Chapter 509 - 509 510 Want to Compete_1
Chapter 509: Chapter 510: Want to Compete_1 Chapter 509: Chapter 510: Want to Compete_1 “Who’s there?” Muniang demanded sharply.
The person chuckled twice, and another hand struck out at Muniang. Muniang’s back was drenched in cold sweat; she dodged by tilting her head and tried to trip her with a kick. Then, with the swiftness of lightning, she went straight for the woman’s neck. Muniang didn’t have the variety of moves from ancient martial arts. Facing someone with decent Inner Strength, she definitely couldn’t win in a straightforward fight. She had to be faster and more ruthless, delivering a lethal blow before her opponent had the chance to guard against it.
Clearly, the woman didn’t expect Muniang to play so unorthodoxly, going straight for a deadly strike on a vital point!
What she didn’t know was that Muniang had originally planned to jab her in the eyes, which would have certainly been more effective due to the pain, but it was too dark. Fearing she might miss, Muniang had opted for the neck instead.
The woman rolled away, breaking free from Muniang’s grasp but not without several scratches on her neck. Frustrated and eager to counterattack, she prepared to strike again.
Muniang cursed inwardly; she wasn’t as strong as this woman. Once she broke free, Muniang couldn’t hold her anymore. Now, as the woman returned to the fray with renewed ferocity, she was sure to be even more savage. There was no way Muniang could win this fight!
But then, the locked door burst open abruptly, and a strong palm wind slashed at the woman. She panicked and barely dodged, her hair flying and a lock of it sliced off by the palm wind.
Yu Ze’s palm wind illuminated the room as the lamp lit up once more, and the woman’s face across from him was finally clear.
With one hand, Yu Ze shielded Muniang, his eyes chillingly cold, “Nangong Anan, you’ve got quite the nerve!”
Muniang looked over in surprise. Was this woman the most favored little princess of Qilian Kingdom, Nangong Anan?
Nangong Anan wasn’t the least bit afraid, lifting her head proudly, “I didn’t expect you to be so skilled, to rush back so quickly. I thought you’d at least let me have a match with Qiao Muniang first.”
Yu Ze’s eyes grew colder. When he had gone to check earlier, he discovered that the convoy was a decoy. Not knowing where the real Nangong Anan and Yu Jin were, he immediately thought it was a ruse to lure the tiger away from the mountain and galloped back frantically, anxious for Muniang’s safety.
“You really are courting death. If you dare to harm her, I’ll let your entire Qilian Kingdom join in the funeral!”
Nangong Anan raised an eyebrow, “Why are you so narrow-minded? I just wanted to challenge her, to see for myself what kind of remarkable woman could outsmart even my brother. I never wanted to hurt her. If I’m willing to let her go, even my brother wouldn’t bear to hurt her. Look at my neck, how painful it is from her strangling. She nearly took my life,” Nangong Anan said, her words trailing off into a display of self-pity, her eyes shimmering with innocence as if accusing Muniang of being too aggressive.
Muniang couldn’t help but want to laugh at the princess’s performance, who had deliberately come all this way to deceive Yu Ze, just for a match with her. An unexpected attacker in the pitch dark had come at her, and if she didn’t fight back mercilessly, what could she have done?
The veins on Yu Ze’s forehead were pulsating, clearly focusing on a different point than Muniang. Nangong Anan spoke as if her brother would miss her—what did Nangong Qian count for? Why should his wife care about another man’s feelings?
A subtle movement of inner strength in Yu Ze’s sleeve suggested he was poised for a ruthless move, his voice carrying a sinister edge, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?”
Nangong Anan truly wasn’t afraid; Yu Ze killing her would be as easy as flipping his hand, and she had no chance against him. But she had an ace up her sleeve.
“My future husband is waiting for me at home. Before I came out, he instructed me to be careful, to not get hurt by any villain, as he would die of a broken heart for me. You don’t understand, our love is so profound. If I die, he surely won’t be able to live on,” Nangong Anan said with utmost sincerity.
If Muniang hadn’t known that Yu Jin’s heart only held He Suxue, she might have believed him just now.
Yu Ze ground his teeth, unable to miss the threat implicit in Nangong Anan’s words. Whatever talk there was of shared death, what she was really telling him was that if she didn’t return safely, Yu Jin wouldn’t survive either.
This time, on her diplomatic mission, Nangong Anan had specifically brought Yu Jin with her, essentially as an amulet.
“What a pity, why did you come back so early? We were having a great time,” she said.
Lines of frustration creased Muniang’s forehead. Who’s having a great time with you?
“Where’s Yu Jin?” Yu Ze asked.
“Don’t worry, I’ll bring him to see you. My fiancé said we needed to meet with his brother before taking me as his future wife. Qiao Muniang, I didn’t lose to you today. If your husband hadn’t returned, you wouldn’t necessarily have beaten me. In consideration of my brother, I’ll overlook the incident where you grabbed my neck. I do like you as a friend!” After saying that, she turned and ran towards the window, disappearing into the night.
Muniang was stunned. Who became friends with her? That girl really had nerve!
Yu Ze originally intended to chase after her but feared it might be a ploy to draw him away, and besides, Nangong Anan’s words didn’t sound like a lie. Since she said she would bring Yu Jin, he decided to wait, yet he couldn’t hide the excitement in his heart.
“Husband, I think that princess is probably just a bit mischievous. These are just childish actions. Besides, since she cares about Yu Jin, naturally she won’t harm him. You needn’t worry too much. Moreover, this diplomatic mission to another country wouldn’t normally fall upon such a distinguished princess. Her personal involvement likely stems from matters concerning Yu Jin,” Muniang analyzed.
Yu Ze knew that all too well. Over the years, his Hidden Guard had informed him that it was this princess who had been looking out for Yu Jin in the Qilian Kingdom, making his life much easier there. Yu Ze recognized some gratitude towards this princess for her kindness to Yu Jin; otherwise, when he entered earlier, he could have killed her with that palm strike.
All of a sudden, Muniang seemed to remember something and said, “I just heard that princess mention Nangong Qian…”
Yu Ze glanced at Muniang. “What about it?”
Muniang quickly replied, “I mean, he might also come, and it might be difficult to deal with him.” That jealous type is not to be provoked.
Yu Ze then said, “He doesn’t have the time to come. The struggle for the throne in the Qilian Kingdom has reached a critical point. The moment he leaves the Capital, surely someone will kill the old emperor right after and take the throne for themselves. Do you think he’s foolish?”
Relieved, Muniang replied, “That’s good. If it’s Nangong Anan, I’m less worried, but if it’s her brother…”
“If it’s her brother, I can handle him!” Yu Ze retorted, puffing up.
Nangong Qian of the Qilian Kingdom and Yu Ze of the Daqian Dynasty had always been compared; people loved to weigh one against the other. Yu Ze had never cared for such comparisons before, finding them incredibly tiresome. But now, in front of his little wife, how could he afford to lose?!
