Chapter 644: Chapter 483 Legendary Arcanist_1
The Gnoll Quarry now has its greatest consumption merely in the food for several hundred people, which is a drop in the bucket for him. He decided to entrust the Stone Stallion Inn with the purchase of these supplies and then arranged for them to be delivered there by dedicated personnel and carriages.
This frequent and large-scale transportation of food soon attracted the attention of certain interested parties.
Before long, all the residents of Anfield knew about the news of the revival of the abandoned quarry, but that was all they knew. The rest of the details remained unknown because the quarry employed Gnolls, not common workers, creating a naturally secluded environment that cut off the flow of information.
In their spare time, after marveling at Lord Gaven’s exceptional abilities for a moment, they put it out of their minds.
Three days flew by quickly when there was work to be done.
Having sorted out the affairs of the Gnoll mining operation, the time for Gaven’s meeting with The Weeping Witch also arrived.
Gaven waited in the inn’s basement as agreed upon, which he had sealed off again according to The Weeping Witch’s instructions. Not only were the stone tiles sealed, but even the large bed had been moved back into place.
The room had been carefully decorated both inside and out, but it had not been turned back into a room of illusion to deceive others. Instead, it was now a delicate and comfortable bedroom, which Gaven intended to use as his temporary residence in Anfield Village.
As the bright moon just began to rise, a graceful figure appeared out of thin air before Gaven.
Her figure and attire were virtually identical to that of the Silent Phantom.
But there was an essential difference between them.
She was not a phantom, but possessed a tangible material body.
She was of medium height, with a slender build. Her impeccably tailored black robe accentuated her delicate curves, and her waist-length hair cascaded down, making her face appear very small.
But when you truly looked at her, it was as though there was a thin mist in between, making her only partially visible, and her true appearance elusive.
It was as if she was there, yet not fully present.
An unspoken allure radiated from her, making one desperate to pierce the mist and see the true exquisite face hidden behind it.
What really caused Gaven’s heart to skip a beat was the involuntary pressure she radiated—Legendary.
The figure before him was a Legendary Spellcaster.
The strength that she emitted was able to directly influence the surrounding Magic Power, forming a terrifying presence with her own exclusive force field.
Her unique field was clearly related to the Ether Mist, and the door to the room had vanished, the surroundings completely engulfed by the mist.
It was as though they were no longer in the room, but in the Ether Mist itself.
Before this, Gaven had guessed that her strength was very considerable, at least Transcendent, and possibly even Quasi-Legendary.
Unexpectedly, she was even stronger than he had imagined, a bona fide Legendary power.
Her gaze was sharp as a knife, cutting through the mist and fixing on Gaven, she asked coldly, "Are you not afraid I might kill you?"
Her voice, just like her appearance and aura, was as if veiled in mist, somewhat ethereal and slightly plaintive.
It bore a close resemblance to The Weeping Witch’s crying tone.
This also confirmed Gaven’s initial guess that The Weeping Witch was not actually crying, but her voice was being obstructed, and to the ears of mortals, only a crying sound remained.
"To say I’m not afraid would be a lie, but I believe more firmly that you are a kind, rational person who doesn’t kill without reason. Otherwise, with your abilities, this place would have run with blood long ago, and Anfield Village would have been erased from the world," Gaven stated fact rather than mere flattery.
She indeed had the capacity to do so.
The lack of a series of malicious death rumors at the inn also indirectly verified this.
The Witch Philancy huffed coldly, choosing not to linger on this topic, and instead asked, "You seem to know I have the ability to manifest in the Material Plane?"
"I had an inkling but wasn’t completely certain. Initially, you could only emit vague crying sounds without manifesting, but later you were able to appear physically. This indicates that the strength you can wield isn’t fixed, and that your earlier threats to kill me didn’t sound like mere words but suggested some basis," Gaven analyzed clearly, "If I haven’t guessed wrong, the power you can wield is related to the phase of the moon. The fuller the moon, the more strength you can harness, and vice versa."
In Felen, the moon holds mysterious power.
Many mysterious entities are closely tied to the lunar phases, such as the transformation of Beastmen during a full moon and the tides of Magic Power, among others.
The reasons behind these connections are manifold. The moon’s own gravitational pull is one aspect, and the Moon Goddess Sulun also plays a significant role.
"You are quite clever, to deduce so much from such scant information," The Weeping Witch gave a backhanded compliment, "Then how do you explain knowing my name? That secret should be beyond anyone’s knowledge."
"What if I said that it all comes from a dream, a Prophecy Dream? Would you believe it? Everything, including my coming here, was guided by it," Gaven found this mysterious-sounding excuse to be very useful on many occasions.
The more powerful the spellcasters, the more this excuse seems to hold water.
Because too many possibilities are entangled in it, whether the machinations of gods or the arrangements of fate, and so on.
Witch Philancy was no exception. After hearing Gaven’s explanation, she did not question but pondered it instead.
