Chapter 1339: Chapter 713 Completion of City of Faith
"Thank you for your kind offer, Lady, but I believe safeguarding the forest, while related to one’s profession, isn’t limited to it. Should those without professions directly linked to the forest or nature not shoulder this responsibility?"
If that’s the case, then it’s far too narrow-minded and would hinder the recruitment of more people to join this cause effectively."
"People protect forests and cherish nature not merely out of self-interest, but from a sense of duty. This is our shared homeland, and we are responsible for it."
"Sometimes, stepping outside the confines of established frameworks allows one to see things more clearly and from a unique perspective. Should I choose to walk the Druid’s path, I might fall into conventions and lose the spark of creativity."
In a tactful manner, Gaven declined the Forest Lady’s offer. Deep inside, he chuckled to himself, as his professional system had been painstakingly built and couldn’t be shattered so easily.
If such an opportunity had been presented in his previous life, he certainly wouldn’t have refused.
Unfortunately, these True Gods are highly pragmatic and wouldn’t just hand out benefits unless they could derive greater gains from the action.
"Good, good, good; your words are indeed insightful. If everyone shared such a perspective, harmonious coexistence and progress wouldn’t merely be wishful thinking. In this matter, it seems I was the one being narrow-minded."
Remarkably, instead of being offended, the Forest Lady felt delighted with Gaven’s response. She began to view him in an even higher regard, realizing her earlier decision was wisely made. This man might truly play a pivotal role in advancing the relationship between nature and sentient beings.
The Natural Deity entered a reflective state and murmured, "Can you enter the Fusion State so I can observe the specifics?"
"Certainly," Gaven answered without hesitation and directly fused with Five-Willow, utilizing the Five-Willow Overstate Full Form.
"How fascinating, truly fascinating. You are, indeed, one of them, and have seamlessly integrated your professional abilities into this union."
The Forest Lady circled around the giant Five-Willow Overstate Full Form several times and remarked, "I believe I now understand what to do. What you need isn’t to fully summon Five-Willow to your side but to leverage the fusion transformation ability they support. You already share a close soul connection, making this process simpler than imagined. Hand me your wand."
Gaven understood she was referring to the Dragon Oak Staff, handed it over without hesitation, and vaguely guessed what she intended to do.
Sure enough, once the Dragon Oak Staff entered her hands, it emitted a vibrant green light, piercing through the Plane Barrier and connecting directly with the Dragon Oak Mother Tree. For a moment, the barrier thinned to an extreme, revealing the outlines of the Mother Tree with clarity.
A dazzling pillar of light descended from the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, landing directly upon the Five-Willow Overstate Full Form.
The Forest Queen handed the Dragon Oak Staff back to him and said, "It’s done."
The simplicity of the process left everyone astonished. As Gaven disengaged from the fusion, the first thing he did was examine the updated attributes of the Dragon Oak Staff.
He found that alongside its previous functions, a new ability had been added: the summoning of Five-Willow.
This allowed him to summon one of the Five-Willow personalities instead of all of them. To summon all five, it would require a consumption of twenty-five charges.
While this expenditure was considerable, the tremendous assistance they provided made it worthwhile.
Moreover, this method was primarily intended for unexpected conflicts. If Gaven were to plan and strategize for a battle, he would summon them ahead of time, negating the need for this ability.
Grateful for achieving his goal, Gaven offered heartfelt thanks, "Thank you, Lady."
"This matter was purely technical, simplified only by the Forest Queen’s expertise. In anyone else’s hands, it would be an insurmountable challenge, as she truly excels in this field."
"From start to finish, I utilized nothing but your own strength. Why thank me?" The Forest Queen replied with a smile. "The Dragon Oak Mother Tree holds immense potential, especially with the Light of Dream. If harnessed effectively, it could serve as a rapid method to deploy forces. You would do well to explore its possibilities."
"Thank you, Lady, for your guidance," Gaven expressed his gratitude once again.
"Your Majesty, can our symbiotic trees be awakened as Treants, like Lady Lola’s linked tree?" Queen Arosh’s confidant, Radanaxi, asked in an opportune moment.
While Gaven and the Forest Queen were experimenting, the Tree Spirits of the Kingdom of Arosh had gathered around Lola. The transformation of her parasitic tree into a Treant drew concealed envy from them all.
Especially after learning that she followed the Conqueror Army’s migration for over two thousand kilometers, they stood in awe. Such feats had surpassed their imagination.
Though truly granting them the ability to venture outward might not necessarily prompt them to do so (due to their shy nature and reclusive habits, only partly related to their symbiotic nature with trees), it couldn’t hinder them from dreaming. To many, travel plans often remained forever unfulfilled fantasies.
"You only see the convenience of it but neglect the pitfalls hidden within. The symbiotic relationship between the two is mutual and irrevocable. She cannot utilize the Symbiotic Transfer Ritual to shift this relationship to other trees because part of their Soul Consciousness is shared."
"This means her allowed instances of death are finite. Excessive deaths would inversely impact the connected Treant, leading to both slipping into perpetual death."
