Farm Tough Girl
Chapter 501 - 501 502 Going into Labor_1

Chapter 501: Chapter 502: Going into Labor_1 Chapter 501: Chapter 502: Going into Labor_1 Muniang was stunned, “Two?! Doctor, you didn’t see wrong, right?”

“I’m also basing this on my past experience, and I’m pretty sure I’m right. With twins, you’ll need to take extra care in the future, especially as time goes on, your belly is likely to grow even more. When it comes to working in the fields, it will be too heavy for you, but you must endure this difficulty.”

Muniang joyfully said, “I can endure it, I can endure it! How wonderful to have two children.”

Yu Ze also felt some excitement, as it was his first time becoming a father, but having two babies at once naturally thrilled him to no end. After seeing the doctor off, he hugged Muniang tightly and kissed her, then touched her stomach and said, “I was wondering why it was so big; it turns out there are two babies. You mustn’t overwork yourself, you and the babies.”

Muniang was beaming with happiness, “With two children, they will have each other for company in the future, though it means I will suffer more. I don’t know how tough it will be.”

At this, Yu Ze’s expression changed, “I’ve heard that giving birth to twins is riskier than just one. Could it be dangerous?”

He had long heard that giving birth was like a walk through hell’s gates, which was why he took such good care of Muniang, making sure she ate well every day for fear that she wouldn’t have the strength for childbirth if her health was poor, leading to complications.

Muniang, touching her belly, said, “Which mother doesn’t face some risk? I have great fortune and so will my babies; they will surely be born safely.”

Yu Ze agreed, but in his heart, he silently resolved to make sure Muniang ate even more to build up her strength. Otherwise, if anything indeed went wrong during childbirth, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

As the months wore on, Muniang was now in her ninth month, and her body became heavier. She spent her time lying down whenever possible. Although more comfortable, she was also bored. Fearing she might feel too dull, Yu Ze somehow found a book of jokes and read them to her to make her laugh.

Muniang couldn’t stop laughing, filling the entire room with her giggles, “This is so much fun, how silly these people are!”

Although Yu Ze didn’t see what was so funny, as long as his wife was happy, that was enough. He often read to her.

Mrs. Lin scolded Muniang when she saw how much she enjoyed these types of books, “Don’t corrupt the children. I’ve heard that you should read good books during pregnancy, like The Four Books and Five Classics, so that the children will be born intelligent. Otherwise, what’s the point in always reading this nonsense?”

For the first time, Yu Ze disagreed with Mrs. Lin, “It’s quite uncomfortable for Muniang to be stuck at home all day, and to then make her read something she finds boring, that’s even worse. If she likes to hear these stories, let her listen.”

Mrs. Lin scolded Yu Ze, “Being idle at home and still feeling uneasy? Our village women are working in the fields with bellies that big, and that is really tough. It’s just that you spoil her too much.”

Muniang grinned, “My husband has to spoil me, after all, I am the one who will bear him two children!”

Mrs. Lin laughed in annoyance, “Okay, okay, I won’t trust you to raise these grandchildren, such an unreliable mother. You can listen to this book to pass the time, but not too much.”

As soon as Mrs. Lin left, Muniang immediately urged Yu Ze to keep reading to her. Muniang liked to listen, so Yu Ze didn’t bother about the children’s education. What could they learn in the belly? They will have to make their own way in the world with real skills in the future!

The future babies cried out in shock, “Mom and Dad are so unreliable!”

Qinghe happened to visit Muniang that day and, upon entering, laughed, “I could hear your laughter before I even entered the house. It’s so loud, just like a young girl, even though you are about to become a mother.”

Muniang chuckled and looked up to see Xi’er following behind Qinghe. She quickly beckoned, “Xi’er, come here, let me see if you’ve grown taller.”

Xi’er bounded over happily, “I got taller, and prettier too, right?”

Qinghe was startled for a moment, worried that Xi’er might accidentally bump into Muniang’s belly, “Xi’er, behave yourself. Your godmother is pregnant with a baby, no fooling around.”

Xi’er stuck out her tongue and, acting like a spoiled child, pulled Muniang to her side. Knowing that when the young ladies were together, private conversations would ensue, Yu Ze didn’t linger. He placed the book on the bedside table and then left.

Qinghe picked up the book and examined it, clicking her tongue. “Muniang, you really are wilful. Even the baby in your belly is learning all this stuff.”

Muniang blinked, “That’s great. This way, the baby will definitely have a cheerful personality. It’s not good to be gloomy. They’ll hear lots of jokes, and it also cultivates one’s sentiments!”

Qinghe tapped her head, “Oh, please. Only your husband spoils you this much. You two are worlds apart. What will the child be like after they’re born?”

“There are two babies, one can be like him, and the other like me,” Muniang said with a hint of smugness.

“I’m so jealous of you becoming a mother. I bet there isn’t a woman in the entire Daqian Dynasty as fortunate as you. You’re pampered with good food and drink every day, and your husband personally takes care of you,” Qinghe remarked with admiration.

“It’s hard for me to even get out of bed and move around, all I can do is to lie in bed, bored and anxious.”

Qinghe gave her a sidelong look, “You really don’t know how blessed you are.”

That night, Yu Ze bathed Muniang, carried her to bed, and chuckled, “You seem to have gotten heavier again. It’s a good thing I’m strong; otherwise, how could I carry you?”

Muniang glared at him, “Where have I gotten heavier?”

“Not heavier, not heavier.”

Muniang said with a pout, “It’s all because you feed me so much every day. Look how fat I’ve gotten. Are you going to despise me and leave?”

“How could I? My wife is so beautiful. You look good even when you’re plump.” As Yu Ze spoke, his hands became restless and moved toward Muniang’s chest.

Muniang gave him a stern look, “I’m like this and you’re still interested?”

Yu Ze, spurred on by his actions and feeling the heat rising, could only end up kissing Muniang’s head for quite a while before he had to take care of his own needs by hand.

Afterward, Yu Ze expressed his melancholy, “Having twins is quite enough. Once they’re born, let’s not have any more kids. It’s too exhausting.”

Muniang looked at his dissatisfied expression and couldn’t help laughing, “I’ve really worn you out, haven’t I!”

Yu Ze, as if to punish her, pressed his lips against hers for a good while before saying, “Once the children are born, I won’t let you go.” These days with a pregnant wife were truly heart-wrenching; he was almost turning into a monk.

Muniang burst into giggles.

“It’s getting late. It’s not good to sleep too late. Let’s go to sleep now.”

Yu Ze got up to blow out the candle, then he cuddled up with Muniang to sleep.

The next morning, Muniang was about to get out of bed to wash up when suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her belly. Muniang turned pale, “Oh no, my husband, I, I, I think I’m going into labor!”

Yu Ze almost knocked over the washbasin in shock and hurriedly sent for the midwife. He helped Muniang to lie down on the bed, feeling anxious for the first time. Even a man as composed as he couldn’t help but panic now.
