Chapter 348: Chapter 288 Crafting a Divine Artifact for Myself_1
"I don’t know if this counts as a God-given skill, but after destroying Chiaranlisha’s severed palm, I’ve become very sensitive to the breath of her followers, and I can roughly locate her position." With the perfect excuse of a God-given skill, Gaven naturally pushed the explanation in that direction.
He had just used the skill of the Blasphemer of the Goddess of Undead Revenge to locate the position of the Dwarves Vampire Sacrificer - being so close, it couldn’t possibly be another follower of the Goddess of Undead Revenge, as her followers were not that widespread.
With the groundwork laid by Destroy Evil, everyone naturally found it easier to accept, and it seemed like the most natural thing in the world.
August was the first to stand up and say, "What are we waiting for? Let’s go and kill that bastard now. He made us suffer so much, and if it weren’t for Brother Gaven’s God-given skill, we would have all perished here today. I bet that guy is still waiting to reap the benefits. If we go now, we will certainly catch him off guard."
"Are your bodies alright?" Gaven then remembered to care about their physical condition, as their soul consciousness had been dragged out of their bodies earlier on.
"I am already without major issues." August moved his limbs to prove his vitality, "What about you guys?"
"We’ve mostly recovered." The others got up one after another.
After all, they were all Transcendent Professionals, so their physical fitness was exceptionally good.
"Before that, let’s see if there are any survivors!" Olive suggested.
"Alright." Everyone else agreed.
Gaven flapped his Energy Dragon Wings immediately, flew across the Underground River, and checked on those humanoid creatures on the opposite side.
He also took the opportunity to move away from the crowd and deal with his own personal matters.
He performed the Divine Nature Fusion with the Revenge Pickaxe and Death Roar.
Due to his lack of a substantial concept of Divine Nature’s preciousness, Gaven used it without any hesitation.
He directly extracted a bit of Divine Nature from Weizemay Manor, poured it into the Revenge Pickaxe, then took out the Death Roar and initiated the Divine Nature Fusion.
The Revenge Pickaxe instantly turned into a pool of silver liquid, then began to spread along the Death Roar.
In for a penny, in for a pound.
The black orb formed from melting the Demigod Ruptured Palm was also slapped into the mix by Gaven.
The Death Roar was enveloped by both silver and black colors.
By the time the light dissipated, the appearance of the Death Roar had drastically changed.
The base was still the Pfeifer Zeliska revolver, but it now had less than a thirty percent resemblance to its original form.
The entire gun had a black base, inlaid with silver runes.
It possessed a unique fantasy color, beautiful like a piece of artwork.
For Gaven, this was secondary, the most important thing were the attributes.
Spirit Crystal Servant Second Form: Death Roar
Enhanced Psychic Bullet (Special Ability): This gun can fire Psychic Bullets, which have their range doubled when fired from this gun, slightly increase the difficulty of enemy Saving Throws, and cause small increases in both damage and stun duration.
Ghost Bullet (Special Ability): Automatically refills with specialized bullets daily, a total of five bullets.
Psychic Filling (Special Ability): Expends ten Spiritual Energy points to refill the magazine, once per day.
Double Tap (Special Ability): After hitting an enemy with a Ghost Bullet, it will automatically follow up with a Psychic Bullet that hits automatically, disregarding any Saving Throws.
Revenge (Special Ability) - When you wield Death Roar, anyone who attacks you will automatically receive the enemy BUFF, and with each layer added, you will do an extra 1D6 of damage when you attack them. The damage clears after it is dealt, with a maximum of 10 layers that can accumulate.
Revenge Skull Shatter (Special Ability) - When you counter attack your enemy with Death Roar, there is a chance to trigger the Skullcrusher effect, which disregards armor defense. The higher the Revenge BUFF layers, the higher the chance of activation.
Designate Enemy (Special Ability) - You can designate an enemy as your enemy. After designation, you will automatically receive five layers of the enemy BUFF, three times per day.
Undead Manipulation (Special Ability) - Those killed by Death Roar will turn into ghosts to fight for you, lasting 24 hours, with a control number equal to your Intelligence Modifier.
Undead Revenge Domain (Special Ability) - When activated, it opens a 100-meter diameter field of Undead Revenge around you, all people within are considered your enemy, automatically adding one BUFF layer each round, calculated separately for each person, lasting one minute, once every ten days.
Even with mental preparation, Gaven was still thoroughly shocked by the new properties of Death Roar when he finished reading.
It was a Divine Artifact.
This weapon could definitely be called a Divine Artifact, and most Divine Artifacts probably didn’t possess such formidable attributes.
Gaven had repeatedly tested the Death Roar. Its specialized bullets on their own deal 5D8 (20-40) damage.
Don’t think that’s a low amount.
A tenth-level Mage’s Fireball Technique only does 10D6 (30-60) damage.
The Life Force of a fifth-level Warrior is also just about thirty to forty points.
And this kind of damage refers to hitting the torso and such; if you shoot at the head, unless it’s a special monster like a Vampire, it’s basically a one-shot kill.
Now there’s an addition of Revenge.
Once the enemy BUFF stacks to ten layers, one shot will do 5D8+10D6 (50-100) damage, enough to instantly kill any Transcendent Professional below.
Not to mention, now there’s Designate Enemy, which starts with five layers of BUFF, no need to passively wait for a stack, 5D8+5D6 (35-70) damage, not something the average person can withstand.
Undead Manipulation is undoubtedly a power granted by undead attributes, fitting for handling group fights. Without activating other abilities, Gaven can control five ghosts.
The Undead Revenge Domain is an outright cheat.
Once activated, coupled with a few Revenge abilities, the lethality is simply terrifying.
As for Psychic Filling, it is a new ability born from enhancement.
Using ten Psychic Power Points to exchange for five specialized bullets is not a loss at all.
Just as Gaven finished his private maneuverings, the others had already gathered together again.
There was no need to ask; from their expressions, it was clear that not a single soul had survived on the other side of the Underground River.
Even if they hadn’t bled to death, their souls had been sucked away by the Demigod Ruptured Palm and had become the sacrifices needed to activate it.
Olive said with great heaviness, "They are not just dead, their souls have also completely perished. Unless the gods descend, there is no way to resurrect them!"
"Damned Vampire, let’s go—we’ll make her pay for her evil deeds." August said with fury boiling over.
They couldn’t find trouble with the followers of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance, so they could only take their anger out on the executor.
"Alright." Gaven nodded and took the lead, rushing north with everyone else.
The ability to mark sounds fanciful and magical.
But when Gaven truly used it, he found it all too familiar.
Wasn’t this just like in computer games, where quest locations and targets are automatically marked for players to track and run around the map?
The convenience level didn’t even come close to the automatic tracking systems in computer games, which everyone had. It would not optimize routes, nor show actual distances, and wouldn’t even reveal the true identity of the target. It was quite possible to track for a long time, only to find the wrong target upon arrival.
The only time a rough estimate of the distance appeared was when Gaven used the ability, and his mental thoughts spread out, judging based on the time it took for information to be fed back.
A mere few seconds of sensing meant the target couldn’t be too far, and a sensation after over a dozen seconds indicated a naturally greater distance.
The only certainty was that anything Gaven could sense and mark was definitely within a hundred kilometers.
That’s right.
It was not one, but three followers of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance that Gaven had now marked and sensed.
One of them was a little closer to them, while the remaining two were far away, and judging from the direction, they seemed to be deep in the Comanso Great Forest. Whether they were above ground or below was hard to determine.
If Gaven ran there only to find that his enemies were in a dark domain a hundred meters deep, that would be quite embarrassing.
So, the Blasphemer’s artifact, which seemed to be aimed at hunting followers of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance, had a multitude of situations to consider when actually used.
...
Less than three kilometers away, in a straight line from the sealed site.
There was another Elven Tomb.
This tomb was of the more common kind, without any hauntings or zombies, which also meant it was quite narrow. There was only a small tomb of less than dozens of square meters with two stone coffins laid side by side.
Such Elven Tombs, while not ubiquitous in the Comanso Great Forest, were certainly not uncommon.
It was a standard tomb for Elven commoners.
As for the notion that Elves were a forest race with no burial customs—that upon death, they would be buried under a large tree to merge with the tree and nature—was nothing more than a misunderstanding spread by other races. That custom belonged to Druids, not Elves.
Most Elven burial ceremonies were actually very similar to human ones.
Or it might be better to say that human burial rites originated from the Elves, but it was so long ago that humans had forgotten.
In a world where gods, souls, and ghosts all exist, death was a sacred and solemn affair.
The burial ceremony was both a farewell and a unique sending-off ritual, demanding the utmost care, including in its execution.
A slight carelessness, and the deceased might just lift the lid of their coffin to come and settle the score with those who disrespected them.
In the past, Belinda wouldn’t have given such a tomb a second glance, as she was someone with status. She would only choose the most luxurious tombs, and her comings and goings would be attended by a host of Vampire Derivatives.
But this time, she had to stoop low, even sending away the last two Vampire Derivatives to create elusive tracks.
All this was to mislead that group of unknown enemies and the mysterious power of the Blasphemer.
That Belinda was well aware of the Blasphemer being in Battle Valley was crystal clear to her.
However, unlike those other fervent followers who went looking for trouble with the Blasphemer, Belinda had no interest in this mission, at least not until she had gathered enough intelligence.
Can an ordinary person become a Blasphemer?
Merely a few curses were not enough, even for the Goddess of Undead Vengeance, who was notoriously vindictive. She would not mobilize her followers and mark someone as a Blasphemer, and confer an oracle, without good reason.
Surely the Blasphemer must have threatened or harmed the interests of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance for her to act this way.
Whoever could do this was definitely not an average person.
Rushing in blindly, it was really hard to tell who would annihilate whom.
And indeed, that was what happened with the fool Dilila. The scouting party she sent out, acting rashly, was annihilated not a one returned, including the secondary Sacrificer Daphne, who, it was said, could not be revived.
The rest who could be brought back to life had their pre-death memories tampered with; they only remembered reaching the outskirts of Ghost Manor. The memories within the manor were all gone, but one thing remained: fear, a fear that penetrated deep into the bone marrow.
Mention Ghost Manor or the name of the Blasphemer, and they would involuntarily shiver all over, wishing they could curl up into a ball.
This incident sounded the alarm for all followers of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance, telling them that this Blasphemer was not easy to deal with, and that Ghost Manor was not so easy to break into.
Before going there, they should be prepared for death—permanent death.
Now all followers of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance were in a wait-and-see state, or rather, they were actively amassing strength, looking for a more suitable opportunity to face the Blasphemer.
Yet without having gone looking for the Blasphemer, the Blasphemer had come looking for her.
The instant she sensed the presence of the Blasphemer, the connection with her right-hand men was also abruptly cut off; the coffins that housed their origin exploded on the spot.
And with the explosion of the coffins, Belinda’s composure shattered as well.
