Chapter 467: Chapter 405 Lady Strategy’s Arrangement_1
"Dealing with cultists is my undeniable responsibility, and I am willing to go and assist," the August Inquisitor didn’t even wait for Gaven to speak before volunteering eagerly at the mention of the God of Corruption and Degeneration.
"The God of Corruption and Degeneration is the archenemy of life and death for all Natural Deities, and I too am willing to provide whatever assistance I can," Lady Olive also volunteered proactively.
Her presence in the Land of Sealing was no simple coincidence.
After their last collaborative battle, she and the August Inquisitor had grown close, with signs of rekindled old flames.
Gaven later learned that the two who always behaved courteously actually had over half a century of complicated emotional entanglements, continually breaking up and reconciling countless times.
No irreconcilable differences had been heard of; after all, from time to time, the two would treat each other as strangers for a while and then come together again after a chance encounter.
Neither Regina nor Darnell found it strange at all. Initially, they tacitly provided conveniences for the couple, while Gaven, unaware of the situation, really thought they joined hands in constructing the Land of Sealing.
Unexpectedly, the two saw this place as a ground for rekindling their romance, now in a honey-sweet phase, almost ready to build a new love nest here.
"Having the opportunity to fight alongside you both again is my greatest honor," of course, Gaven would not refuse the addition of a Transcendent Priest.
By the time Gaven returned to Thacel and once more approached the Mir Forest, the reinforcements he gathered far exceeded his initial estimates—Transcendent Holy Knight Darnell, August, Transcendent Priest Olive, Transcendent Bard Regina, and the Treant Magician Thunderwood.
On Thacel’s side, aside from Nola, Zalanda was present as well, bringing three reinforcements with her.
Two of which were none other than Nicole and Anna, who were less about offering assistance and more about leeching experience, only appearing far behind the battlegrounds.
Even for a Divine Artifact, the usage of the skills on it is limited; the conditions for the granting of Elite Grace is participation in the current battle, otherwise, it cannot be bestowed.
The other was a stranger.
This was a Demi-Human, less than a meter tall but with an aura of eight meters.
Garbed in blood-red plate armor, covered by a white robe with a crest, and at the center, embroidered with a Red Knight emblem featuring eyes with star shapes—the Holy Emblem of the Goddess of Strategy. Riding atop a sturdy mount, a canine, with a miniature spiked mace in one hand and a small warshield in the other.
Dressed more like a Holy Warrior than an actual Holy Warrior, but at first glance, Gaven knew she wasn’t one. Instead, she was a dedicated Sacrificer and Holy Strategist of the Goddess of Strategy.
Zalanda’s introduction wasn’t necessary at all. Upon meeting, the demi-human walked straight to Gaven, removed her helmet, and revealed a small, delicate, and beautiful face. With a solemn and respectful expression she said, "I am Veranika from the Fortress of Strategy, a servant of the Yin Hong Church, the third Lord Knight under Her Highness Yin Hong. By the Holy Decree of Her Highness Yin Hong, from this day onwards, I shall serve under your command until Her Highness issues a new Holy Decree."
The third Lord Knight of Her Highness Yin Hong!
This was a complete title, and upon hearing it, Gaven paid it great respect.
He was, after all, a half-Chosen of the Goddess of Strategy, albeit with a somewhat questionable origin, and he needed to deepen his understanding of this lady.
To understand a deity, one must not only grasp her personality but also her doctrines and the main forces within the secular world.
When one speaks of the Goddess of Strategy’s story, one cannot omit another lady, Ms. Katherine Yandor Blood Eagle. Many people assume the Red Knight was a demigod raised from the Material Plane. Gaven, too, was once among the unaware masses, until he learned more and came to understand.
The Red Knight was only known to the Tesser People at that time. In reality, she was not enshrined as a god during The Year of Upheaval; she was one of the gods who had been cast down to the mortal realm. She did not show her divinity in the flesh but instead possessed the body of Ms. Katherine, temporarily making it her divine vessel. It was Ms. Katherine’s Hawks Adventure Group that was the precursor to the Red Falcon Knights.
The story that followed is well known to the Tesser People. Lady of Strategy, faced with the overwhelmingly numerous hordes of monsters pouring out of the Star Spiral Mountain Range and the Veldas Forest, remained unflinching. With her extraordinary strategic acumen, she led a small but powerful group of subordinates, maneuvering and negotiating, effectively holding off their wildest advances, thereby inspiring countless Tesser People. She bought the slow-reacting noble warlords valuable time to assemble their armies and ultimately crush this monstrous force.
When the Goddess of Strategy left her demi-godly life behind, Ms. Katherine naturally became the Chosen, leading the Red Knights back to her ancestral home at Blood Eagle Castle, which stood at the junction of Curved Sea Highway and Sundar Path, guarding the Land of Death. It was built by Tariq Blood Eagle a century before, but by then, the land had been ravaged, the castle laid to ruins, and all occupants massacred.
Ms. Katherine rebuilt the site, renaming it as the Fortress of Strategy, a temple-castle dedicated to the Goddess of Strategy, also serving as the first dedicated temple for the Red Knights in Felen. Although she was worshipped elsewhere, most did not have dedicated temples and were worshipped within the temples of the God Tempus as subsidiary deities.
There, Ms. Katherine established the first official church of the Goddess of Strategy, the Yin Hong Church, with the Red Knights as its foundation.
Due to her background, this church had a more rigid hierarchy than others, in some areas following the secular advancement and titles of knights.
The ranks, in ascending order, are Squire, Knight, Knight Captain, and Lord Knight.
The current leaders are the Lord Knights, and based on their rank within the Yin Hong Church, they would be bestowed the title of the first, second, third Lord Knight, and so forth.
The title of the third Lord Knight meant that the Veranika before them was the third in command of Yin Hong Church, only surpassed by the Chief Lord Knight, Ms. Katherine Blood Eagle, and the second Lord Knight, Zalanda Starlight.
This was not a case of having the same name; this Zalanda was indeed the same person, only with her identity hidden. Even within the Yin Hong Church, only a few knew her true identity, and she was more commonly addressed as Starlight or the second Lord Knight.
"It is my honor," Gaven replied with a solemn expression.
The appearance of Veranika was an expected event.
"If the Goddess of Strategy did not act this way, she would hardly deserve her divine position in the slightest."
What I didn’t expect was how powerful and esteemed the individual she sent to my side would be.
This fully demonstrated the demigod’s significant regard for me.
"This is a personal letter from Lady Katherine, the Supreme Strategist of the Fortress of Strategy," Veranika said solemnly as she handed a letter to Gaven.
A personal letter from Her Highness Yin Hong, the Chief Lord Knight and the Goddess of Strategy’s first Chosen?
Gaven dared not take this lightly and hurriedly received the letter reverently, opening it carefully to read.
He was momentarily taken aback by the handwriting, which was not unfamiliar to him. In recent times in Thacel, whenever he had free time, he would study the Path of War, and the handwriting in this letter was identical to that.
If there was a difference, it was only a matter of whether it was infused with divine nature or not.
It seemed the relationship between Ms. Katherine and the Red Knight was much more than a simple connection between god and Chosen; perhaps it was even closer.
Putting his thoughts aside, Gaven focused his main attention on the content of the letter.
After dispelling a number of pleasantries, Katherine had stated just one thing.
She wanted to establish Felen’s first War Academy in the Fortress of Strategy, open to all military officers of the Felen Continent, to impart the Path of War, centered on strategy and planning, and the content within the Divine Artifact of the War Path, held by Zalanda, would be one of the core courses taught.
As a contributor to the Path of War, Gaven was invited to the Fortress of Strategy to discuss this matter.
Gaven carefully saved the invitation and asked, "Ms. Veranika, there isn’t a specific time mentioned here; when should I make my visit?"
Gaven would certainly not refuse such an opportunity.
The content of the Path of War was static; how to apply it remained a matter for individuals.
What he lacked the most at the moment was middle and lower-tier military officers; compared to the War Academy, which was an investment for the future, his sights were directly set on the Yin Hong Church.
Although Zalanda was the second Lord Knight of the Yin Hong flag, it was obvious that he held a nominal position with little real authority; the leading power remained in the hands of the Chief Lord Knight.
"This matter isn’t urgent; the War Academy has just begun preparations, and there’s still a lot to perfect. You can come any time during the next one or two months. Once you are ready, let me know, and I’ll teleport you there directly," Veranika replied.
"Priests can also perform teleportation spells?" Gaven was slightly surprised but then realized, "Ah, I see, Domain Spells from the domain of travel. Alright, I will try to schedule a time. Since we have two master strategists here, let’s derive a new approach to our next battle strategy!"
"There’s nothing much to derive," Zalanda shook his head, "Your defense and counter-attack are the best tactics. The focus is not on how we ambush, but on how you lure the enemy out of hiding. Once they leave the forest, the rest is up to us."
Veranika agreed, "With our current setup, unless the enemy has a truly elite army, they won’t be able to threaten us."
Looking around, Gaven couldn’t help but smile, "Alright, I’ll leave this place to you. Let’s go pay a visit to those Moando Servants, Luna, let’s go."
One man and his mount soon appeared once again in the skies above Mesnoel.
The situation here was not much different compared to last time, and even having seen it once and being psychologically prepared, the inner disgust was hard to suppress.
However, the mindset was worlds apart.
Last time, they knew nothing about this place and were understandably uneasy.
This time, even though their understanding was still limited, holding enough trump cards gave them sufficient confidence, and their actions were naturally unreserved.
During the journey, Gaven and Luna embarked on a discussion of tactics to lure the enemy.
Gaven sought Luna’s opinion, "To bait them, you must fully display your power, instilling fear in them, making them want to destroy you at all costs. However, this will inevitably expose you to great danger."
"In battle, where is there no risk?" the Half-Moon Colt retorted, "Moreover, it is my undeniable responsibility to eradicate corruption and these Moando Servants. Lord, just let me know what I need to do, and I’ll do everything in my power to cooperate. In the fight, all we need is one Knight, one brain, one will."
The Half-Moon Colt perfectly exemplified what it meant to follow the path of a mount.
"You are right, but today the brain is you, not me. After all, this time we rely on your capabilities. Compared to me, I believe you know better how to maximize your abilities. Today, I’m your guard," Gaven said, for once changing roles and giving the reins to Luna.
Luna was startled, showing an almost humanly excited smile, "Since the Lord trusts me so much, then alright, let’s cause a commotion."
The Half-Moon Colt neighed loudly, folding its wings and charging towards the stench-ridden Corrupt Forest.
