Chapter 1115: Chapter 638: Godhood Segment_2

Gaven didn’t even need to take out the grand military map; he understood Katherine’s real plan as soon as he heard it. After pondering for a few seconds, he said: "I can reassign the Pioneer Army of the Founders and the Road-Building Team to you, lady, but you’ll have to wait about half a month. I need them to help me widen the High Road from Bridge of Faith to Rocklands. Moreover, I can only lend them to you for up to two months. I will have a major military operation before the end of the year that will require their assistance."

The way the Conqueror Army rapidly builds roads now is only feasible on plains, and it’s of no use in swamps, let alone the rugged and difficult terrain of Rocklands. The road construction here must be left to the Gnolls of Dragon Oak Territory.

"Two months is enough." Having witnessed the capability of the Conqueror Army’s Road-Building Team, Katherine knew that two months was plenty of time. Not only would she be able to construct the short cuts she mentioned, but she would also have sufficient time to build a round trip through the Green Wilderness.

"Your Majesty warned us when leaving that there was something strange about the Far Sea Marsh and told me not to act recklessly. Counting the time, Veranika and her troops should have driven the defeated soldiers over here by now. Would you like to go check it out together?" Gaven extended the invitation. Lady Strategy, limited by her divine position, couldn’t give a definite response, but Katherine had no such restrictions.

"Oh? Something like this is happening? Let’s go have a look." A strong curiosity welled up in Katherine. A matter hinted at by the lady herself must certainly be beyond the ordinary.

Katherine immediately grabbed Gaven and activated the Teleportation Spell, appearing not far from Veranika. However, they didn’t meet up with her but instead soared into the air to observe the entire battlefield situation.

Gaven timed it perfectly; the monster’s defeated army was less than three kilometers from the Far Sea Marsh.

Normally, a swamp wouldn’t have clear boundaries since it could expand or shrink with the water levels and also have large mixed zones.

But Far Sea Marsh did because it was enveloped in a thick mist.

That scene was very much like a Mist Barrier that chose the Mist Wall Ability, where the air seemed to have an invisible wall, shaping those mists solely on its side, while the other side had not even a wisp of excess mist.

Although the mist of the Far Sea Marsh was not as clear-cut as the Mist Wall, it was still very obvious from the outside. It was massive; one could not see its edge at a glance, and it was impossible to see clearly what was inside, as if existing in two separate worlds.

This mist had no effect on Gaven, who could easily see inside. But he wished he hadn’t because the scene was the epitome of filth, distortion, and strange capabilities.

All the trees inside were lumpy, twisted, and half-dead; branches were hung with bloody flesh and entrails, while trunks were smeared with various disturbing and twisted runes.

All the swamp pools were dark and murky. There was no need to smell them to know—just one glance was enough to confirm they must exude an odor that ordinary people couldn’t endure. The water plants growing in them were twisted and tangled, as if alive, and countless huge bubbles surfaced from the black water, occasionally rippling, hinting at unspeakable dangers lurking beneath.

The swamp itself was a place filled with lurking dangers, and Far Sea Marsh had evolved this to an extreme.

The root cause of this phenomenon lay in the three powerful Ghost Witches.

All Legendary Creatures had a strong natural environment harmony ability; they subtly transformed their long-term habitats into lairs that suited their abilities and temperament, giving rise to unique lair environments and Nest Abilities.

This was exceptionally highlighted in those dark creatures, as their environments would darken, becoming easier to contrast.

Normally, the area a Legendary Creature could affect wouldn’t exceed ten kilometers; even a fully grown Giant Dragon could only influence that much.

Even if the three Ghost Witches were all Legendary and their combined strength quite formidable, they shouldn’t have turned the entire Far Sea Marsh into their lair.

Could the enveloping mist be a Nest Ability of theirs?

"Ha ha... Ha ha... We’re finally going to shake off those damned Cavalry. Hurry, quickly into the mist; if we get into the mist, into the swamp, they won’t be able to find us."

"Run, run, only by entering the mist, entering the swamp can we be truly safe."

"We can’t just go in; this is a man-eating mist. Many who entered the mist never came out again."

"We’re not going deep into the mist; we’re just going to take temporary shelter inside. Once the enemy leaves, we’ll immediately come out."

"You choose whether to enter the mist or wait for the enemy to chop off your heads."

"What’s there to say, of course, we go into the mist. At least there’s a chance to live in the mist; staying outside is just waiting for death."

"Lead these outsiders into the mist; they know nothing of its and the swamp’s ferocity."

"That’s right, the swamp will devour them! The swamp will seek our revenge."

The monsters’ defeated soldiers, upon seeing the mist of the Far Sea Marsh, showed not fear of old but an uncontrollable ecstasy and ran crazily towards the mist.

For them, this mist and swamp were their only chance to escape the murders pursuing them from behind.

The Nort Guard Heavy Cavalry and Hobgoblin Wolf Cavalry clung to them like maggots on a bone.
