Chapter 316: Chapter 258 Wandering Spirit Group_1

After moving out of the Demi-Humans’ line of sight, Gaven unfurled his Energy Dragon Wings and began to run, flapping the wings to speed up his pace.

This mode of half-running, half-gliding travel was somewhat faster than simply running or flying.

It took Gaven just over two minutes to cover two kilometers.

When he arrived, the Dog Demon was leading the Wild Wolf Pack in a siege against the enemy, but the situation was far from optimistic.

Six or seven wolves lay dead on the spot.

Their deaths were quite bizarre,

with not a single wound on their bodies, but their corpses were extremely shriveled, almost like mummified remains.

Not to mention the hesitation of the wolves, even the Dog Demon seemed to be at its wit’s end, circling the enemy non-stop, occasionally scratching with one or two claws, to no great effect. Its strongest Special Ability, Gnawing, was useless here.

Because this time, they were facing a very special kind of enemy.

It wasn’t just one or two enemies, but a whole group—a group of field mice.

A group of field mice would normally not be feared, as the wolves were expert mouse hunters, and even thousands would not be enough for the pack to tear apart.

But if the group of field mice turned into a group of ghosts, the situation was different.

Wandering Spirit Group

Tiny Undead Creature (Incorporeal, Cluster)

Life Force: 114 (Life Dice: 12D12+24)

Attributes: Strength -, Dexterity 18, Constitution -, Intelligence 2, Perception 11, Charisma 18

Special Ability: Strength Damage (Special Ability) — Creatures engulfed by the Wandering Spirit Group have their Life Force drained, and will die when their Strength reaches zero.

Mental Disturbance (Special Ability) — Any creature targeted and engulfed by the Wandering Spirit Group will experience significant psychic disturbance, making it hard to concentrate and break free.

Characteristics: Resistance to slashing and piercing damage halved, Incorporeal Creature Traits, Cluster Creature Traits, Undead Creature Traits.

These Field Mouse Spirits had become cluster creatures and even had their own unique designation.

It had already been said that in Felen, death was not the end, but rather a new beginning.

Even the inconspicuous and weak field mouse was no exception.

In their mass culling of rabbits and mice in the vineyard, Gaven and his group had created a large number of tiny animal spirits within a short period. These spirits, congregating together, would give rise to the Wandering Spirit Group.

Especially within Weizemay Manor, where the negative energy was so dense that even the surrounding areas were affected, making spiritual phenomena and supernatural events more likely to occur.

Although the Wandering Spirit Group was not highly intelligent, they had a deep-seated memory of hatred for those who had killed them—the wolves.

Squeaking threateningly, they tried to lunge at the wolves.

This type of mouse cry was of a spiritual nature, directly entering a person’s soul, causing irritation and unease, and could even slow down one’s actions by half a beat.

Particularly the targeted wolves seemed to be sleepwalking.

The Wandering Spirit Group immediately took the opportunity to rush over and engulf them in the ghostly swarm.

The ghostly mice ferociously gnawed at the wolves, yet no visible damage could be seen.

But the wolves being gnawed let out desperate and agonizing howls, as if something was being violently nibbled away, their bodies visibly shrinking at a rapid pace.

The approaching Gaven, without a second thought, pulled out his Revolving Hand Cannon and fired at the Wandering Spirit Group and the enveloped wolves.

In the resounding boom,

The somewhat shriveled wolf was blown into two halves, with flesh flying everywhere but hardly any blood to be seen.

They had clearly been completely drained by the Wandering Spirit Group.

Under the Double Tap condition, seven or eight ghostly mice were instantly blown to pieces.

The lethality was, quite frankly, laughable.

There were hundreds of ghostly mice in the Wandering Spirit Group.

At this rate of killing,

It would take dozens of shots to rid them all, a tall order.

The problem was, Gaven’s Revolving Hand Cannon only had five shots, and although he had plenty of Psychic Bullets, they were even less effective.

The cluster, although possessing group intelligence, did not act as individuals when attacked.

A Psychic Bullet could only kill one ghostly mouse at most.

Gaven’s shot was like poking a hornet’s nest.

The Wandering Spirit Group, chirping noisily, locked their hatred on him and furiously pounced.

Only after they targeted him did Gaven realize just how annoying their ability to disturb the mind was.

It felt as though countless mice were gnawing at his skull and eardrums in his mind, causing extreme annoyance and irritability.

Crystal Cluster.

Gaven summoned his most skilled cluster Special Ability.

An arc of Star Material fragments shot towards the Wandering Spirit Group, covering the sky.

Crystal Cluster, though usually incredibly powerful against cluster creatures, proved futile this time.

Most of the Star Material fragments simply passed through the Wandering Spirit Group.

This ability, even though a Special Ability, belonged to the creation category, physicalizing Star Material; it was a material attack rather than a spiritual one, which naturally decreased its effectiveness against a Spiritual Body.

Physical attacks had at least a 50 percent chance of missing when directed against spiritual creatures.

Because all Spiritual Body Creatures existed not solely in the physical realm but also partly in the Ether Space, flickering in and out continuously, only at such a high frequency that it was imperceptible to most.

After discovering his most powerful group attack was ineffective, Gaven took to the air with a flap of his wings, trying to evade the attack of the Wandering Spirit Group.

But unexpectedly, the swarm of ghostly mice chased him on the ethereal plane.

Being spirits, their movement didn’t rely on running but on flight, with running being a continuation of their instincts in life.
