Chapter 421: Chapter 422: Be a Hero for Once_1 Chapter 421: Chapter 422: Be a Hero for Once_1 Muniang gave an awkward laugh, “No, no, I just told you about something you must remember, and you must go when the time comes. I won’t stay any longer!”

Having said this, she ran off.

Zhong Yulang’s face turned darker, obviously furious inside.

The original plan was for Zhong Yulang to go and explain things to Lu Qi’er and put an end to this farce, but before Zhong Yulang had the chance to do so, another problem arose.

It wasn’t long before the second performance of the midday show began, and everyone was busy preparing backstage when a young-looking person barged in and shouted, “Who’s playing Linghu Chong?!”

Muniang frowned, another person causing trouble? Just as she was about to have the bouncers throw him out, she saw the youth spot Zhong Yulang and rush over, swinging a punch at him.

Zhong Yulang dodged and a layer of frost covered his indifferent face, “Who are you?”

Undeterred, the youth threw another punch. Zhong Yulang’s limited martial arts moves were not learned in vain as he caught the young man’s hand, “Someone! Throw him out directly!”

The young man unwillingly cursed, “Are you bullying Qi’er like this too? I’m telling you, if you really treat her that way, I won’t let you off!”

Zhong Yulang’s eyebrows twisted into a knot, unable to make heads or tails of what the man was saying, but Muniang came to a realization—the young man was most likely referring to Lu Qi’er. With many people around and the potential for his ranting to damage Lu Qi’er’s reputation, she immediately grabbed the youth from Zhong Yulang.

“If you have something to say, say it later. Don’t make a fuss.”

The young man protested resentfully, “Why? It’s clearly him…”

“Shut up! Make another peep, and I’ll handle you!” Muniang glared at him, and the young man instantly went weak-kneed. How could this sister be so fierce?

Zhong Yulang seemed to have grasped something but appeared to have no desire to wade into this mess, and he said bluntly, “I’ll leave this person to you, I need to go onstage.” With that, he walked away.

The young man was extremely anxious inside but was scared into silence by Muniang’s intimidating look, fearing to upset her.

The backstage actors all watched the scene in bewilderment, clearly just as confused. The young servant asked, “Lady, should we still chase this person away?”

Muniang yanked the young man by the arm and dragged him toward the second floor, “No need, I’ll handle this personally!”

Once inside the room, Muniang slammed the door shut and stared intently at the young man, “Who are you? How do you know Lu Qi’er?”

The young man, still a boy at heart, couldn’t stand the intimidation, but what man would admit he was cowed? Stiffening his back, he retorted defiantly, “Why should I tell you!”

Muniang raised an eyebrow; the kid certainly wasn’t lacking in courage.

“Do you think I can’t beat you?” Muniang’s voice was chilling, “Your little tricks are nothing in front of me, kid. You’d better come clean, or I’ll make sure you’re beaten so badly even your mother won’t recognize you.”

The young man felt a shiver down his spine; he had never been this scared, not even when his father hit him. This sister was terrifying.

“I, I, I am Qi’er’s fiancé!”

Muniang was momentarily taken aback, “Are you Zhao Ziming?”

Zhao Ziming got excited, “Did Qi’er mention me to you?”

“Yes, she even cried.”

Zhao Ziming felt his heart clench and asked anxiously, “Why did she cry?”

Muniang looked at him indifferently, “She cried because she heard she had to marry you.”

Zhao Ziming: “…”

Zhao Ziming sat down defeatedly in the Taishi chair, his head drooping, “I just can’t figure out what I lack compared to that man, she just doesn’t like me.”

Seeing the boy like this, obviously truly defeated, Muniang decided not to tease him anymore and said seriously, “Why did you come looking for Zhong Yulang today? To beat him up because you couldn’t stand it? Do you think beating him would make Lu Qi’er like you?”

Zhao Ziming said, “Actually, I wanted to ask him to take good care of Qi’er in the future. She’s a bit spoilt and wilful; I’m afraid Zong Yulang won’t be able to handle her, and may treat her poorly later. Of course, beating him up was also necessary; after all, he’s gotten such a great deal, and it still upsets me.” He said this with the aggrievement of a little white rabbit.

Muniang found herself amused for no reason, “Then why didn’t you bring some backup? You couldn’t even touch the hem of his robe by yourself, aren’t you embarrassed?”

“If I’m going to fight, I have to do it myself! But I didn’t expect an actor to know kung fu! If I’d known he could fight, I definitely would have brought backup!” Zhao Ziming said indignantly.

Muniang couldn’t help but laugh, “This kid, does he always talk with such a silly earnestness? But at least he’s sincere; there’s no hint of deceit in his words.”

Zhao Ziming said defeatedly, “Do you also think I’m pretty useless?”

“Don’t worry, Zhong Yulang doesn’t want to marry Qi’er. Whether you’re useful or not, no one’s competing with you for her,” Muniang said.

She had expected him to jump for joy at these words, but to her surprise, he became angry, “He doesn’t want to marry Qi’er?! She’s so dedicated to marrying him, how dare he look down on her?! No way! I must beat up that ungrateful wretch!”

As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves and prepared to rush out but was pulled back by Muniang, “Are you an idiot? Why are you getting angry instead of being secretly happy that Zhong Yulang doesn’t want her? Do you really want Lu Qi’er to marry someone else? Didn’t you say you liked her?”

Zhao Ziming said miserably, “I do like her. I’ve liked her since we were kids. We were childhood sweethearts meant to be married, but she doesn’t like me at all. She won’t marry me.”

Looking at him like this, Muniang suddenly felt a pang of emotion. After their conversation, it was clear this youth was of a simple nature, and his words surely weren’t false. His candid pronouncement that he had liked her since they were children showed he truly was a lovesick soul.

“Why doesn’t she like you?”

Zhao Ziming said somewhat irritated, “She likes heroes, and I’m not one.”

Muniang pondered for a moment, then suddenly had an idea and smiled cunningly, “I do have a method that might just move the fair maiden’s heart. Would you like to try it?”

If this really could make Lu Qi’er “Change Heart,” then this complicated situation might easily be bypassed! The young man is good, and if he succeeds with Qi’er, she probably won’t come out shortchanged. But it’s hard to say whether Lu Qi’er will be moved in the end.

“What method?” Zhao Ziming’s eyes lit up.

Muniang smiled slyly, “Qi’er likes heroes, so why don’t you become a hero just once? Your brain isn’t sharp at all, no wonder you’ve never won her favor all these years.”
