Chapter 460: Chapter 398 Seed of Moando_1

The Angel Wings involuntarily stretched out from her body, and the Power of Verdant Life flickered within her, forming magically into runes; it was even more intense than before. For not only did she carry the life blessings infused by the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, but she had also just risen by four Druid levels, merging them into her being.

Even Valon was shaken when he saw Luna’s display of four Professional Levels, and involuntarily his gaze fell upon Gaven.

The speed at which these Professional Levels were gained was astonishingly fast; he thought the Holy Warriors were sufficiently diligent and exceptional to gain one level a year.

But after recalling the feat she had just accomplished, wiping out a juvenile Red Dragon on her own, everything seemed to make sense.

"What is this!" Gaven’s eyes suddenly narrowed, he had clearly seen something – a vine with a small white flower on top, flickering in and out of the Half-Moon Colt’s ear, like a snake withdrawing into its hole, and that flower was exactly the same as the one he had seen in the eyes of the Forest Hawk.

As the divine light receded, the power that had been forced to reveal itself on Luna also retraced back into her body, including the vine with the small white flower – which retracted the fastest.

Once the holy light faded, the vine disappeared as if it had never existed.

The Half-Moon Colt showed no sign of waking; after gently landing, it lay prone, deep in slumber.

Gaven’s gaze settled on Valon, and though he did not speak, his inquiring intent was obvious.

Valon pointed outside and silently mouthed words, clearly suggesting they talk outside.

Understanding his intent, Gaven promptly exited the Hall of the Temple.

Valon took the initiative to speak before Gaven could, "When we introduced Luna’s background earlier, we concealed some facts, not intentionally from the Duke, but to protect her from being targeted by those with ulterior motives. However, we never anticipated that you would come into contact with Moando’s Cultists so quickly. It seems that it is Luna’s unavoidable fate. Only when Moando is thoroughly vanquished, will she be truly safe."

The last sentence seemed to be said to Gaven as much as it was a reminder to himself.

After a long sigh, the Grand Inquisitor continued, "The Evil God that Luna’s parents opposed in their lifetime was Moando, the God of Corruption. However, they did not die fighting him but were instead planted with the Seed of Moando by his Cultists, using a dark ritual. The small white flower you saw on that Forest Hawk is what blooms when the Seed of Moando grows within the body of a Cultist.

Once the Seed of Moando germinates, the host’s mind and body are forever under Moando’s control, doomed to unconditional obedience.

Luna’s mother was implanted with the Seed of Moando while pregnant with her.

Although Luna was not directly infested by the Seed of Moando, remnants of its power linger in her body.

For years, we have been trying to eradicate it, but her case is too peculiar; this unique Seed of Moando has fused with the very essence of her life. Forceful extraction might endanger her life."

While not explicitly stated, Gaven could easily infer the ultimate fate of Luna’s parents.

The parasitic process of the Seed of Moando is irreversible, with no cure, as the host’s body becomes entirely rooted by this decaying plant factor, serving as its nourishment.

The only way to liberate them was to kill them.

This is one of the reasons why Luna received special treatment at the Hammer of the Holy Light Abbey.

The Holy Warriors felt guilt towards her.

"Does this mean Luna has always been unaware of the real condition of her body?"

"She knows some of it, but not the full picture. She only knows that her body was once tainted by corruption, and that we have been purifying her over the years. However, she doesn’t know why we have not been able to fully cleanse this corruptive force, but instead have been suppressing it with seals to prevent the Seed of Moando from spreading and corroding both her body and soul."

"I think we should inform Luna of this matter. She is not as fragile as you believe, and combatting this corruptive force requires the Will of the person involved. Without knowing the full extent, if she ever confronts those Moando Cultists, she might suffer greatly. Today has been a lesson," Gaven voiced his disagreement with their approach.

"Given your knowledge of Moando, you should be aware of his moniker, the Dark Tempter. He is a compulsive liar, deceiving and blinding people with falsehoods, leading them astray, especially those dominated by sadness and negative emotions; they are more susceptible to his insidious influence."

Valon paused, then bitterly smiled, "The most important reason is that we know Luna all too well. Upon learning this, she wouldn’t blame us but would become utterly fixated on eradicating Moando and his Cultists to avenge her parents."

Upon reflection, it was indeed in Luna’s nature to do so.

Gaven shook his head, "Such a method may have been suitable before, but not anymore – not just because she has been traveling with me, but also because she has come face to face with one of Moando’s Servants. She has sensed something amiss and will investigate further. Moando’s Servant appeared to sense something as well and trailed us for a while. I suspect this issue will not simply conclude without further complication."

Valon considered for a moment, then nodded, "You make a lot of sense. I will personally tell her the truth once she awakens."

"There’s no need, I’ve already heard everything." Luna’s voice came from behind Valon.

"When did you wake up?" Valon’s expression shifted. Luna had been eavesdropping from behind him for quite some time, and he had been completely unaware. When did her Stealth ability become so formidable?

At the instant he heard Luna’s voice, Gaven immediately rushed towards the Hall of the Temple.

It was then Valon realized that the Half-Moon Colt hadn’t come out and was still in the temple.

She had been Listening to their conversation from afar.

No, that couldn’t be – they were far enough apart, and the Hall of the Temple was protected by a shielding barrier.

Without further delay, Valon hurried after Gaven into the temple.

The scene inside prompted both Valon and Gaven to turn pale.

The Half-Moon Colt still had its eyes firmly closed, as if in deep slumber.

But the previously suppressed white vine flowers appeared again, not just one but two, with one blooming from each ear.

The vines continued to grow rapidly, entwining with her mane.

Valon cried out somewhat ungracefully, "The Seed of Moando inside her had clearly been suppressed by me; how could it have reactivated? And to grow at such speed? It’s not just any Moando Servant; even the spokesperson of Moando couldn’t have such an effect, because Moando has fallen from godhood!"

"I don’t think the problem lies with an encounter with a Moando Servant, but rather with Luna herself," Gaven speculated from his own theories, "We didn’t know that Luna had the Seed of Moando in her before, and we infused her with a vast amount of life force, then chose Druid as her core profession.

All of these are related to natural life, and Moando, being the God of Corruption, its Seed most likely yearns for a significant amount of life force to nurture it.

The Grand Inquisitor, with good intentions, tried to inspect the condition of the seal on the Seed of Moando, but ended up fully activating it instead."

Gaven’s guess wasn’t baseless speculation.

He had already pulled up the attribute data on the Half-Moon Colt.

There were no changes to her other attributes.

Except for one that was added.

Seed of Moando (Special Ability) — Awakening, Merging, Absorbing, Mutating.

In addition, the blessings granted by the Dragon Oak Mother Tree and the Druid’s forces were being drawn out, manifesting as runes that were faintly visible on her body, continuously twisting and changing at a visibly rapid pace.

Just like her flickering attribute panel, the special abilities from these two sources had also become unstable, phasing in and out of existence.

Whether they were God-Given Skills, Professional Special Abilities, or Special Abilities bestowed by a Milestone of Destiny like Gaven possessed, they didn’t appear out of thin air.

Rather, they were inscribed into your body or soul in the form of Magic Runes.

The process of deploying Special Abilities involves magic power flowing through these unique pathways formed by the Magic Runes to manifest themselves.

Normally, once obtained, Special Abilities last a lifetime.

Since there is a premise, it indicates that there are abnormal circumstances.

Like Negative Ranks or loss of divine grace.

The most iconic example would be the Holy Warrior. When you stray from the path, falling into darkness, everything the gods bestowed upon you will leave you, including the Holy Warriors’ Profession Level-granted Special Abilities unless you seek atonement and gain the recognition of the deity you serve.

The instability within the Half-Moon Colt’s Special Abilities was due to the core forces that constituted them being absorbed.

"Regardless, we cannot allow the Seed of Moando to take root and sprout within Luna. If that happened, she wouldn’t just become a puppet of Moando; she would no longer be human," Valon said as he urgently proceeded towards the Hammer of Holy Light, "I request more blessings from Tyr to seal her."

Gaven shook his head, "The Grand Inquisitor’s method might have been effective before the Seed of Moando was activated, but now, I fear it’s useless. You said it yourself earlier, this Seed of Moando is not an ordinary one, but it comes from her parents, and it has already integrated into her very essence. Continuing to seal it now is to tamper with her life essence, especially since her Professional Level keeps rising—unless she chooses to stop progressing in the future..."

"Can’t worry about the future now; we have to get through the present first," said Valon, not the kind to give up easily without trying, directly channeling the power of the Just Hammer, as a dazzling column of light thundered down.

However, this time the Holy Light Power couldn’t directly enter the Half-Moon Colt’s body.

The white flowers in her ears swayed, and a shield of green light mingled with corrupt black miasma rose to meet it with resistance.

But the divine energy Valon invoked through the Hammer of Holy Light was immensely powerful.

The defensive shield was simply no match and crumbled on the spot.

Massive Holy Light Power rammed into her body with an irresistible force.

Luna let out a long and painful screech, her body uncontrollably shaking as Yin Hong blood gushed from her orifices, and the fluctuations in the Magic Runes on her body intensified.

Streams of dark mist were forced from her body.

The vines entangled with her mane immediately withered away significantly.

But as the white flowers quivered, more vines began to spread and grow.

Valon grew increasingly anxious, for if the current situation continued, Luna would die by his hand before the Seed of Moando could be sealed.

However, his extensive experience in combatting evil told him that he absolutely must not stop now. The combativeness of the Dark Power had been fully activated by the Holy Light Power he had just channeled.

If he were to stop now, the unchecked energies of corruption would overwhelm Luna in an instant, and by then, not even Tyr himself could help.

Fortunately, he wasn’t fighting alone; Gaven, too, was channeling forces, pouring them into the Half-Moon Colt, only he was harnessing the power of the Fairy Wilderness and the Dragon Oak Mother Tree.

With the abundant infusion of life force, Luna’s condition visibly improved a lot, no longer a rootless tree being passively drained.
