Chapter 449 - 449 450 Knocked Out_1

Chapter 449: Chapter 450 Knocked Out_1 Chapter 449: Chapter 450 Knocked Out_1 As the three-day deadline arrived, Wang Yufang got up early in the morning, feeling tense due to the deceitful act she was about to commit. Still, the thought of the large sum of money steeled her resolve. She had to keep her composure and fool the Chen family!

The Chen family had risen before dawn to make tofu and were now planning to carry their goods to town for sale. They were surprised to see Wang Yufang up already: “You’re up so early today?”

Wang Yufang smiled awkwardly: “I thought I’d get up early to make breakfast for Dashu and Yuhua. You two should go ahead with your work.”

The Chen Parents felt a surge of comfort, their daughter-in-law was finally showing some understanding.

Chen nodded: “Then get to it, but don’t overwork yourself.”

Wang Yufang felt a twinge of guilt but still responded: “Yes.”

After watching the Chen Parents leave, Wang Yufang breathed a sigh of relief. But as she turned around, she saw Chen Dashu standing behind her, which gave her a fright.

“What are you doing? You scared me to death!”

Chen Dashu chuckled: “Scared by me, your husband? Weren’t you quite happy yesterday?”

Wang Yufang knew exactly what he meant, the marital affairs from the night before. She rolled her eyes irritably: “Why are you up so early? And you came down from the bed, too. Be careful the parents don’t see you, or they’ll skin you alive!”

“Don’t worry, they won’t see me. Yufang, now that you have the silver, I don’t have to keep pretending to be sick, right? It’s so boring staying in the room all the time.”

Wang Yufang glared at him: “Nonsense, can your illness be cured in just a few days? What use would we have for the silver then? What will we do if your parents ask me for the silver? You’d better lie down for a few more days!”

Although Chen Dashu was dissatisfied, he decided to keep quiet considering his wife’s temperament.

Chen Dashu getting up so early was a problem for Wang Yufang, who had planned to take advantage of him sleeping in the morning to secretly knock out Chen Yuhua and send her away. Now that he was wide awake, she didn’t dare make a move.

Frustration welled up in Wang Yufang.

It must be said that Wang Yufang was also quite attractive, and with her exceptional skills in bed, she had Chen Dashu completely smitten, hardly able to eat or think of anything else. Moreover, Yufang had once run away from home for a while, and now that she was finally back, he clung to her constantly, unable to let go.

Wang Yufang was desperate inside. Lord Zhang was still waiting, and with Chen Dashu sticking around all day, she found it impossible to accomplish her task, let alone send Yuhua away.

The day was nearing dusk, and if she didn’t act soon, the Chen Parents would be returning home. Wang Yufang was getting incredibly anxious.

Suddenly, she heard someone gently knocking three times at the back door. Wang Yufang’s heart skipped a beat—this was the secret signal she had arranged with the Zhang Family’s envoy. Three knocks meant someone had arrived.

Without thinking twice, Wang Yufang said to Chen Dashu: “Go and heat up some water in the kitchen for me. I have clothes to wash. With the weather so cold, I don’t want to freeze my hands off.”

Chen Dashu hurriedly agreed and went off to the kitchen. Wang Yufang then opened the back door to find a servant scolding her: “What’s the matter with you? Are you playing games with our master? Our master has been waiting at home all day. Why haven’t you sent any message?”

Wang Yufang immediately put on a bitter face, “Young master, I really don’t mean to not send it over, it’s just that my husband is so clingy, I can’t get away from him.”

The servant gave her a look, “You’re so useless, just attract his attention later, and leave the rest to me!”

Wang Yufang hurriedly agreed and slightly covered the back door. Chen Dashu brought out the hot water he had boiled and said with a smile, “Wife, the water is ready!”

Wang Yufang walked over, pulled a handkerchief from her bosom, and wiped Chen Dashu’s face, “Husband, you’ve really worked hard. Look at you, all sweaty.”

When had Chen Dashu ever been treated like this by Wang Yufang? His heart softened on the spot and he quickly said, “It’s not hard at all, it’s all worth it for my wife. Once Yuhua gets better, our whole family will live happily ever after…”

He hadn’t finished speaking when his eyes rolled back and he collapsed heavily to the ground, knocked out by the servant with a club.

The servant glared at the dazed Wang Yufang, “What are you standing there stupidly for? Get moving! If you delay us, beware that our master won’t let you off the hook!”

Wang Yufang nodded quickly and went to the kitchen to pour out the medicinal soup that had been heated on the small stove. She also sprinkled some sleeping powder into it before carrying it in on a tray.

“Yuhua, it’s time to take your medicine,” said Wang Yufang.

Chen Yuhua responded with surprise, “Isn’t it not time yet?”

Wang Yufang awkwardly smiled, “I made it early, so just drink it early, save me the trouble later.”

Chen Yuhua didn’t question further and simply fed herself the medicine. Wang Yufang had a bad temper, and it was best to take the medicine whenever she gave it, lest she lose her temper and start an argument. To be honest, it was better at Mei Garden than at home.

Although Chen Yuhua was somewhat excited when she initially returned, looking forward to having the family reunited, the reality was harsh. The Chen Parents were busy with the tofu shop business, leaving early and returning late, and she could only face Wang Yufang all day. Moreover, Wang Yufang didn’t bother to look after her, always using the excuse that Chen Dashu was sick and needed care to brush her off. If Chen Yuhua said one extra word, Wang Yufang would curse her for being selfish, for not caring about her own brother’s illness and instead demanding attention for herself.

Wang Yufang eagerly watched as Chen Yuhua swallowed all of the medicine, then happily carried out the empty bowl, “Rest well, I’ll bring you some food later.”

About half an incense stick’s time later, when Wang Yufang peeked in again, sure enough, Chen Yuhua had fainted on the bed. Wang Yufang quickly signaled the servant from the Zhang Family to come over and carry the person out swiftly.

Outside, a carriage was waiting. Wang Yufang personally escorted Chen Yuhua onto the carriage, intending to deliver her to the Zhang Family for peace of mind.

Meanwhile, Muniang’s people, having learned of the commotion, had already gone to inform Muniang in advance.

The carriage passed through the busy market and was about to enter a more desolate street when the coachman was struck by a mysterious pebble, went numb all over, fell off the carriage, and fainted.

The people inside heard the commotion and immediately looked out alertly, “Who’s there?! Who dares to mess with Lord Zhang’s people? Looking for death?!”

Before the words ended, several more pebbles flew out, and a group of house guards collapsed in unison, their eyes closing without ever seeing who had attacked them.
