Chapter 272: Chapter 218 Three Choices (End of This Volume)_2

Moreover, the battlefield is a place of complex situations.

Mages in close combat, capable of unleashing extraordinary power, are not uncommon, with the Dragon Oak Dream Realm being a prime example.

Dead Magic Zones, Magic Prohibition Zones, and Magic Prohibition Domains are not uncommon in Felen.

Lord Virginia places great importance on close-combat skills, and the fights between his two fairies often begin with sparring in close combat.

Gaven, on the other hand, had reached the threshold of level four, proceeding along the predetermined path of the Arcane Adept, choosing not to continue improving as a Psychic Sorcerer but instead to multiclass as a Mage.

In this level-up, he was also awarded a point for Attribute Enhancement, a fixed reward that comes every four professional levels.

Without hesitation, Gaven allocated it to Intelligence, bringing his intrinsic Intelligence attribute to a Transcendent score of 20, so that even without the use of Bionic Art, he could still use the Transcendent bonus ability of Overclocking.

The warrior’s bonus feat was chosen to be Jump Attack.

In truth, with the Boots of Jumping, selecting this ability was somewhat disadvantageous as it caused an overlap in capabilities.

This was offset by the special ability unlocked after combining certain feats.

When a professional possesses the feats Evasion, Agile Movement, and Jump Attack, they can unleash Jump Slash or Jump Stab with slashing or piercing weapons, inflicting remarkably lethal damage.

This special ability is among the easiest and most practical to unlock for agile warriors in the early stages.

Upon taking the Mage profession, the first level automatically unlocks the feats Scroll Transcription and Arcane Familiar.

The former allows Mages to create magic scrolls and increases the success rate.

The latter grants a Mage an Arcane Familiar, similar in nature to a Spirit Crystal Servant, which improves alongside the advancement of the Mage’s professional level.

Since many abilities overlap with those of the Spirit Crystal Servant, Gaven felt that obtaining an Arcane Familiar would not greatly enhance his strength; without a suitable one available, he has not yet chosen a familiar.

As for specialization in a school of magic, Gaven directly chose the Universal School.

Because he intended to advance as an Arcane Adept, raising both his Psychic Sorcerer and Mage levels simultaneously.

This decision meant that he had dual casting methods: if he exhausted his spell slots, he still had Psychic Abilities, and vice versa.

He did not need the additional spell slots provided by a specialized school; rather, it was more advantageous to be versatile, able to learn all spells, especially since he had acquired a vast amount of spell knowledge from Lord Virginia and was less reliant on the spells provided by the Magic Network.

Apart from a few unique spells, Gaven had obtained all the first through third circle spells from Lord Virginia, and what remained was to gradually study and integrate this knowledge.

This is what makes a Mage most formidable, yet also most troublesome.

As long as you have the capability and energy, you can gather all the spells in the world into your Mage’s book.

Even for someone like Lord Virginia, who rules over a province of the Fairy Wilderness, having collected only the most easily gathered spells of the first three circles; as the level of the spells increases, the fewer one possesses, especially beyond the fifth circle, they cannot simply be purchased with money.

Unless inherited or exchanged for equal-level spells, one has to rely on the few basic spells gifted by the Magic Network.

Not to mention some ancient heritages or proprietary spells.
