Chapter 421: Chapter 360: Promote 4 Levels Up_1
One was shock at the bizarre creatures under his command.
Although before this, Gaven had briefly introduced them to her.
But hearing about them was one thing, and actually seeing them was another.
Treants, Pikespirits, Shadows, even the mounts were intelligent horses, with very few humans to be seen.
No wonder he had gone to Thacel to try to obtain immigrants from her.
Secondly, it was his terrifying personal combat prowess.
In fact, Zalanda had already felt this the moment they met.
But it had only been on a defensive level.
She had exhausted every trick in the book and hadn’t been able to scratch him, which had left her exhausted and allowed him to seize the opportunity to breach her defenses.
But against a Giant Dragon, mere defensive power was far from sufficient, the most important was attack power.
Breaking through its defenses was the only way to possibly defeat it.
Now that Gaven had done just that, it fully demonstrated that he had both offense and defense.
Her gaze involuntarily fell on the odd weapon in Gaven’s hands.
It was this weapon that had caused the Red Dragon to flee after one blow.
In terms of design, it looked somewhat like a Gnome Hand Cannon made on Landan Island.
But she had seen firsthand the power of a Gnome Hand Cannon.
It might be somewhat useful in the hands of an ordinary person, but against a Giant Dragon, it wasn’t even fit to scratch its itch.
Including the Gnome Bombard, none seemed to have the deterrent power to make a Giant Dragon turn tail and run.
Before Zalanda could speak, Gaven took the initiative to say, "Thank you for your assistance, Big Sister. If it hadn’t been for the might you displayed just now, this problem wouldn’t have been resolved so easily."
Zalanda shook her head and said, "Actually, even if I hadn’t made a move, those mercenaries wouldn’t have withstood a single charge from your Treants. You have really built an incredible foundation here. There’s no need to look at anything else, the mere fact of having these creatures shows that what you’ve done is even better than what you’ve told."
"Big Sister flatters me. I’m really sorry that I should be showing you around, but right now there’s something more important to deal with," said Gaven with a look of apology.
"Is it about digging up the treasury of this Red Dragon?" Zalanda couldn’t help but laugh, "That certainly is most pressing. Once news of its death spreads, countless people would seek to find and plunder it."
"I’m glad you understand, how about we do it together?" Gaven invited her.
"Can I?" Zalanda didn’t refuse.
She was very interested in the Dragon’s Nest. Not everyone had the chance to experience such a thing.
"Of course," Gaven said to the Half-Moon Colt. "Luna, can you take my friend for a short ride? Just a short distance will do."
The Half-Moon Colt clearly showed some reluctance.
But since Gaven had asked, it could not turn him down; it finally nodded and said, "Come on up."
Gaven spread his Energy Dragon Wings and took to the sky.
"This seems a bit inappropriate," said Zalanda, who had a strong Insightful Observer ability. She instantly sensed the Half-Moon Colt’s reluctance and, not wanting to make things difficult for Gaven, turned her gaze to the Red Dragon Wraith, "Can it be ridden? If not, I’ll ride it."
Gaven shook his head and said, "Unless there’s a Special Saddle, it’s not possible to ride a ghost creature as they are between physical and ethereal. It’s just a short distance; wait a moment, I will introduce you to a new friend, and then you can ride her."
"Alright," Zalanda agreed, hearing that Gaven had other arrangements and not wishing to decline any further, after all, this was his territory.
Luna was smart and picked up on Gaven’s hint; her expression considerably softened.
Gaven intended to have her carry this guest to meet the Bipedal Dragon that seemed out of the ordinary.
Now that Luna had recovered from the shock of the Red Dragon’s slaying, she had the mental energy to reflect on the entire process.
Especially the role played by the Bipedal Dragon that had been crucial in the middle.
From her short conversation with Gaven, it was clear that her presence was not a coincidence.
Rather, she was Gaven’s subordinate, originally executing another secret mission, but had failed and returned to report back.
Apart from her unusual appearance, what set her apart from other Bipedal Dragons was the intelligence she exhibited.
This piqued Luna’s curiosity and natural affinity for her, as intelligent creatures not resembling humans were comparatively rare. Even among the wide array of fantasy beings under Gaven, there were not many such beings.
The Half-Moon Colt guessed right, Gaven was taking them to Yewen Pond, in search of the Black Dragoness Sha’no.
He intended to have Sha’no serve as Zalanda’s mount for a while.
Firstly, having a flying mount would greatly augment Zalanda’s capabilities, allowing her to maximize her Chosen and Path of War powers.
The stronger Zalanda’s power, the more strength Gaven could borrow from her.
The Milestone of Destiny: Heart of the Queen had fully illustrated this point.
The support provided by a Queen was not on the same level as that of a City Lord.
Secondly, the Black Dragoness was still an unstable factor. If Stephanie were to be captured, she might reveal Sha’no, potentially leading enemies to Gaven.
Although distance wasn’t a cure-all, at the very least, the likelihood of being recognized in Thacel would be minuscule.
Most importantly, Zalanda was no easy prey herself now. Any Legendary Creatures thinking of targeting her would have to consider whether Lady Strategy would be willing or not.
Zalanda, already mounted on the Half-Moon Colt, suggested to Gaven, "Although I don’t know exactly how you slayed the dragon, I believe Miss Luna played a significant role in this. Why not give her the Magic Power accumulated in Path of War as a gift?"
She was referring to Elite Grace.
The recent conflict was neither too great nor too small, especially after the dragon slaying, the magic power that gathered was no small amount.
But this place belonged to Gaven’s territory, so how to distribute it still required consulting his opinion.
It was only after Zalanda’s reminder that he remembered this, and he nodded involuntarily, "That’s right, the success of this dragon slaying owes most to Luna. Without her, I wouldn’t have been able to touch a dragon’s backside. It’s more than appropriate to reward her."
This was not boasting, but a statement of fact.
If possible, compared to increasing his own power, Gaven would rather improve Luna’s.
Because only if her strength was strong enough could she accompany him into many more dangerous places.
Gaven asked out of curiosity, "Luna, after you’ve obtained enough magic power, how do you use it? Do you increase your innate life dice or unlock a professional template? Gain professional levels?"
Many Transcendents and even Legendary creatures choose to grow by increasing their innate life dice.
For example, the Dog Demons and the Giant Dragons.
As their life dice increase, they will unlock many powerful abilities.
Luna replied truthfully, "Unlock a professional template. Neither Pegasus nor Yueju belong to the Transcendent or Legendary species. The abilities I currently have are the limits of our race’s natural ability, so I can only enhance through a profession.
I’ve been meaning to tell the City Lord all along.
After slaying the dragon, I’ve already unlocked a professional template but haven’t had the chance to make a choice yet."
This was a matter of course.
Though she didn’t lay a finger on the young Red Dragon, she was a standard participant and played a crucial role.
They were indeed challenging far beyond their level.
Even if only a small portion of the experience was shared with her, it was quite astonishing.
It was likely not as simple as unlocking a profession template; she might even have skipped two levels at once.
"What professions can you unlock?" Gaven asked curiously.
"Paladin, Druid, and Ranger," Luna asked, "City Lord, which profession do you think I should choose?"
"Do you have a personal preference?" Gaven couldn’t directly choose for her and could only ask indirectly.
The Half-Moon Colt couldn’t help but sigh and said, "I personally like the Holy Warrior, since I was raised in a monastery. But apart from a few unique abilities that help me, I can use very few of the other abilities, especially things like Evil-Slaying Slash, as those are specifically designed for humanoid creatures."
"That’s true," Gaven nodded, "Ranger also has similar flaws. Druid will be the best choice for you, especially with Bestial Transformation. You can choose the opposite direction, pick a humanoid form, and thus, you will be able to cast spells.
Later on, you can choose material-free casting and wild casting, giving you the ability to cast spells in your true form."
"Personal preference and the most suitable choice will never truly be one and the same. I know how to choose now," the Half-Moon Colt nodded.
A surge of nature’s magic began to converge around her.
She was a pragmatist, not an idealist.
She chose the most suitable for herself over her ideals—Druid.
Just as Gaven had guessed, Luna skipped two levels directly.
Zalanda on the side added fuel to the fire, laughing, "I’ll give you a helping hand too."
With the flipping of the Path of War, a massive amount of magic power was drawn out and infused into the Half-Moon Colt.
Luna exclaimed in surprise, "What’s going on?"
Although Gaven and Zalanda did not avoid her during their conversation, without understanding the abilities of the Path of War, she only thought it was praise and did not expect there to be substantial rewards thereafter.
The magic power newly infused into her body was even larger than that directly obtained from the young Red Dragon.
And it made her skip two more levels again.
Don’t forget, she originally possessed four innate life dice.
Her leveling was not as simple as going from one to four, but compared to ordinary Combat Profession Practitioners, it was like going from four to eight, a tremendous surge in power.
She gained an increase of 4D8 in her life dice, improved one attribute, which she added to Perception. Along with acquiring spellcasting abilities, she also obtained six special abilities.
Animal Companion (Special Ability) – Can choose an animal as her companion, whose strength will increase along with her own.
Natural Sensing (Special Ability) – Easier to find natural food when outdoors.
Wild Identity (Special Ability) – Can influence the attitudes of animals using body language, tone, and expressions, receiving bonuses from Charisma and Druid levels.
Forest Stride (Special Ability) – She already obtained this ability when infused with the power of the Fairy Wilderness. The effect does not stack.
Traceless Step (Special Ability) – Leaves no footprints in natural terrain and cannot be tracked, but can choose to leave traces.
This ability wasn’t very useful to Luna since she could fly.
Resistance to Natural Temptation (Special Ability) – Has advantage when resisting the Spell-Like Abilities of the Fae Race (Tree Spirits, Little Fairies).
Overall, these abilities were more supportive, further stacking her advantages in jungles and nature, making her a genuine member of the Fae Race.
But the Bestial Transformation she needed most, a Supernatural Ability available to fifth-level Druids, was just one step away.
If Luna had to level up by herself, it would be a very troublesome matter, but with Gaven, she believed it would take only a few days. A month ago, if someone had told her that she could gain four levels in one day, she would have hoofed them, calling them a liar.
Gaven explained with a smile on the side, "The book in Sha’no’s hands is no ordinary spellbook, but a genuine Divine Artifact. It has the ability to gather magic power from the battlefield and bestow it upon the worthy. You’re the first beneficiary."
"So that’s it, thank you for the Lady’s grace," the Half-Moon Colt hurriedly thanked her.
