Chapter 1063: Chapter 621: Soldier Versus Soldier
"Blood Frenzy!" The Blood Plunderers leading the charge of the Monster Soldiers unleashed their newly acquired Spell-Like Abilities. The Blood Cloaks swirling around their bodies suddenly expanded more than tenfold, enveloping all the Monster Soldiers nearby.
As they ran wildly, they couldn’t help but let out excited howls, their muscles bulging, their eyes bloodshot, and their bodies completely filled with blood, showing endless brutality with no trace of sanity.
Especially upon seeing blood, they burst forth as if ignited, charging forward with a wild cry. Weapons, limbs, teeth, their entire bodies—all became instruments of their relentless attack. In the blink of an eye, those in their path were gruesomely torn to shreds.
But the first to be attacked were not the enemies; it was the injured Monster Soldiers.
Without exception, their blood was completely drained by the Blood Plunderers’ Blood Cloaks, most of it going into the hands of the Blood Plunderers, with a lesser amount going to those who initiated the attacks, making them even more berserk, more towering, naturally more powerful.
This was the true nature of Blood Frenzy; upon seeing blood, they lost all reason and launched into a savage assault, completely indifferent to whether the targets were foes or allies, even relatives wouldn’t cause them to hesitate.
Plunderer Kallargos was breeding a menace, using the weak to enhance the strong, making them more formidable, capable of exerting greater power on the battlefield.
All things under heaven can be plundered.
Wealth, life, soul, strength—all can be taken.
Of course, the power gained through such forcible means was consumable; as the blood entered their bodies and kept burning, it slowly decayed.
But this unusual tactic was precisely what countered the densely packed, formidable defensive formations of the Conqueror Army.
When these Monster Soldiers once again breached the ranged attack coverage of their enemies, their formation had already grown sparse inadvertently forming a skirmish tactic.
Most importantly, the strength of those dead soldiers was not wasted—it all converted into the power of the Blood Berserkers, heaps of Life Dice, superb combat reactivity, and ample dodging space significantly reducing the lethality of the Conqueror Army’s range attacks.
Especially formidable were those Blood Plunderers, entwined in the Blood Cloaks from another exclusive sacrificial spell by Plunderer Kallargos named Blood Cloak, a spell formed of the victims’ blood.
Just like the Blood Plunderers’ Divine Blood Fury, what surrounded them wasn’t just a regular Blood Cloak spell but a Divine Blood Cloak, granting the spell various unique abilities.
For instance, it could be used as a medium for casting, enabling the spreading of regular Blood Frenzy among nearby Monster Soldiers and constantly drawing strength from the blood of its victims.
These cloaks, composed of blood droplets, looked as though they were wildly dancing, but when the ranged attacks aimed at the Blood Plunderers hit, they instantly solidified like an iron wall, forming a bastion against the attacks.
Not even the arrows from the armed migrants, nor the power of Cart Heavy Crossbow Vehicles’ Crossbow Arrows could significantly harm them; this wasn’t because these Blood Iron Walls could withstand being pierced by Cart Heavy Crossbow Vehicle’s Crossbow Arrows, but because they slowed them down a notch—even though just by a few tenths of a second, but for a seasoned soldier with extensive combat experience, that was enough to effectively evade.
The Fireball Technique faced a similar situation; the Blood Iron Walls could block a substantial part of the flame’s impact, allowing those under attack to simply hunker down behind. Even if the Blood Iron Walls were penetrated, the Fireball Technique’s attack power was greatly reduced. After all, those currently casting the Fireball Technique in the Conqueror Army were Low-level Battlefield Spellcasters, producing the weakest version of Fireball Technique, only managing an impact force of 6D6 (6-36).
The flaming damage of these Fireball Techniques, slightly more potent than that of the Cart Heavy Crossbow Vehicle, played a certain role in baking and steaming the blood of the Blood Iron Walls; after taking the flaming impact, the concentration of the Blood Cloaks would be significantly reduced—an aspect that also weakened their strength.
Least affected was the Skeleton Cannon.
Its Skeleton Cannonballs had strong impact force against the Blood Iron Walls; if struck, it would shatter them on the spot, leaving them unable to reform into Blood Iron Walls for several seconds, which was enough time for the Skeleton Cannonballs to explode and cause secondary impact damage.
However, the limited number of Skeleton Cannons was its main disadvantage; especially since the Plunderer Army inadvertently adopted a skirmish tactic, greatly reducing its power. Managing to kill three or five Monster Soldiers in one blow was considered a great success; missing any was not uncommon.
The blood of those enemies killed by its blasts, in the blink of an eye, would be absorbed by the passing Blood Plunderers’ Blood Cloaks, becoming part of their strength.
As they surged forward to within just a dozen meters from the Conqueror Army’s side cart defensive line, the Monster Army advancing at this part had no more common soldiers left, only the Blood Plunderers and their led Blood Berserkers.
