Chapter 490: Chapter 426: The Secondary Divine Artifact Insight Gemstone_2
Hum!
A buzzing sound, created by the rapid flow of magic power, resounded beside Gaven’s ears.
The crystalline and transparent Crystal Spire, with Gaven at its center, began to light up bit by bit, and countless magic runes emerged from its surface.
What sounds slow is actually unbelievably fast.
In just a matter of seconds, the more than two hundred meters tall Crystal Spire was completely illuminated.
But that wasn’t all.
This light was emanating from the Crystal Spire and spreading throughout the entire Mesnoel, lighting up one building after another.
The rocky, living constructions began to light up one by one.
The living tree constructions, on the other hand, were flickering with a greenish luminescence.
The corrupt powers within the buildings and the soil, under the influence of an immense force, were being drawn out, gathered together, and a barrier of light covering the entire city began to form from nothing, slowly rising and converging directly above the Crystal Spire, forming a whole.
The Necrotic Maze Lock of Mesnoel, once destroyed by the Divine Root, was restarting.
Gaven, at the very center of the entire event, had a different feeling.
Since his soul consciousness merged with the Crystal Spire, amplified countless times, he saw many things invisible to ordinary perspectives as the Crystal Spire restarted Mesnoel.
He saw the entire sixty-six-floor structure of the Crystal Spire, each floor was exactly three meters in height, including the crystalline ground beneath his feet, totaling one hundred ninety-eight meters.
And this was only the part of the Crystal Spire that rose above the ground; it wasn’t the whole. Below the ground, there were exactly thirty-three floors, also measuring three meters each, with each floor growing proportionally thicker, forming a massive cone, with the area of the bottommost layer being astoundingly large.
Beneath the thirty-third floor underground, it wasn’t solid, but semi-hollow because the being once imprisoned and sealed here had escaped.
This ninety-nine-floor Crystal Spire wasn’t just a simple core of the Mystlock Locks; its main function was to suppress, absorb, and transform the corrupt power of the Divine Root for its own use, to power the Necrotic Maze Lock.
No, to be more precise, through this process, it continuously weakened the power of the Divine Root to ultimately purify it.
The entire Mesnoel was a gigantic magic array for purifying corrupt powers.
When it operated, the corruption that tainted this place would naturally be drawn out.
But whether compared to Half-Moon Colt Luna’s Corruption Furnace or to the Purification Root being constructed by the Dragon Oak Mother Tree.
The purification magic array of Mesnoel belonged to the most typical crude method; it couldn’t convert these corrupt forces for its own use but could only infuse them into the city’s Mystlock Locks.
It used the daily consumption of the Mystlock Locks to gradually use them up, employing the power of time.
Wearing down everything with time was the tactic Elves were most adept at and commonly used.
Thus was the case with the imprisonment of the vampiric Divine Child in the Land of Sealing, and so went the imprisonment of the Divine Root in Mesnoel.
As the Mystlock Locks converged directly above Noelle Rule Tower, forming a complete whole, Gaven distinctly felt the familiar tremble from his soul consciousness—the opening of a new Milestone of Destiny.
His soul consciousness detached from the Tower of Dominion, and the half of the gemstone appeared in Gaven’s hand.
Insight Gemstone
Eye of Truth (Special Ability)—The bearer of the Insight Gem can see and detect the true form of all hidden illusions, invisibility, the Starry Realm, Spirit World, or objects in a different dimensional space within their field of vision. This ability can be turned on or off at will.
Comprehend Languages (Special Ability)—The bearer has a 90 percent chance of understanding any spoken or written language, and a 50 percent chance for secret languages.
Read Magic (Special Ability)—The bearer has an 80 percent chance of understanding any magic inscriptions, but this ability is only available when the wearer is a spellcaster.
Indestructible (Special Ability)—This piece of magic items is a Divine Artifact and cannot be destroyed by ordinary means.
Divine Artifact Component (Special Ability)—This Minor Divine Artifact is a part of the higher Divine Artifact, the Psychic Insight Gem, and holds a fateful connection to another Minor Divine Artifact, the Psychic Gem. The bearer can sense the general location of the Psychic Gem.
Tower of Dominion Key (Special Ability)—This gemstone is bound as the core key to the Mesnoel Ruler’s Tower; the bearer has all access to the Tower of Dominion and can manipulate the Tower from a distance while wearing this key.
Tower of Dominion Teleportation (Special Ability)—This ability is equivalent to a mage’s Teleportation Spell, which can teleport the user to the control room of the Tower of Dominion, limited to three uses per day.
Gaven had handled many Divine Artifacts, but most of them were not ready-made but rather fostered by him or made by his hand.
The Insight Gem was the first finished Divine Artifact he acquired in this life, and its attributes were worthy of the name of a Divine Artifact, possessing a strength in a certain aspect so powerful that it could rival that of a Deity’s Incarnation.
Just as its name suggests, the Insight Gem enhances abilities related to perception and insight, all of which are very practical, especially the True Sight.
The Material Plane is not an isolated existence but is interlinked with the Fairy Wilderness, the Shadow Plane, the Ether Plane, the Starry Realm, among many others, with some parts even overlapping, especially the Ether Plane.
Many of the natives of these planes possess the ability of invisibility, which is more or less similar, simply because their life essence is connected to their native plane and has the power to shield their movements using the force of their home plane.
For example, the Fae Race’s ability to turn invisible is to slip into the cracks between the Material Plane and the Fairy Wilderness.
And the Ghost’s ability to become invisible is to slip into the cracks between the Ether Plane or the Shadow Plane.
The flighty Nightshadow that almost killed Gaven earlier used its invisibility by blending into the cracks of the Shadow Plane.
True Sight is a fifth-level Prophecy spell, not too high in spell level, and most Transcendent Spellcasters can use it.
However, this spell has a limited duration; it lasts one minute per level of spellcasting, and it is costly. Each use of the spell alone, just for casting materials, costs two to three hundred gold.
No one would just randomly cast True Sight on themselves.
But the problem is, by the time one realizes there’s an issue and gets ready to use True Sight, those creatures have often already made their deadly, unexpected strikes.
Like the Nightshadow earlier, its most threatening move, Death’s Pointer, is especially so when caught off guard.
With some preparation, its power is greatly diminished.
With this Insight Gemstone, similar otherworldly creatures will find it much harder to launch a sneak attack on Gaven in the future.
