Chapter 1078: Chapter 626: The Decisive Opportunity

Goblin’s offense and Lady Strategy’s defense are unlike any other, Six-armed Snake Demon and Plunderer’s Chosen engage in the most classic head-to-head assault, lightning-fast, numerous against numerous, their speed too swift, their arms too many, creating an impression that the sky is filled with arms, with weapons clashing incessantly with a din of metallic echoes.

Both seem evenly matched, at a stalemate for the moment.

The problem is, this isn’t a one-on-one duel—there’s a Legendary Spellcaster lurking not far from this Plunderer’s Chosen.

While he was entangled by the Six-armed Snake Demon, Ms. Katherine was free to prepare a potent spell; she opted not for an Eighth-Ring or Ninth-Ring Spell, but rather readied a Sixth-Ring Spell, Chain Lightning, for often the most effective spell isn’t necessarily the one with the highest tier, but the one suited to the situation.

This spell can be regarded as an advanced version of Lightning Binding, differing in that after striking one target, it arcs towards another, and then leaps to yet another, as long as the targets are within ten meters of each other.

The damage inflicted by this spell, as well as the number of secondary targets, are closely related to the caster’s level, up to twenty. The primary target suffers 20d6 (20-120) damage, and all secondary targets take 10d6 (10-60) damage, with a maximum of twenty targets reachable at once, but the same target will not suffer from the lightning damage twice. Ms. Katherine just so happens to unleash this spell’s full potential.

The Blood Plunderers and Blood Berserkers accompanying the Plunderer’s Chosen are numerous and densely clustered; lacking the ability to evade, the moment the spell is cast, the spectacle doesn’t need elaboration—sizzling and crackling, the sky fills with arcing bolts of lightning constantly leaping, each target struck, shuddering uncontrollably for seconds, even after the lightning has moved on from their bodies.

Within the Red Falcon Knights, Katherine isn’t the only one who can cast Chain Lightning; in fact, over a dozen knights can. They cast their Chain Lightning spells one after another, with those struck not receiving secondary damage from the same caster, but other spellcasters’ Chain Lightnings can target the same individual.

Once the lightning ceased to leap, it was time for the Hobgoblin’s Chosen and his Blood Plunderers to sweep the field. Following his charge, both Blood Plunderers and Blood Berserkers lay curled up on the ground, charred beyond recognition—dead is an understatement.

Confronted with such a sight, even the Six-armed Snake Demon paused for a brief moment, before grabbing the charred corpse of the Plunderer’s Chosen and, at full speed, running towards Gaven while calling out, "Lord, prepare Destroy Evil quickly, this is the corpse of an Evil Deity’s Chosen, see if you can extract something valuable from it."

Since absorbing a portion of the power from the Bottomless Abyss Lord, the Six-armed Snake Demon, upon sighting powerful evil beings, gleams with anticipation to chop them up and present them to Gaven to see if something useful can be extracted.

Although she isn’t entirely pleased with the abnormal growth of multiple arms on this Plunderer’s Chosen, she cannot deny his unique qualities, especially in the use of weapons that seem impossibly sophisticated. Obviously, he has acquired strength of a Master of a Hundred Arms from the Plunderer; if such power could be extracted and implemented within herself, it would significantly enhance her own strength.

Gaven naturally wouldn’t refuse such an offer and came forward to initiate Destroy Evil, igniting the body of the Plunderer’s Chosen. The invisible flames ferociously consumed the corpse, like meeting their nemesis, leaving no trace. Whether it was the act of plunder or destruction, it belonged to a kind of evil power; being immersed in this divine power, the Plunderer’s Chosen was deemed evil, regardless of his original nature—and all the more so given his unclean essence.

"What’s going on?" But as the flames died down, not just the Six-armed Snake Demon but Gaven himself appeared puzzled.

The flames of Destroy Evil had completely consumed the corpse of the Plunderer’s Chosen, leaving not a single trace.

Gaven, quick to react, mused, "Could it be that this has to do with all these Chosen being temporary? Their abilities were forcibly induced by Plunderer Kallargos using divine power, and the moment that power is exhausted, they revert to their original state. What burned just now was the divine power of the Plunderer, and since it was an empty shell without a soul, no essence could be extracted."

"It’s the only explanation that makes sense," replied the Six-armed Snake Demon, licking her blades with her tongue, her greedy gaze shifting to the incarnation of Plunderer Karazgos, "Since these temporary Chosens are just empty shells, then his incarnation must possess the abilities. Is there a way to pull that guy down from the sky and chop him into pieces?"

She’s been quite full of herself lately, not even regarding the incarnation of an Evil Deity with Feeble Divine Power.

"He belongs to the Goddess of Strategy. You just lead the charge forward, drive the rest of the Monster Army to the north, and I’m going to roll up the bead curtain, use these defeated soldiers to impact the Abyssal Jackalweres Legion in Far Sea Marsh," Gaven pointed in the direction of the Abyssal Jackalweres Army.
