Chapter 1110: Chapter 636: Stealing Faith?! _3
But that was all because they took advantage of their internal weaknesses and lack of unity; the Komeer Kingdom is different.
They have been established for a millennium, and while they have suffered several setbacks and periods of decline, the foundation of the nation has never been truly shaken. The reigning King Yasan IV is known as the Restorer. In the thirty years under his rule, although the Komeer Kingdom hasn’t expanded its territories significantly, the internal governance has been unprecedentedly just and enlightened.
He vigorously reformed corruption, the increasingly grave issue of noble land annexation, reaffirmed the fundamental principles of the Komeer Kingdom, made the Purple Dragon Legion and War Mages more systematic and standardized, and actively employed bankrupt nobles and small to medium-sized Knight families, injecting more vitality into the kingdom and firmly grasping control from top to bottom in his and the surrounding Obysque Royal Family.
In diplomacy, he is firm yet flexible. Half of Felen knows that the old dragon of the Komeer Kingdom won’t be provoked – if you stand firm against him, you’ll find that his teeth are harder, his claws sharper, and his body larger.
The only gripe is that Yasan IV is quite fond of using all sorts of spies. From the Nobles and War Mages to the merchants and foot soldiers, it seems they all have spies loyal directly to him. What should be known and what shouldn’t—somehow, he seems to know it all. This has left every noble in the Komeer Kingdom cautious in their speech and actions, fearing a careless word might reach the ears of Yasan IV.
Although Yasan IV is magnanimous and never minds jokes about his own romantic rumors, his status is unassailable. When he laughs and discusses behind your back the trivial gossip you said about him yesterday, anyone would tremble.
If placed in the Valley, just the size of the Conqueror Army could already match most of the population of an entire valley.
But in Thacel, it’s just half a city’s populace; it is the same in the Komeer Kingdom, with just big cities counting over a hundred thousand people, they have three, in addition to countless towns and villages.
They boast the Purple Dragon Legion alone has a hundred thousand members, not to mention various local garrisons, navies, and so on.
Even if these are inflated numbers, considering the length of their borders to be defended, halving it to fifty thousand is certainly possible. To monitor the movements of the Conqueror Army, they casually deployed a detachment of the Purple Dragon Legion numbering three thousand, which shows their potential for war.
Next, Gaven intends to pressure the Komeer Kingdom to bestow him with the title of Rockland Baron, not by stationing troops at their doorstep and coercing them with brute force. Even if the size of the Conqueror Army doubled, Gaven wouldn’t be confident in breaching the gates of the Komeer Kingdom and crossing the nation.
Creating a momentum where he can lead the Conqueror Army to thoroughly cleanse the Rocklands, enticing the Komeer Kingdom from top to bottom with the massive benefits, would be the wisest choice.
When Gaven arrived before the Crown Princess and her companions, Simmon, the Dark Castle Chairman, was already nowhere to be seen. A second before the Incarnation of Lady Strategy descended for ascension, he had already run off, not only because that cunning old fox knew their disruption had utterly failed, but also because he feared that the Incarnation of the Goddess of Strategy might casually strike him down there and then.
"Thank you for your assistance, Your Majesties. We will keep your kindness deep in our hearts. This small gift is a modest token of gratitude; please accept it with our compliments." With a gesture from Gaven, three palm-sized but extraordinarily exquisite gift boxes flew as if they had grown wings, directly into the hands of the three Komeer representatives.
Although it was only the Crown Princess who made a move, the other two will play pivotal roles in the history of the Komeer Kingdom. Gaven naturally would not overlook them, taking the opportunity to cultivate good relations, which was bound to be profitable.
"General is too kind. It was but a small effort for us, and besides, given your unsurpassed strategies, even without me distracting that Dark Archmage, I believe you would have prepared accordingly," replied the Crown Princess with sparkling eyes, unable to hide the complexity within. Besides indescribable emotions, there was also genuine admiration.
Today, she truly broadened her horizon as to how wars could be fought. They had played to the extreme with planning, scheming, and tactics.
Just look at how many strategies and tactics they used in this battle:
The first move was named Creating Confusion, using the inertia of road construction to lure the Lizard Queen and her Lizardfolk Army towards the Far Sea Marsh, reducing the number of enemies they had to face from three to two.
The second move, Surprise Assault, used a never-before-seen method to create a Bridge of Faith within a mere few minutes. Upon seeing this tactic, not just the Monster Force was shocked; the impact on their hearts was just as profound. If this tactic were used on them, they wouldn’t have been prepared because they had never considered that a Goddess could be exploited, that she could become a piece on their chessboard.
The third move, Feigned Weakness, lured the Lizard Queen onto the Bridge of Faith.
The fourth move, Beheading Strategy, utilized the nature of the Lizard Court to subjugate the Lizard Queen, turning her forces to their advantage, altering the entire balance of the war.
The first four moves were somewhat within the realm of the mundane, but the nature of what followed was completely different.
The fifth move, Ascension Tactic, made full use of the ascension event of the Goddess of Strategy, turning it into part of their campaign. They knew that the enemies of the Goddess of Strategy would seize the moment of her ascension to emerge. No matter which Evil God acted, the Monster Force against the Conqueror Army was the only thing they could exploit. They had to initiate this Divine War from a disadvantaged position. The Plunderer Kallargos merely became a target within this grand chessboard, and his defeat was inevitable.
The sixth move, Defensive Counter-Attack.
The seventh move, Pocket Formation.
The eighth move, Bead Curtain Roll-Up.
The ninth move, Divine Intervention, was not born out of thin air. It was driven by the unwavering Power of Faith gathered from the Conqueror Army’s comprehensive counterattack against the Monster Army. Under this tactic, Plunderer Kallargos became like a formation battered by panicked troops, directly restrained, and then obliterated with the aid of a Unique Treant’s Thunderstrike capability. If this wasn’t Divine Intervention, what else could it be?
