Chapter 677: Chapter 494 The Value of Swift Roc Dragon’s Nest_1

The Dragon Seeking Ritual Ceremony was out of the question; not a single gnoll from the entire quarry could enter it.

Even the Dragon Seeking Meditation was only barely accessible to a third of them, and most of those were closer to Gos and the Swift Roc’s Land of Death.

The potential of this group of gnolls was so poor that some things that were taken for granted in the Dragon Oak Territory were exceedingly difficult here, including the Dragon Seeking Meditation.

Before this, Gos never would have believed that there were gnolls who, even with guidance, simply could not enter the Dragon Seeking Meditation.

No wonder Gaven had thrown this group of gnolls to him to deal with and had not spent much effort on them.

A low starting point has its advantages, such as being easily satisfied.

Only a third of the gnolls had entered the Dragon Seeking Meditation, and Gos’s heart was filled with disappointment, but those quarry gnolls were all jubilant, especially those who had completed their short meditation. Waving their twig-thin arms around and proclaiming that they felt the Giant Dragon’s magic power, that they felt stronger, their gazes towards Gos changed.

His heart, which had been somewhat let down, was once again filled with a sense of achievement.

These gnolls weren’t so hopeless after all. As long as their diet and nutrition kept up and they rested for a few months to improve their physical condition, they should gradually be able to initiate the Dragon Seeking Meditation.

It’s just that, like himself, the overall limit was lower, and fewer gnolls could initiate the Dragon Blood and Dragonization.

As long as they were willing to work, even ordinary gnolls could create value for the territory, just like himself. After all, such gnolls were the majority.

While Gos was completing his motivational lessons for ordinary gnolls,

Gaven and his companions had already reached the airspace above the Garden Forest, heading straight for their clear objective.

The gnolls that had previously defected to the Garden Forest weren’t truly deserters; from the beginning to the end, they were part of the trap Gaven set for the Swift Roc.

In his past life, he had suffered enough from initiating battles in the lairs of monsters.

Those places were meticulously set by the enemy who held home ground advantage there, capable of doubling or even further amplifying their combat prowess.

For a being like Swift Roc, that even the mighty of the City of Brilliance dared not provoke, the combat power it could unleash in its nest might very well resemble the tenfold surge in strength Gaven experienced in Mesnoel’s Tower of Dominion.

Drawing the enemy out into a battlefield you’ve meticulously prepared and annihilating them in one fell swoop, that was the wisest tactic.

In this matter, Gaven fully exploited everyone’s preconceived notions.

That was that gnolls would only serve Giant Dragons, and one could only have gnoll subjects through enslavement.

Beyond that, he also exploited the differences in perceptions among various species.

Gnolls, as a species that took pride in labor, especially after Gaven perfected the reward system for the gnolls in the Dragon Oak Territory, worked with even higher enthusiasm, requiring no prompting— they even monitored each other.

But to humans, Gaven appeared to be pushing these gnolls to their limits, and defection seemed natural.

Gaven performed a thorough act, even fooling the locals of Anfield Village, to guard against the possibility of Swift Roc’s spies among them.

This concern was not unwarranted, as Swift Roc was lured so easily, in part due to the intelligence provided by human spies.

One should never treat Giant Dragons as witless beasts, nor should one underestimate human greed.

For their own interests, colluding with such cunning beings was a numerous affair in Felen and even a survival tactic for some of these intelligent creatures.

Sambiyan merchants colluding with a young Red Dragon, bringing havoc to the East Road, was one example.

The Swift Roc’s collusion with some of the horse farm owners in Anfield Village, harassing his competitors, was another.

The lead Gnoll Sorcerer named Casar, was a special Dragonized Gnoll.

In the process of Dragonization, he failed to gain Dragon Wings.

This was a significant defect, but in this special espionage mission, it became an advantage.

He was not too conspicuous and had left a Soul Totem on the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, providing Gaven with coordinates that made finding the Swift Roc’s nest all too easy.

They had already been ushered in as special guests and prisoners, and the Gold Coins they brought were taken to the Swift Roc’s Dragon’s Nest Treasury.

Though the Swift Roc did not resemble a dragon, it was in essence a true Giant Dragon, sharing the same predilections.

No, to be more precise, to prove its dragon heritage, the Swift Roc did certain things even more extremely, including amassing wealth and establishing its Dragon’s Nest Treasury, which it indulged in even more so.

Despite the proximity to the City of Brilliance and knowing full well the high risk, the Swift Roc still lingered, not simply for the endless supply of food from the horse farms outside.

That was only a façade; the real reason was that there was an abandoned Dwarf Underground City built upon an as-yet unexhausted silver mine.

The Swift Roc’s nest was situated in this abandoned Dwarf Castle.

As Gaven went deeper, he became more convinced that drawing the Swift Roc out from here for annihilation was an incredibly wise decision.

Wild Magic Zones are graded as well, with levels ranging from minor to severe, small to large.
