Chapter 298: Chapter 290: Research on Double Skin Milk
Han Qiwu wasn’t idle either. He picked up the catalog and activated the purchase interface, finding a new section for farm facilities. Curious, he clicked on it.
After opening it, the farm facilities section had two items.
[Milking Basin]
[Price: 3000 gold]
[Usage: Use on cows to automatically collect milk]
[Purchase Requirement: Must own an adult cow]
[Note: Remember to feed the cows after milking]
[Duck Feather Collector]
[Price: 4000 gold]
[Usage: Place in the duck shed to automatically collect feathers]
[Purchase Requirement: Must own an adult laying duck]
[Note: Winter down jackets are waiting for you]
"There’s even a duck feather collection tool?" Han Qiwu was a bit surprised. After staring at it for a moment, he decided to buy the milking basin first.
The duck feather collector wasn’t urgent—winter was still far off, and there currently weren’t any mature laying ducks at home.
A while later, Yang Yangyang came over carrying something resembling a child’s bathtub. After handing it to Han Qiwu, he taught him how to use it.
After paying, Han Qiwu quickly left with the milking basin.
Time to collect some milk!
With milk, a whole variety of dairy products could be arranged!
Once home, he didn’t bother with the loaches and dashed straight to the cow barn.
At the barn, he took out the milking basin, walked up next to Little Shui, and carefully placed it under her.
Before long, half a basin of buffalo milk was automatically collected.
Han Qiwu pulled the basin back, his spirits high as he checked its properties.
[Buffalo Milk]
[Stamina +200]
[HP +100]
[Usage: Can be consumed directly or after boiling]
[Note: Buffalo milk is highly nutritious]
Indeed, as the note said, the stamina and HP recovery values of the buffalo milk were excellent.
After milking, Han Qiwu didn’t rush to drink. Instead, he grabbed a bag of nutritious purple alfalfa feed and leisurely started feeding it to Little Shui.
While feeding, he gently patted Little Shui’s head.
"You’ve worked hard."
After feeding, Han Qiwu planned to milk the black-and-white cow next, so it wouldn’t be so impatient.
After setting the milking basin down, Han Qiwu quietly waited for a few minutes before retrieving it.
As soon as he picked it up, he noticed a sparkling electric light on the surface of the milk in the basin, accompanied by an enticing aroma of well-done milk.
[Thunder Milk]
[Stamina +220]
[HP +120]
[Note: Its taste is uniquely distinctive]
While feeding the black-and-white cow, Han Qiwu glared at the innocent-looking Kui Niu beside him.
"This is all your fault!"
Kui Niu: "?????"
"But didn’t you tell me earlier to get closer to them?"
"Now you’re saying this nonsense!"
After feeding the black-and-white cow, Han Qiwu deliberately went over and fed the Red Cow as well.
Perhaps because of its origin, the Red Cow was growing a bit slower and wasn’t showing any signs of producing milk yet.
No rush; take it one step at a time.
Tomorrow, he’d observe the milk output of the two little dairy cows and see how often they produced.
Back in his house, Han Qiwu poured both types of milk into bowls.
After filling two or three bowls in a row, one batch of milk still wasn’t finished.
He ended up bringing out two large basins, finally managing to pour out all of the milk.
"That’s quite a generous amount," Han Qiwu exclaimed, surprised. If he were counting by bowls, it could serve at least five.
Han Qiwu picked up a bowl of buffalo milk and took a careful sip.
Fresh buffalo milk tasted very different from box milk—it was slightly creamy but not sticky like yogurt. To describe it in detail, its texture felt like a soft milk candy.
It carried no apparent scent but revealed a faint sweetness as soon as you drank it—the more you drank, the more you wanted.
"This buffalo milk tastes amazing. I wonder if something got treated while passing through the milking basin." Han Qiwu speculated. He’d had fresh cow’s milk once before, but the flavor was so off-putting that the average person couldn’t get it down. It was nothing compared to this buffalo milk.
After finishing a bowl of buffalo milk, Han Qiwu grabbed the Thunder Milk nearby, poured out a bowl, and sipped it slowly.
Maybe because of the electrical treatment, Thunder Milk was a bit lighter in texture and closer to the consistency of box milk. Its aroma was rich and enticing, and the taste was creamy with a subtle electric tingle.
Both types of milk had their unique charm.
So satisfying.
Han Qiwu stored the remaining milk in bottles, planning to take them fishing later.
Refreshing and filling.
Milk truly was a blessing.
Walking outside, he headed to Hongyan Tower.
Earlier, while milking the cows, he’d noticed a silhouette of a duck egg near Hongyan Tower—it was the perfect time to collect it now.
Entering the area, Han Qiwu checked its interior.
Both the Gaoyou Ducks and Pekin Ducks were growing quickly. In just a few days, they’d gotten noticeably larger, their feathers hardening and darkening. They were joyfully splashing around in the water.
The Call Ducks, meanwhile...
Still the same.
Plump and snowy white.
Adorable to the core.
After feeding them all with prepared feed, Han Qiwu walked over to the female fire ducks’ nest and picked up a duck egg.
What good fortune!
Another double-yolk fire duck egg!
"Might as well treat everyone to one each." Han Qiwu chuckled, heading back to the courtyard to grab supplies from the storage compartment.
After gathering his things, he suddenly recalled he hadn’t watched TV. He hurried back inside to switch it on.
[Weather Forecast]
Tomorrow will be sunny
[Life Tips]
Try making more friends.
[Almanac]
Good for fishing, Avoid digging wells
[Shennong’s Recipes]
"How does milk taste? Why not give this a try?"
[You’ve learned the method for Double-Skin Milk]
[Double-Skin Milk]
[Ingredients: Egg ×1, Buffalo Milk ×1, Sugar ×1]
[Note: The top layer is delectably fragrant, while the bottom layer is smooth and creamy]
"Double-skin milk?" Han Qiwu was thrilled. He’d been considering making sweet treats with milk, and now he’d unlocked a recipe directly.
Eggs were already at home, and he had buffalo milk too.
But the sugar...
That was tricky.
He’d needed sugar for the miner’s lollipop before but hadn’t found any, delaying it till now.
"If I want sugar, it’ll either come from sugar beets or sugarcane. Beet season is in May, but sugarcane should still be available now. Fresh ones are needed though—after all, March sugarcane is said to rival poison snakes. Guess I’ll ask Aunt Hong Mei or Aunt Guo later to see if they have any leads." Han Qiwu thought aloud.
After watching TV, he cycled off toward the blacksmith’s shop.
On his way through town, he happened to see Aunt Hong Mei, whom he hadn’t seen in days, and called out cheerfully, "Aunt Hong Mei, where have you been recently?"
"I just got back from picking mushrooms in the mountains. You get more on rainy days. Want some?" Aunt Hong Mei replied with a smile, warmly offering her basket.
"No need," Han Qiwu waved dismissively, pulling a bottle of buffalo milk from his storage compartment and placing it in her basket.
"What’s this? Tofu pudding?" Aunt Hong Mei asked curiously.
Han Qiwu chuckled, "Buffalo milk. A friend sent it, said it’s a new variety. Please give it a try."
"Well, thank you, then! Auntie will enjoy this treat," Aunt Hong Mei replied with a laugh.
"By the way, Auntie, are there still fresh sugarcanes around here?" Han Qiwu asked curiously.
Aunt Hong Mei glanced at the sky thoughtfully, "Let me think."
After some consideration, she clapped her thigh, "Ah, my memory! My cousin’s family cultivates sugarcane. They’re likely still growing in greenhouses—should still be fresh."
"That’s great! Could you take me there?" Han Qiwu asked excitedly.
"No problem."
