Chapter 1033: Chapter 611: Duncan’s Greater Disjunction
"I’ll tie up that fat dragon first, you three, take care of that serpent and then come back to help me," Gaven was also adjusting tactics as he spoke.
The Lizard Queen’s ability to summon a Legendary Spirit Soul Naga had indeed taken Gaven by surprise, but it wasn’t fatal; such a legendary spellcaster was naturally a prime target to deal with first.
"As you wish," the Six-armed Serpent Demon said, her face alight with excitement. Her Serpent Hilt Curved Sword had been starving for action, and such unique foes were the best kind of challenge.
From left and right, the Six-armed Serpent Demon and Razorback Claw charged at the Spirit Soul Naga, the former in physical form and the latter in Nightshadow Form.
Razorback Claw’s main combat strength lay in its unique shape; once it shifted into physical form, its power diminished considerably. Hence, it did not take up Estelle’s undead Earthbound Wraith’s slot.
This indirectly proved that Gaven didn’t quite see its potential for growth, treating it only as a high-end enforcer for now, a mere support following in the wake of the Six-armed Serpent Demon. Where she was, it had no chance to be the main force.
"Get on," the Lizard Queen said, lowering her head to signal the Spirit Soul Naga to climb onto her. This was a privilege the Spirit Soul Naga didn’t usually enjoy.
This indicated that the Lizard Queen sensed an imminent crisis, feeling unable to cope with it on her own.
"My apologies, Your Majesty," the Spirit Soul Naga politely said, though his actions were anything but slow. With a bow of his body, he leapt up with a whoosh.
"Do you understand our current situation? Do you have a way to escape from here?" The Lizard Queen needed more than the Spirit Soul Naga’s casting ability; she needed his knowledge of spells as well.
"This appears to be a secluded space formed through magic. The simplest way to break this space is to kill its caster. Once he’s dead, this space will unravel," the Spirit Soul Naga said, though it did not fully understand the nature of the space. Still, many things tended to work in a similar manner.
The lumps of fat on the Lizard Queen’s face involuntarily trembled a few times, and she said in an annoyed voice, "Even I would know that method without you saying it. What about other methods? Using magic? Do you have a way?"
"I actually have a Ninth Ring Spell that can break regional magic effects, but whether it can break this space, I’m not sure," said the Spirit Soul Naga, with a sly expression flickering across his human face.
Because of her position, the Lizard Queen couldn’t see this.
"Then what are we waiting for?" exclaimed the Lizard Queen, her complexion brightening, "Get on with it."
"Please, Your Majesty, buy me a little time," the Spirit Soul Naga replied, his gaze inevitably drifting to the Lizard Queen’s forehead. This was the closest he had been to his Soul Stone in the last century. Thanks to the close connection between them, he sensed precisely where it was.
Magic power frenziedly converged around the Spirit Soul Naga. His unique body shape meant he was naturally inclined towards type-specific spells, since he could not form Dharma Seals or use casting materials.
"Great Disenchantment, a powerful Ninth Ring Spell with the ability to sever magic effects, capable of disrupting special abilities, magic, and even Magic Items, including Divine Artifacts," Daphne called out loudly from the side.
Great Disenchantment, also known as Duncan’s Disjunction or Duncan’s Greater Disjunction.
Like the Bigby Series Magic, Duncan was a prefix to a series of spells developed by Legendary Mage Duncan, rumored to be still active on a Material Plane called Greyhawk. He is one of its most formidable beings, maintaining close ties with Irminster, a Legendary Mage from Felen, the two often sharing afternoon tea to discuss the mysteries of spellcasting.
It was a spell that struck terror into the hearts of many.
The Disenchantment not only severed magic but also the magic effects on Magic Items, which could be a temporary or permanent severance. If the latter occurred, precious items worth tens or even hundreds of thousands would become mere trinkets, unwanted even for a few Gold Coins.
The Dragon-Slaying Squad, at one time equipped with top-tier Magic Equipment, found themselves almost bare-handed after the spell was cast upon them, and defeating them became a matter of minutes.
Even if this spell was in one’s own hands, it was a heavy burden.
Because the equipment on the adversary was often the most core and valuable part of their treasure.
Using this spell meant that, even after vanquishing the foe, the spoils would be greatly reduced or even lead to a loss, considering the various consumptions in battle.
But if you didn’t use this spell, you might not be able to overcome the enemy at all.
Now, how vexing is that?
"Seeking death!" Gaven couldn’t just let the enemy cast spells.
He did not know if the spell could break the Shadow Duel Arena, but it was definitely the bane of the Five-Willow Overstate Full Form.
If they lost their fusion state, the chance of defeating the Lizard Queen would be next to impossible.
The abilities of the Lizard Queen were precisely the bane of the Six-armed Serpent Demon, the potent Damage Reduction coupled with powerful Regeneration meant she could withstand the Serpent Demon’s Berserk Attacks for over a dozen rounds without breaking a sweat. Yet her own casual strike would hit the Six-armed Serpent Demon hard.
