Chapter 487: Chapter 488 Head Back Full of Thrills_1 Chapter 487: Chapter 488 Head Back Full of Thrills_1 “You’re here? I thought you weren’t coming today, I’ve been waiting for quite a while,” Madam Liu put down the work in her hands and smiled as soon she saw her.

Muniang remembered the bowl of chicken soup before she left, and her face wrinkled up, “If it weren’t for Erliang, he insisted on making me drink that greasy stuff, just the smell of it makes me nauseous!”

Madam Liu chided with a smile, “You really don’t know when you’re well off. When I was pregnant, I longed for something like that and couldn’t even get it. Your tastes have become so delicate these past few years. However, when you’re carrying a child, you can’t avoid these things. Otherwise, you won’t have enough nutrition. Your husband is doing this because he cares about you, so don’t take it to heart too much.”

Muniang said with a pained expression, “I’m not taking it to heart, but I’ll have to drink it again next time. It’s truly unbearable.”

Madam Liu laughed, “Giving birth isn’t so easy, what you’re experiencing is still considered mild. I’ve seen many pregnant women in the past, some of them with weak health, who had morning sickness all day long, couldn’t swallow a single grain of rice; now that’s truly distressing. Just endure it a bit longer. Once the baby is born, you’ll feel that all you’re going through now was worth it.”

Muniang thought about it and agreed, so she simply showed Madam Liu the newly embroidered flowers in her basket, “Look at this, isn’t it beautiful? I embroidered it yesterday.”

“You’ve made some progress. Today I’ll teach you some new stitches,” said Madam Liu.

“Mm!” Thinking of making clothes for her child by hand, Muniang felt reinvigorated.

When Muniang got home, she saw another unfamiliar carriage stopped at the door. Her first thought was that Jian Yue had come over, but she shook her head immediately after; traveling by carriage wouldn’t be so fast, and there was no point in scaring herself.

Stepping inside, she was about to ask the servants about it when she saw a familiar figure just coming out of the inner room.

“Wu Haoli?!” Muniang was very surprised.

Wu Haoli, fanning himself, tilted his head, “You still recognize me.”

Muniang started to laugh, “How come you’re back? I haven’t seen you for quite a few days now. Shopkeeper Zhang said you went on a long journey and even he didn’t know where you were.”

Wu Haoli’s lips curled up into a smile, “I took a trip to another country; these days, one has to work hard for money, right?”

Muniang snorted, “Sure, as if you need the money, who in the Daqian Dynasty is richer than you? Did you decide to take Dongxing Building to another country? That’s really something!”

“But I hear you’re doing quite well in business now. No one in Chatu Town can compete with you. Planning to move on to Qinghua City now?”

Muniang was not modest, “You’d better watch out, or a woman might just snatch the title of the richest person from you. But your special trip abroad to expand the scope of Dongxing Building this much, you must have made a good amount of money, I reckon.”

A bitter sweetness spilled from the corners of Wu Haoli’s lips. If possible, he would have rather stayed quietly in Chatu Town with her for a lifetime. He never cared for the empty title of wealthiest man.

When he first thought of traveling abroad, he was actually just trying to avoid her, and along the way, he arranged for the opening of several new Dongxing Buildings. But these days, he hadn’t been very happy, as if he missed Chatu Town. But other than her, what else in Chatu Town could he miss?

He had just returned today and couldn’t help but come to see her, only to find out that she was pregnant, and his heart was filled with indescribable emotions.

“I heard you’re pregnant,” Wu Haoli said with a smile that was somewhat strained.

Muniang laughed, “I just found out a few days ago. Let’s not stand outside talking. Come in. You’ve been traveling to other countries recently. Did you find any good stuff? I have quite a few things I want to ask you about!”

With that, she turned and walked into the house.

Only then did Wu Haoli follow her inside. When he had first arrived, it was Yu Ze who had entertained him, starting with showing off how loving he and his wife were, then clarifying that Muniang was pregnant, and finally emphasizing how devoted she was to him. Well, that was about it. Wu Haoli really wanted to tell Yu Ze’s subordinates in the army about his General’s neurotic side.

But as much as he joked internally, he was actually a bit hit by it, especially the news of Muniang’s pregnancy.

Yu Ze had just seen the visitor out when he turned around to see Muniang bringing someone back inside, nearly choking with irritation.

Wu Haoli had been quite affected by his earlier encounter, but he didn’t take it too much to heart. Still, seeing Yu Ze’s upset expression now brought him some comfort.

“Husband, Wu Haoli has just returned from a trip to Qilian Kingdom. He must have gained some understanding of their commerce. I wanted to ask him about it. Why don’t you listen too? After all, with the enemy country, knowing one another allows us to always emerge victorious. A nation’s economy is also its lifeline,” Muniang said.

Muniang was also worried that Yu Ze might be unhappy. After all, she was married now and naturally couldn’t be too close to another man. She demanded of herself what she asked of Yu Ze, but her curiosity got the better of her. She was too eager to have her questions answered, so she said what she did.

Yu Ze gave her a look, showing a semblance of obedience. He acquiesced.

Muniang was delighted inside. She hurriedly asked Qingya to serve tea and gestured for Wu Haoli to sit down. Yu Ze saw this little woman switch faces faster than flipping through a book. She immediately tossed him to the back of her mind as soon as she got his consent, which really upset his stomach—the little ingrate!

“How come you’re still running around while you’re pregnant? Can’t you stay still for a bit? You always were the only one who could manage such things,” Wu Haoli teased.

Muniang replied, “Where would I dare to be restless? I’ve let go of everything at the theater and the Embroidery House. I just went to the embroidery room to learn some crafts from a few aunts. After all, I’m going to be a mother. I should at least be able to make clothes for my own child.”

“Sounds like a reliable mom,” Wu Haoli laughed.

“If he knew how much suffering his mom had gone through because of him, he’d better be very filial to me in the future. I can barely survive a daily bowl of chicken soup, it’s so nauseating I can hardly stand it,” Muniang said, feeling suddenly displeased at the thought and not forgetting to glare at Yu Ze.

Yu Ze felt helpless. The grievances he had just suppressed flared up again. Yu Ze had to cajole her, “It’s for your own good, after all. Eating nutritious food is good for you. You’ll get used to the rich taste in time.”

Wu Haoli suddenly said, “Is it the greasy taste of chicken soup that you can’t stand? I brought back a special recipe from Qilian Kingdom. It can cut the greasiness of the soup without losing flavor and nutrition. I was going to introduce it as a new dish at the restaurant, but if you want, I can bring you the recipe next time.”

Muniang’s eyes lit up, “Is there such a good thing?”

“I came across it by chance, but it seems particularly timely now,” said Wu Haoli, raising his eyebrows at Yu Ze. Though Yu Ze and his wife were a done deal, if Yu Ze was going to annoy him today, he couldn’t let him be the only one feeling uncomfortable, could he? Time for a little payback!
