Chapter 585: Chapter 586: Married Several_1 Chapter 585: Chapter 586: Married Several_1 “How are the preparations going? Although it’s at the restaurant, it can’t compare to our Mei Garden, but you must still stay calm and perform well, hmm?” Before going on stage, Muniang still made sure to steady Chen Yuhua’s nerves, especially because she had been in such poor form the last few days, and Muniang was still a bit worried about her as the opening act was about to begin.

Chen Yuhua, however, laughed and said, “I’ve performed this play a hundred and eighty times already, what could I possibly not be familiar with? Lady, rest assured.”

“It’s not the play I’m worried about,” Muniang said with a stern look in her eyes.

Chen Yuhua understood what Muniang meant, and her face flushed red at once, “I’m perfectly fine.”

“That’s good then, keep a good attitude, and don’t worry about the men—none of that matters!”

Chen Yuhua shyly nodded, “I understand.”

Manager Li busied himself diligently in preparing the stage for Muniang, who found it amusing and remarked, “If a person isn’t honest at heart, their impeccable conduct on the surface indeed makes it impossible for you to make a move.”

Qingya also nodded repeatedly, “Lady, surely you can always find a reason to deal with him?”

“I could find a reason to deal with him if I really wanted to, but seeing how attentive he is, I don’t have the heart to do it. Let’s just leave him be, it’s better for a businessman to have some cunning than to be completely dull. At least he’s got a brain and, if controlled well, can be convenient to use.”

While they were speaking, Manager Li ran over with a smile, “Lady, why are you standing here? With all these people coming and going, you might get bumped into. These trifles, just leave them to me to handle.”

Muniang laughed softly but didn’t say much more, leaving him to it. She was about to head upstairs when she suddenly saw Nangong Anan come in and paused in surprise.

“Muniang! I heard you’re putting on a theatrical troupe here, so I came especially to see you!” Nangong Anan exclaimed joyfully as soon as she walked in.

Muniang’s gaze quickly fell on Yu Jin, who followed behind her. Although Zhuang Yile had been treating him, his leg injury was not something that could heal in a day or two; he still needed a wheelchair to get out.

Yu Ze pushed him through the door, where a flat wooden plank had been laid by a servant to help him smoothly cross the threshold.

When Muniang saw him, he seemed to be sizing her up as well, his calm gaze devoid of emotion, which unnervingly felt rather ominous to her.

“Jin hasn’t been out for fresh air in a long time, and I remembered you have a play premiering today, so I brought him over to watch,” Yu Ze said.

Muniang started to smile, “Then please take your seats quickly, the play is about to start. But since Yu Jin’s mobility is limited, you should stay on the first floor. I will make sure the best seats are reserved for you.”

“Wow, Muniang, your theatrical troupe is really impressive! I’ve heard that Dongxing Building is the largest restaurant in the Daqian Dynasty, and to think that you could secure such a place to set up a stage, you’re quite capable!” Zhuang Yile had also followed and was full of admiration upon arriving.

Nangong Anan glared at him, “Ignorant, Muniang is the Second Boss of Dongxing Building, what’s so strange about setting up a stage on her own turf!”

Muniang glanced at Nangong Anan and realized she must have deliberately found out all about her background, otherwise, she would not have known such details, but Muniang said nothing more.

Zhuang Yile’s eyes widened, “This place is yours too?!”

Muniang ignored him and directly instructed someone to arrange the seating.

Yu Jin watched Muniang’s retreating figure and spoke in a calm voice, “Brother, this kind of woman has great ambition, I’m afraid you won’t be able to keep her.”

Yu Ze smiled and hooked his lips, “A woman without ambition doesn’t catch my eye, and if she does, there’s no one I can’t keep.”

Yu Jin forced a bitter smile. He sincerely couldn’t warm up to Qiao Muniang; she had caused He Suxue to fall to such a state. In fact, even Yu Ze should have been the target of his hatred, but as his only brother who had reacted against He Suxue’s excessive pressures, he couldn’t blame him. But Qiao Muniang, an outsider, how could she do such a thing to He Suxue? How could he tolerate it?

However, Yu Ze seemed to see right through Yu Jin’s thoughts, his voice growing colder, “I know you blame me for what happened to He Suxue. She repeatedly harmed Muniang, and if it wasn’t out of sheer helplessness, I wouldn’t have neglected her. All her misfortunes now are self-inflicted. If you insist on holding a grudge against Muniang, I won’t stop you, but don’t do anything inappropriate. I won’t allow anyone to harm her.”

Yu Jin’s expression darkened, “Not even me?”

“The Purple Winter Grass she found for you, if you have any conscience, you shouldn’t harm her.”

Yu Jin’s eyes dimmed slightly, and he said no more.

Muniang knew Yu Jin disliked her, and she had no interest in being rebuffed, so she simply sat at a distant spot. However, Nangong Anan liked sticking to her, and while they were watching the performance, she whispered into Muniang’s ear, “I’ve heard of you before and I liked you even before meeting you, guess why?”

Muniang chuckled, “Because of your Brother?”

“That’s one reason, but not the most important one.”

“What’s the other?” Muniang was curious now.

Nangong Anan giggled twice, looked around, and then whispered, “When I found out you made He Suxue end up like that, I immediately took you for a friend!”

Muniang had a mental facepalm, “Well, thanks a lot for the high regard.”

“I’m serious. If He Suxue hadn’t been reduced to such a pathetic state by you, Jin certainly wouldn’t want me even more. I truly have you to thank!”

Muniang smiled and shook her head, saying nothing more.

“Let me tell you, Jin will definitely marry me in the future. Don’t mind his indifference to me; he won’t get close to other women. To him, I’m the exception,” bragged Nangong Anan confidently.

“Hmm, you’re indeed much better compared to me. Keep up the effort,” Muniang said, hoping to end the conversation soon or else this girl might go on endlessly.

But Nangong Anan continued, “However, when it comes to my Brother’s special treatment of you, naturally I can’t compare. You don’t know, but Brother never really cared for any woman before. Though he married a few, it was all for profit, except for you—you’re an exception. Hey, not that I’m suggesting anything, but had you not already been married, I’d truly advise you to consider my Brother earnestly!”

A mouthful of tea nearly sprayed out of Muniang’s mouth, “He’s married several times?!”

Nangong Anan blinked, seemingly realizing she had misspoken, “My Brother is already in his twenties, how could he be without women…”

Muniang’s mouth twitched, already having several wives and still pursuing her; this guy surely had boldness!
