Chapter 558: Chapter 454: Alliance Under the City_2

Gaven then asked, "Lady Lilith, what kind of trade do you wish to make?"

"Quite simple," the Medusa Lord said with a smile blooming like a flower. "Release my people, and I am willing to enter into an alliance with you, a non-aggression pact, to join forces against Blade of Venom Masoji*Nas."

"Hahaha..." Gaven couldn’t help but burst into loud laughter and said, "Do you think I’m that stupid? Stupid enough to trust an alliance with a Dwarves Elf, especially a Masked Renegade? You dare to betray even the Spider Queen Rose; what in this world would you not dare to betray?"

"Who said I betrayed the Spider Queen? How can you be so sure that all I have done is not her divine will?" the Medusa Lord said with a meaningful tone.

Hmm?!

Gaven’s brows involuntarily twitched at her words, as what seemed certain suddenly became uncertain.

Considering the Spider Queen Rose’s penchant for weaving a web of schemes, it wasn’t impossible that she had sent a priestess to be seduced by Velen’s false promises, becoming his sacrificer to infiltrate his inner circle.

But the Masked King was no fool either; he would surely subject these renegades to scrutiny and trials before trusting them.

Was she truly a pawn sent by Rose, or was she waving a false banner, or perhaps a double agent, playing both sides?

Taking a deep breath to clear his mind of any distractions, Gaven said coldly, "Whether you are loyal to Rose or loyal to Velen doesn’t make any difference to me; either way, you are staying here today."

"Who says it doesn’t make a difference?" the Medusa Lord initiated this topic with her own profound implications. "Since you, Gaven City Lord, know my name, you should have a clear understanding of the situation in Mir Forest. Delnox City is just a part of Velen’s forces; the weakest among the three cities."

Even if you were to annihilate the main force of Delnox City here, what would you do with Delnox City? Send troops to capture it?

I admit, your forces are not weak, but though you can defend Mesnoel City with them, splitting your troops to defend two cities, one of which is a Dwarves city in the Dark Domain, would stretch you thin. A slight mistake could lead to being defeated in detail. If I am not mistaken, both the large-scale teleportation from before and the recent long-range energy accumulation strike are dependent on Mesnoel’s Tower of Dominion and have a range limit.

If left alone, it won’t take many days before a large number of Dwarves Elves move in, and Blade of Venom will send even stronger generals to rule, still posing a threat to Mesnoel.

If you let my people go, it will be different. I will take down Delnox City, turn it into my city, and I will lead them back into the embrace of the Spider Queen. With us there as a buffer, Blade of Venom will not dare to easily step over Delnox City to launch an attack on Mesnoel."

The Medusa Lord was an exceptional speaker, with a clear and logical argument that went straight to the crux of the issue.

Gaven didn’t need her analysis for most of these conditions; he was well aware of them.

Their initial battle plan was to use their enemy’s tactics against them by drawing the Dwarves Elves of Delnox City to the gates of Mesnoel City and using the powerful force of the Tower of Dominion to catch them off guard and annihilate their main force as much as possible, affording themselves a stable period of development.

As for seizing the opportunity to counterattack and take Delnox City, that wasn’t even part of their plan.

Their current forces, which relied on the Tower of Dominion and the Mystlock Locks to defend, were just enough; to split them further to capture a city would be asking for trouble.

However, if they followed the Medusa Lord’s suggestion, making the three cities of the Dwarves Elves fall into internal division and even establish mutually antagonistic relations, it would greatly benefit Mesnoel.

But trusting the cunning nature of the Dwarves Elves, nobody could be certain whether this was just a stalling tactic by the Medusa Lord, simply to safely extract her loyalists from the battlefield.

Seeming to see through Gaven’s concerns, the Medusa Lord smiled even more slyly and alluringly, "City Lord, I know what you’re worried about; you don’t need to trust me, you only need to believe in the ambition of a Dwarves Elf, a Spider Queen’s priestess, a Masked Renegade from the Master of the Masked. Do you think that once I occupy a city, I would readily hand over control to anyone else?

The power of Delnox City has been severely compromised; it is a foregone conclusion, especially now that you have witnessed the strength of the City Lord. Would I still lightly start a war?"

"You are the best persuader I have encountered, bar none," Gaven couldn’t help but sincerely admire. He had never seen anyone turn their race’s flaws into strengths before; at least in this particular situation, the greed, suspicion, and lust for power of the Dwarves Elves became tools of persuasion.

Whether the Medusa Lord was a pawn of the Spider Queen or a follower of the Master of the Masked, one thing was certain: she had enormous ambition. It was only such an ambition that would push her to take such great risks, playing with fire between two True Gods.

And suspicion was not one-sided, it was mutual.

In a position of absolute advantage, Gaven made a concession, allowing the Medusa Lord and her loyalists to return to Delnox City, making her the new City Lord.
