Chapter 612: Chapter 613: Catching the Thief_1 Chapter 612: Chapter 613: Catching the Thief_1 Wang Fuqiang felt his skin crawl. What was she so excited about?
Upon seeing Wang Fuqiang cowering, Zhao Danggui pinched him hard: “You deadbeat, do you want to die? What are you standing there dumbfounded for? Don’t you act all high and mighty in front of me normally?”
Grinding his teeth, Wang Fuqiang finally gathered some courage: “So what if I sought you out? Let me tell you, don’t think I am really afraid just because of a few words…”
Before Wang Fuqiang could finish, Muniang had already taken three steps toward him, moved quickly, and with a shoulder throw, sent him crashing to the ground. His large body slammed down with a thud, and Wang Fuqiang nearly broke his back, letting out a shriek like a pig’s: “You wretched woman, how dare you throw me!”
Muniang sneered: “Not only will I throw you, I will also kick you senseless!”
With that said, she kicked Wang Fuqiang in the stomach. The pain caused him to break out in a cold sweat. He had planned to get up and settle the score with Muniang, but now he was lying flat on the ground in such agony that he couldn’t even think about standing up.
Zhao Danggui could hardly believe that this woman could be so fierce, taking down her robust husband in just a few moves. What she found even more unbelievable was that Qiao Muniang’s approach to handling matters was so direct—she started fighting right away!
Zhao Danggui immediately went to grab Muniang: “You lunatic, how dare you strike, I’m going to tell dad, I want to…”
Muniang kicked her away with one foot and then landed several more vicious kicks on Wang Fuqiang before dusting off her hands and smiling smugly: “No need to tell dad, he’ll know soon enough.”
Zhao Danggui, who was about to burst into curses, was suddenly at a loss for words. What did she mean by that? Why did this woman’s smile always feel so chilling?
Mrs. Lin was still worried and said in a hurry: “Muniang, you’ve beaten them both up; after all, they are Mr. Zhao’s daughter and son-in-law, it’s not very good.”
Muniang patted Mrs. Lin’s hand to reassure her and then signaled to Hong Luo with a wave: “Go out and shout, say that thieves have broken into the bridal chamber and are attempting to harm me and my mother.”
Hong Luo glanced at Wang Fuqiang on the ground, immediately understood, nodded her head, and replied, “This servant understands!” With that, she turned and left.
Wang Fuqiang panicked: “You, you, what are you going to do?”
Muniang chuckled softly: “Catch a thief.”
As soon as Hong Luo went out, she immediately started shouting in alarm: “Help! Thief! Someone’s broken into the bridal chamber!”
This shout disturbed everyone; even the guests at the front were startled by the noise and hastened to say: “Mr. Zhao, you’d better go check it out, there might really be a thief!”
Mr. Zhao’s heart skipped a beat. What’s with all the complications today? Still, he was worried about Mrs. Lin and quickly put down his wine glass to rush to the bridal chamber.
Zhao Jiangshui was helping Mr. Zhao entertain the guests when he heard the commotion. Naturally, he couldn’t just stand by and rushed to see what was happening but was stopped by Tianniu: “Where are you going?”
“It seems your aunt is in trouble. I need to go check on her.”
Blowing her eyelids, Tianniu said: “Don’t worry. That was Hong Luo shouting just now. It must have been Mu’s doing on purpose. If my aunt was really in trouble, Mu wouldn’t let them off the hook. She wouldn’t need Hong Luo to call for help; it’s definitely nothing serious.”
Zhao Jiangshui looked at Tianniu dubiously, “How did your sister settle it?”
Tianniu said proudly, “You have no idea how capable my cousin is, she alone can take down your whole family.”
Zhao Jiangshui inhaled sharply, thinking about Muniang’s petite frame, it just seemed too exaggerated.
“I should still go take a look, I need to know what happened, don’t I?” Zhao Jiangshui said. Tianniu wanted to continue chatting, but had to say, “Then I’ll go with you, just to watch the show.”
Zhao Jiangshui, seeing Tianniu’s unfazed demeanor, started to believe her somewhat and his heart settled, even his pace slowed.
Mr. Zhao hurried to the bridal room and upon entering, he saw Wang Fuqiang sprawled out on the ground, wailing non-stop, and next to him was Zhao Danggui, all flustered and at a loss for what to do.
Looking up, he saw Muniang holding Mrs. Lin seated on the bed, with Mrs. Lin showing a panicked expression, yet Muniang appeared very calm. Mr. Zhao knew Muniang was always composed, so he didn’t find it strange.
“What happened!?”
Zhao Danggui immediately started crying and tugging at Mr. Zhao, “Dad! Look at those two, they’re practically after our lives, she’s trying to beat my husband to death, look how badly he’s injured?!”
Mr. Zhao glanced over and didn’t think Wang Fuqiang’s injuries were severe, as there was not a mark on his face. He was just lying there putting on a show; Muniang had stepped on him intentionally to make it hard to see any injuries.
Mr. Zhao frowned and said, “What exactly happened? Muniang wouldn’t hit someone for no reason. And he’s a grown man, could he really have gotten beaten up by a woman?”
At this comment, laughter erupted from the doorway; everyone had rushed over thinking the bride had been wronged, but seeing this scene and hearing Mr. Zhao’s words, they found it funny instead.
Wang Fuqiang’s face turned beet red, he wanted to complain that it had been Muniang who hit him, but it was too embarrassing to admit he was beaten by a woman. Yet, he also didn’t want to let Qiao Muniang off too lightly.
Wang Fuqiang was torn, but Zhao Danggui had no such reservations. She was determined to accuse Muniang in front of Mr. Zhao, and blurted out through tears, “She hit him! Don’t be fooled by her petite frame; she’s incredibly strong! She didn’t just hit my husband, she even kicked me!”
Mr. Zhao looked at Muniang in astonishment, “This…”
Muniang blinked innocently, “Sister, what are you saying? Are you blaming me now?”
She looked so harmlessly pure at a glance.
Zhao Danggui choked on her words, Muniang was suddenly calling her ‘sister’ so diligently!
Muniang continued, “Earlier, my mother and I were talking, and then sister came in, wanting to apologize, admitting that she was in the wrong before and hoping my mother would forgive her, then asked me to say a word to Mr. Zhao.”
Muniang emphasized the last sentence heavily, clearly hinting at the purpose behind Zhao Danggui’s plea for forgiveness. Mr. Zhao could not miss the implication—it was coercion!
“My mother was originally feeling wronged; for a woman, her reputation is the most important thing in life. She had her reputation ruined like that, and now a couple of apologies are supposed to suffice? My mother still felt angry and didn’t pay much attention, but then suddenly a man barged in, cursing us as foolish women and threatening to show us a lesson. I thought he was a rapist, so I just…”
