Chapter 695: Chapter 696 Extra: Don’t Cry for Benefits_1 Chapter 695: Chapter 696 Extra: Don’t Cry for Benefits_1 Wu Haoli seemed to have anticipated her move and swiftly caught hold of her wrist, “Is this how you treat your benefactor usually?”

Ziyu’s right hand struck out again, angrily saying, “Benefactor my ass! I’ve never suffered such humiliation from childhood to adulthood! Taking advantage of me and then acting all innocent, I must beat you so badly today that you’ll be searching for your teeth on the ground!”

Having said that, she tangled with Wu Haoli in combat.

The final outcome was still cruel, Ziyu was captured once again, and oh, how she hated it. If only she had known this day would come, she would have listened to her parents and diligently practiced her martial arts without slacking off!

“Do you have anything to say now?” Wu Haoli said indifferently.

Ziyu glared at him and then suddenly burst into tears with a “waah,” “You’re all bad people! I finally get to go out and I always meet bad people. I’m already so down and out, and you still bully me. Mom and Dad! I miss you so much, boo-hoo, I want my mom and dad! You’re all bullies, everyone’s bullying me, boo-hoo.”

Wu Haoli, seeing her suddenly erupt in tears, was taken aback and didn’t know what to do. He had thought she was faking it again, but seeing her look so miserable, it didn’t seem feigned. Wu Haoli loosened his grip, and Ziyu simply sat down on the ground, crying even harder like a child.

“Hey! What are you crying for? I didn’t do anything to you,” Wu Haoli said with a headache.

Ziyu sobbed, “I, I, I just ran away from home. I knew some martial arts and wanted to roam the martial world and perform chivalrous deeds, but, but I’ve been deceived all along the way! All the silver I had was swindled away from me, and just when I thought I found an easy target to squeeze, I ended up getting taken advantage of! Boo-hoo-hoo!”

Wu Haoli was exasperated; with this girl’s brains, it wasn’t surprising at all that she was swindled. And she even mentioned performing chivalrous deeds?

“Alright, alright, I won’t bully you anymore. Get up, crying and weeping like that. Which hero starts crying over something so trivial!” Wu Haoli said irritably.

Ziyu began to act stubborn, “Why can’t I cry? This has been the most miserable part of my life! And you still talk to me like that!”

Wu Haoli felt a bit of sympathy for her, figuring that she must have been holding back her grievances for the entire journey, and just now vented them all at once.

“Enough already, let’s just say I’m not being kind today, get up. If you keep crying, I won’t care about you anymore,” Wu Haoli said.

Ziyu wiped her tears, “If I stop crying, what benefit do I get?”

Wu Haoli was at a loss for words, “Are you asking me for a favor now?”

Ziyu looked like she was about to cry again, and Wu Haoli quickly said, “Fine, what favor do you want?”

Ziyu sniffled and mumbled, “I want to eat something good; it’s been so long since I’ve had a decent meal.” The thought of the cornbread she had been eating these days almost choked her.

Wu Haoli snickered, “That’s all you want? Get up, I’ll take you out for a good meal!”

Ziyu got up from the ground happily, grinning widely, “Really? Then I won’t be polite!”

Wu Haoli let out a “heh,” “You sure change your tune quickly.”

Ziyu wiped her face with her sleeve and said cheerfully, “Why would I cry if there’s good food? Let’s go! From today on, you’re my brother, Yan Ziyu!”

Wu Haoli disdainfully pushed her hand away, “I don’t need a brother as pathetic as you.”

Wu Haoli took Ziyu to Dongxing Building and threw her to a page boy, “Buy her some clothes, let her wash up before we talk; I can’t even eat my meal looking at that get-up she’s wearing.”

Ziyu glared at him, “What a fuss over nothing!” Even though she said this, she didn’t refuse, as her own clothes were indeed too dirty, even for her own liking. Besides, she had latched onto a wealthy brother today, so getting a new outfit was good, especially since it wasn’t coming out of her own pocket!

Wu Haoli lounged around in the private room, waiting, the table laden with Dongxing Building’s most famous signature dishes. The moment Ziyu pushed the door open and entered, Wu Haoli just happened to look up. Hey, you really couldn’t fault the girl’s self-praise earlier. If you were to say she was pretty, she indeed was something to behold.

However, that beauty was fleeting. The moment Yan Ziyu saw the table filled with such an array of delicacies, she practically drooled, dashing to the table and exclaimed with greedy delight, “Goodness, look at all this delicious food, brother, you really are too generous!”

No sooner had she spoken than she grabbed a chicken leg and started gnawing on it, frantically piling her bowl with food.

Wu Haoli looked at her disdainfully, completely shattering the previous thought he had that she looked fine.

“Have you gone several lifetimes without meat?”

Ziyu spoke between mouthfuls, “Three months! It’s been three months since I ran away from home, and I truly haven’t touched any meat or fish since! Oh, but I have to say, this stuff is really not bad!”

With that, she crammed another chopstick full into her mouth.

Hearing her mention running away from home, Wu Haoli asked, “Why did you run away from home?”

He had observed her earlier; her fingers were delicate, clearly showing she was accustomed to a life of luxury, surely not from a poor family.

Ziyu sighed, putting down the chicken leg, and took the effort to swallow the mouthful of meat before saying sadly, “My parents were forcing me to marry, said if I waited any longer I’d become an old maid. Of course, I wouldn’t agree. My dream is to become a chivalrous hero, how could I settle for being some good wife and loving mother? So, with my integrity, I resolutely ran away from home!”

“The way you put it, you ran away from home with such integrity? And now who is this person without any integrity?”

Ziyu’s face reddened, “Where am I lacking integrity? I’d rather starve than go home, does that not show integrity?!”

“You mean you’d rather be a thief than go home,” Wu Haoli said bluntly, sparing no effort to belittle her.

Ziyu was displeased, “What do you mean ‘be a thief’? I’m redistributing wealth from the rich to the poor! The silver I steal will mostly go to buying food for the beggars!”

“Redistributing wealth? So you set your sights on me then?”

“Yes, you look just like a profligate young master who idles away his time in lust and gambling. You’d probably squander this money on cheap wine at most, and you even chased after me for ages, I’ve never seen anyone so stingy!” Ziyu said annoyedly.

Wu Haoli was caught between laughter and tears. It was bad enough she called him profligate and accused him of wasting silver, now she was also calling him stingy!

“You’re justifying stealing now, is that it?”

Ziyu shrank her neck, “I had no choice, I was tricked out of all my money, and I’ve been starving for two days. If I didn’t get my hands on some silver, I really would have starved to death!”

Wu Haoli poured himself a cup of tea, “Enough already, eat up and go home. There’s no sense in causing such a ruckus outside; your parents must be worried about you.”

“No way!” Ziyu immediately started hopping mad.
