Chapter 614 - 614 614 Manufacturing Accidents_1
Chapter 614: Chapter 614 Manufacturing Accidents_1 Chapter 614: Chapter 614 Manufacturing Accidents_1 Mr. Zhao gave Zhao Danggui a cold look, “You didn’t mean well with today’s incident either. Your father finally got married, and you’ve made a complete mess of it today! You really can’t bear to see me do well, can you?”
Zhao Danggui didn’t dare say a word at this moment, for Zhao Song was still fuming. If she dared to speak carelessly now, Zhao Song would surely drive her away as well. She could only lower her head in a gesture of repentance.
Mr. Zhao glared fiercely at the couple, “Enough, just go back today; I can’t keep you here any longer. Today’s farce has been embarrassing enough. How am I supposed to maintain my reputation in Qinghua City after this? Hurry off. I shouldn’t have allowed you to come in the first place, you’ve only caused me trouble for nothing!”
Thinking about it, Mr. Zhao couldn’t help feeling irritated. How could his own marriage have caused so much trouble?!
Zhao Danggui felt somewhat resentful, but she didn’t dare to say anything more and just nodded her head in agreement. After all, she could come back some other time, couldn’t she? She had actually hoped to ask for some money this time, but given the circumstances, she knew she would be a fool to mention money now. She did have that much sense, at least, so she had no choice but to leave in disgrace.
Mr. Zhao felt so ashamed at this point that he didn’t know what to say to Muniang and Mrs. Lin.
“Ruojuan, I know today has been hard on you, but I… sigh.”
Muniang stood up, her voice calm, “Mr. Zhao, it’s already good that you understand my mother’s plight. I hope that by marrying you, she hoped for a home where she could live a peaceful and happy life. You should understand that, Mr. Zhao.”
“Of course, I understand. Muniang has always held her mother in such high regard; she is so filial. Compared to his own daughter… there’s just no comparison,” he thought to himself.
“My mother has a gentle nature and cannot stand up to people like my elder sister and brother-in-law. If it hadn’t been for me here today, the outcome would have been unimaginable. Mr. Zhao, you had better not forget the promises you made to me. My mother has suffered enough for half her life, please let her live the rest comfortably,” Muniang said.
Mr. Zhao was filled with guilt, “Muniang, I understand your concerns, and it’s not just your mother I’m concerned about. Today’s incident was my oversight. It definitely won’t happen again in the future. If Danggui and her husband dare to cause any more trouble, I will certainly protect your mother.”
Muniang had wanted just this assurance. Mr. Zhao was a reasonable man. Initially, Muniang had favored him because she believed he could make Mrs. Lin happy. Despite her anger at Zhao Danggui and Wang Fuqiang today, she harbored no resentment towards Mr. Zhao, knowing he would be fair in this matter.
Muniang was confident in her own judgment.
With the drama over, Mr. Zhao had no mood to attend to the guests at the banquet any longer. He asked Zhao Jiangshui and Zhao Jianghe to take over hosting duties while he decisively broke the rules and stayed in the bridal chamber with Mrs. Lin. After all the distressing events of the day, she was probably the one who felt the worst.
Since Mr. Zhao was with Mrs. Lin, it was natural for Muniang not to linger. She simply went to the main hall, and then suddenly remembered that Tianniu had been clamoring to come along earlier. Why hadn’t she shown up at all?
Looking around, Muniang spotted Tianniu tugging on Zhao Jiangshui’s sleeve and talking. Muniang widened her eyes; although Tianniu usually didn’t care about the gender of the people she was with, this was the first time Muniang had seen her acting so demurely.
Seeing how familiar the two of them seemed, it appeared they’d known each other for quite some time!
Muniang’s eyes narrowed slightly. This girl had kept her feelings well hidden; it seemed that the man she had said she liked might very well be Zhao Jiangshui. But how on earth had Tianniu gotten involved with Zhao Jiangshui?!
“Tianniu, let’s go home,” said Muniang as she approached.
“Ah? So soon?” Tianniu looked disappointed.
“It’s late enough; it’s getting dark, and Mr. Zhao has no time to entertain guests right now. We are strangers here, and it’s quite boring,” Muniang deliberately remarked.
With a reluctant glance at Zhao Jiangshui, Tianniu finally said, “Okay.”
Zhao Jiangshui’s scalp tingled under Muniang’s gaze, feeling as though she held some deeper meaning, yet he still bowed respectfully and said, “Then I shall accompany Second Sister on her way.”
Muniang raised an eyebrow, “Alright.”
Muniang got into the carriage with Tianniu, then began to inquire in detail, “The person you mentioned before, the one you have feelings for, is it Zhao Jiangshui?”
Tianniu’s face turned red, “How did you know?”
“Your feelings are written all over your face. Anyone can see it. You could at least try to conceal it a bit,” Muniang glanced at her.
Tianniu grumbled, “It’s because Sister Mu is so perceptive that you noticed at just one glance. Others definitely can’t see it.”
Immediately, she grabbed Muniang’s arm and said, “Do you think he’s good? I think he’s wonderful.”
Muniang pondered for a moment before saying, “Good, and not good.”
Tianniu, puzzled, asked, “What do you mean by that?”
“He became a scholar at sixteen and even the master predicted he has the talent of the Number One Scholar. The path he will walk is extraordinary; how could he be confined to the small Qinghua City?”
“Then I’ll just follow him!” Tianniu declared.
“There are so many temptations in the outside world, I’m just worried.”
But Tianniu puffed out her chest and said, “No matter how many temptations there are outside, they certainly can’t compare to me!”
Muniang’s eyes sparkled, “Why do you say that?”
Tianniu smiled, “I naturally have my confidence.”
Muniang laughed, “That’s good. Actually, it’s just me always being over-concerned. That’s why I said those things. The one you like is the best choice. His character is quite decent and he is a promising person. Moreover, he’s now my brother. If he dares to treat you badly in the future, I’ll discipline him for you.”
Tianniu muttered, “It’s a pity that he doesn’t seem to have any feelings for me. Talking about the future seems a bit premature.”
Muniang chuckled to herself. If she could see Tianniu’s feelings for Zhao Jiangshui at a glance, how could she have missed Zhao Jiangshui’s feelings? The poor girl, earnestly pursuing him, was still oblivious to his feelings.
However, Muniang wasn’t in a hurry to spell it out for her. In matters like these, one couldn’t always expect the girl to take initiative. Zhao Jiangshui had his own thoughts, and sooner or later he would have to come clean to Tianniu. Muniang saw no need to meddle unnecessarily.
Mrs. Lin had been married off, and Muniang had specifically arranged for Hong Luo to follow her. With that girl’s wits and skills, Muniang was reassured. As for the room she had lived in before, Muniang had instructed someone to clean it daily. Though she might never return to live there, it remained a part of her cherished memories.
A messenger arrived that day with a letter from Yu Jin, stating that he was preparing to return to Qilian Kingdom; however, before doing so, he would visit Qinghua City to say farewell to his brother. Naturally, the letter made no mention of Muniang.
Muniang didn’t mind that at all. Her mind was preoccupied with Yu Ze’s earlier plans. He had mentioned creating an ‘accident’ for Yu Jin, one that would ensure Yu Jin would not be able to return this time.
