Chapter 674: Chapter 493: The Might of the New Ability_1
The one that abruptly halted in midair was merely the Pegasus, for the Knight had already activated a pair of Energy Dragon Wings and entered a dive, and what’s more shameless is that he even used a Magic Cloak to turn invisible.
It wasn’t until I flew past him that the power of the Twisting Spell Aura reached its peak, and the invisibility was dispelled.
But by then, the distance between us was no more than five meters, within the span of a single wing.
That bizarre weapon was already trained on me, its magical light sparkling to an extreme brilliance.
In that instant, time seemed to stretch, playing back in slow motion.
I clearly saw the Half-Elf smiling at me, displaying a row of tidy, snow-white teeth, but in that smile, I sensed no friendliness, only a thick scent of blood. The way he looked at me was as if he was looking at an inanimate object.
I clearly saw the transparent crystal weapon, encapsulating a core of elemental energy compressed to the extreme, suddenly bursting forth to propel a sharp, thick, long projectile.
I seemed to be able to clearly picture the trajectory of that projectile. It was going to pierce through one of my wings before lodging in the right half of my torso.
Seeing it, yet unable to dodge.
Because it was so fast, all I could see was the afterimage left along its path.
All had already happened.
At the moment the bullet struck me, the Law Force that had enveloped my body converged on the wound and exploded along with the immense kinetic energy, creating a horrifying secondary damage that further tore the injury.
That wasn’t all. That surging Law Force drilled towards my head as if aiming to create a new explosion right there.
This sensation drove the Swift Roc mad, and it let out a crazed howl.
The hijacked Flame Dragon’s Breath, too, was beyond control; it broke down into the Flame Element, collapsing thunderously. The frenetic and twisted energy converged to fend off that strange Law Force’s invasion, keeping it from reaching my head.
Though successful, my body was no longer under my control, and the enemy’s attacks were relentless, pounding onto the dragon wing on my side. Half my pectoral muscle was severely torn, completely sapped of strength.
And the ground was so close.
The Swift Roc crashed straight down, headfirst into the reopened quarry’s rock face, and half of its remaining life was gone.
The outsider known as Gaven now wielded a Heavy Lance in his hands, clasping it with both hands and descending from the heavens.
Powerful inertia, the force of Law, his own Strength.
All three merged into one.
Making it all too easy for him to plunge the lance deeply into the Swift Roc’s tattered chest and straight into its heart.
Even the Swift Roc, with close to two hundred points of life, could not withstand such a consecutive string of fatal blows. It didn’t even groan and died on the spot. In its ferocious eyes, there was only endless horror and disbelief.
Never had it imagined this.
The opponent’s full-round attack carried me off in one sweep.
From beginning to end, I never had a chance to counter.
The opponent not only maximized his own abilities but also calculated mine so thoroughly, whether it was my character weaknesses or ability weaknesses.
When I think about it, my death wasn’t so unjust.
Indeed.
I am certainly dead but still conscious.
Because at the moment of my death, my Shadow, enveloped by that strange force, along with my Soul Consciousness, was pulled out and formed into an Undead Spirit Shadow.
Now I cannot do anything but watch as the Half-Elf performs his art on my corpse.
The Half-Elf pulled out a Two-Handed Greatsword, and as my body was again enshrouded by that Law Force, he brought the sword down, severing the great raptor head in one swift blow.
As the blood gushed forth, he produced a piece of Transparent Amber, flashed it over the headless corpse, and then it vanished without a trace.
At the same time, the Amber was no longer empty; within it was a miniature headless corpse, which could be nothing other than the Dragon Corpse of the Swift Roc.
Afterward, the Half-Elf turned his gaze towards me, now an Undead Spirit Shadow. I had a bad feeling that surged in my heart, and the next second, I was thoroughly engulfed by darkness.
Just like the Red Dragon Shadow, I was directly shattered and turned into the foundational stone for the Ghost Grape Garden, contributing a total of 99 points. Transferred to Mesnoel, that would be 990 points.
The main abilities of the Swift Roc were the Twisting Spell Aura and Hijack Spell; after its conversion into an Undead Spirit Shadow, it no longer possessed those abilities. Since it naturally did not have the Dragon Breath capability, it, of course, could not activate Negative Energy Breath—typical of utterly useless abilities, only suitable as a foundation stone in special circumstances.
As for the secret of its high carrying points, it came from the unique nature of the Undead Vengeance field; this needs to be explained from the beginning.
After thoroughly understanding the distinction between Shadows and True Wraiths, Gaven discovered the hidden aspect of the Special Ability Undead Manipulation.
The Undead Spirit Shadows that were converted from it were not the Shadows that were created when it was first killed but were True Wraiths formed when a Shadow kills its master and devours their Soul.
Before integrating into the Undead Vengeance field, this ability had a chance element to it, it wasn’t guaranteed that any creature killed by the Death Roar would be turned into an Undead Spirit Shadow.
