Chapter 602: Chapter 469: Beneficial Without Cost_1
Then came the transportation of personnel.
Those with the Mending and Complete Repair Techniques from the Dragon Veins and Dragon Blood Gnolls were the first choice, and after scouring through several territories, we managed to gather a group.
Gaven himself was quite startled, as he realized that he already had a hundred or so such gnolls under his command, most of which were skilled in the Mending Art, accounting for ninety percent.
The Laughing Bandit Inn was severely damaged, and Mending was of relatively minor use there; moreover, we had to conserve Teleportation Spells and couldn’t possibly send so many gnolls over.
Gaven streamlined the group, taking only ten gnolls with the Complete Repair Technique and ten with the Mending, plus the Maiden Priestess Anna.
She had been growing rapidly under the command of Darama Zalanda.
Although there were no major wars on Darama’s side, small-scale conflicts were constant, especially when they sought out battles themselves. After exterminating many Monster Tribes in the wild, and under the Elite Grace of the Path of War, Anna and Nicole quickly completed their metamorphosis and stepped into the Transcendent ranks.
Of course, compared to those who had grown one step at a time, they were undoubtedly the products of expedited training, which was exemplified to perfection in Luna.
Beyond the Special Abilities conferred by their Professional Levels and the basic spells inherited from the Magic Network, they had nothing else.
Anna was somewhat better off, having grown up in a church, receiving a highly orthodox priest education, giving her a certain foundation.
Nicole and Luna, on the other hand, had started too late and were severely lacking in fundamental knowledge; this was something that could not be expedited and had to be accumulated and learned bit by bit.
Such expedited training wasn’t entirely without benefits; at the very least, they managed to raise their Spell Slots, Professional Level enhancements, and various class features, and they could now use some basic spells. This would also make learning the fundamental knowledge considerably easier.
Learning elementary knowledge at the age of eight or nine is different in difficulty compared to learning it at eighteen or nineteen because many attributes are enhanced with the increase of Professional Level.
It was precisely for this reason that Gaven was further motivated to pursue higher Professional Levels.
Another important construction race was the Sodalite Treants, whose Bend Wood Art was particularly useful in rebuilding the inn.
Even magic is not omnipotent.
The Complete Repair Technique could only restore ordinary, heavily damaged items to their pristine state, but it was powerless against magic items, such as Magic Wands or staffs. This represents the common notion that magic cannot repair magic because there would be conflicts in the process.
In addition, the Complete Repair Technique couldn’t help items that were completely twisted, burned, disintegrated, smashed, melted, vaporized, or decayed, nor could it repair living beings, such as constructs.
If indeed everything could be restored to its original state with a single use of the Complete Repair Technique, there would be no such thing as wear and tear in this world.
Of course, this refers to the Complete Repair Art deployed by ordinary priests or those with Spell-Like Abilities. If a True God, even an Incarnation, took action, it would be a different concept entirely.
Returning to our previous point, True Gods could create entirely new items with their Divine Power, without the need for a Divine Power Shaping spell—Lady Strategy’s previous descent in Darama is evidence of this. After she left, she at least left behind three hundred excellent Heavy Warhorses, a full set of Knight’s Heavy Armor, and Proto-Extraordinary Knight Seedlings. Afterwards, those warriors that were summoned were all recruited by Zalanda to be intensively trained, and in not too long, her ranks would be bolstered by a truly Elite force.
The Mending and Complete Repair Arts were mainly used for the stone parts of the inn’s main structure, most of which were cracked, collapsed, but not entirely destroyed.
The wooden parts, however, would need to be reprocessed.
But Gaven had underestimated the Sodalite Treants’ stubbornness. They were willing to guard Mesnoel but were ninety-nine percent reluctant to leave their beloved forests to become high-level carpenters in Human villages.
Even the more open-minded Blue Crown and Lv Guan were not very cooperative in this matter.
It was only after Gaven’s persistent plea bargaining, stating the facts and reasoning plus various compromises and promises, that he reluctantly managed to gather five Sodalite Treants. Whether they could stay there still awaited further observation.
Helplessly, Gaven could only recruit the Pikespirit Druids to fill the numbers; comparatively, they were somewhat easier to talk to, especially the three Pikespirit Druids exchanged for the Dragonized Aircraft Carrier Insects, which he had now become quite adept at using. He had them transferred directly from Weizemay Manor to Anfield Village. Their Dragonized Aircraft Carrier Insects were also a potent force to be reckoned with, prepared for any emergency.
As for the Natural Heavy-Machinery Treants and Enlightened Trees, Gaven did not deploy them from his territory but planned to solve this locally in Anfield Village.
Gaven had distributed the personnel, and the three-day period he had agreed upon with Mother Gao Ser had also arrived.
During these three days, he did not just stay in the territory; the main focus was on Anfield Village.
He did not wait for Veranika to gather all her unconventional subordinates for a shocking, spectacular entrance.
Doing so, apart from satisfying one’s vanity, had no significant meaning, especially since Gnolls were considered a monster race with a bad reputation among Humans. Normally, their presence in a village would lead to their being beaten to death, especially if a whole group appeared at once, it would cause major disturbances; Gaven was acutely aware of this.
