it escalated to a soul oath, indicating eternal silence for the soul, tantamount to complete obliteration, not even qualifying for entry into Shura Hell—a punishment no more severe could be imagined for a Hobgoblin.
