Chapter 336: Chapter 337 The Villain Sues First_1 Chapter 336: Chapter 337 The Villain Sues First_1 Qingmei was originally sitting at the front of the cart, and completely caught off guard by Mrs. Liang’s kick, she stumbled and fell directly off the cart. She rolled on the ground and her forehead struck a sharp stone, breaking it open into a large hole, as blood uncontrollably gushed out.

The villagers were stupefied, unable to fathom that their intention to ridicule Mrs. Liang with their words had led to her venting her rage upon Qingmei.

Mrs. Liang leapt down from the cart and, upon seeing Qingmei sitting dazed on the ground with blood streaming unchecked, was filled with rage. She kicked her and began to scream, “You good-for-nothing! Who are you playing dead for now? I’ve kept you well-fed and comfortable all year, only to end up feeding a dog! I knew, the moment I gave birth to you, that you would be a jinx. I should have strangled you then and there!”

When Mrs. Liang first gave birth to Qingmei, her resentment was the deepest, for all three of her births had been daughters. Therefore, Qingmei was treated as an unlucky star from birth and received far worse treatment than her two sisters.

Qingmei, dazed from the beating, didn’t even dare to resist. She could only let Mrs. Liang drag her around and beat her with punches and kicks. Crying and begging for mercy was useless; Mrs. Liang intended to let out all her fury.

The villagers, coming to their senses, hurried to intervene, but Mrs. Liang’s strength was remarkably great, impossible to restrain. As she continued to beat Qingmei, she cursed at the villagers, “What’s it to you how I discipline my daughter? Qingmei’s nothing but unwanted, damaged goods now, so revel in your schadenfreude all you want. Don’t get in my way; just looking at you irritates me!”

The women who had been the happiest to gossip, now looking at Qingmei’s pitiful state, actually felt sympathy and spoke up directly, “Mrs. Liang, she is your own daughter! Mr. Chen left on his own, so what does that have to do with Qingmei? If you keep beating her like this, aren’t you going to beat her to death!”

But upon hearing the gossipy woman, Mrs. Liang became even more infuriated and seemed determined to oppose her, “So I’m being too harsh now? Do I need your permission now to punish my own daughter? Mind your own business!”

With that, she raised her hand to slap Qingmei across the face, but Qingmei squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the pain. Suddenly, Mrs. Liang’s hand was restrained mid-air.

Mrs. Liang looked up furiously, only to see Muniang, who had arrived unnoticed. Muniang was now holding her wrist, causing Mrs. Liang to glare, “What are you doing? Let go of me this instant, otherwise believe it or not, I’ll slap you too!”

Muniang snorted coldly, “I’d like to see you try!” With that, she yanked hard on her wrist, causing Mrs. Liang to stagger and lose her balance, her face showing true panic. Muniang then kicked out, striking her in the stomach, sending Mrs. Liang flying several meters away.

Some villagers couldn’t help but exclaim, “Good!”

Mrs. Liang, like an enraged lioness, charged at Muniang, “I’m going to take you down with me!”

Muniang sidestepped and at the same time sheltered Qingmei in her arms. Mrs. Liang fell flat on her face, furious to the point of steaming anger, her eyes looking as if she wanted to tear Muniang limb from limb. The villagers now united to hold Mrs. Liang down, preventing any further chaos.

Qingmei nestled softly in Muniang’s embrace, her eyes swollen from weeping, her face a messy mix of tears and smeared dirt, with several nail marks shockingly visible, “Mu, I’m scared.”

Muniang hurriedly and gently patted her back, “Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. I’ll go get a doctor for you right away, don’t fear.”

Eager villagers also hurriedly went to fetch Doctor Chen.

Mrs. Liang, whose body was restrained, couldn’t soothe the excruciating pain in her belly, only managed to snarl with bitterness, “Well, look at that! You’re all ganging up on me now, aren’t you? Trying to bully me deliberately? So many of you against one woman—I’ve really seen it all now! This is outrageous, Tupo Village can’t even tolerate me anymore, I might as well not live!”

Her cries were as loud as a pig being slaughtered; she made herself look like a victim. The villagers were speechless; they had clearly tried to stop her from hitting her child, but now they were accused of bullying. Could this woman’s tongue get any more venomous?

Muniang spoke in a cold voice, “Go get the Village Head. Continuing like this won’t solve anything.” After all, Qingmei was Mrs. Liang’s child, and as much as it wasn’t really anyone’s business if she wanted to discipline her child, the beating might have killed her. Only the Village Head had the authority to intervene.

The villagers realized and quickly went to call the Village Head. For some reason, at moments like this, they instinctively trusted and relied on Muniang’s decisions.

No sooner had the Village Head arrived than Mrs. Liang, clutching the hem of his robe, wailed, “Village Head, you must stand up for me. Look at these heartless wretches. They used to jeer at us out of envy that Qingmei would marry well, but now they’ve teamed up against me. So many against one, look at how bruised I am, I might die! When did Tupo Village start treating people like this? Bullying a weak woman all together, shameless!”

The faces of the villagers instantly darkened—Mrs. Liang was playing the victim first!

“What do you mean? We stopped you out of kindness. Otherwise, you would have beaten Qingmei to death. And now you’re trying to put the blame on us—who is really shameless here?”

Mrs. Liang glared and cursed, “What? I can’t discipline my own daughter without your interference? Which family doesn’t scold their children? Shame on you for using this as an excuse. When I entered the village just now, who was the one mocking me?”

“Which family beats their child to death’s door? The child’s head is cracked open, and you act as if you didn’t see it. Blood pouring out, you keep on hitting—what if you killed her?”

“If she died, she’s not your daughter! If you know what’s good for you, get lost, and stop nagging me with nonsense! Wang Qingmei! You wretched girl, where are you skulking? Get over here now, or else I’ll skin you alive!” Mrs. Liang’s eyes were like poison, chilling to the bone.

Qingmei just trembled uncontrollably, uncertain whether to go or not. Going meant a beating, not going meant the same; she was caught in a dilemma and began to cry in desperation.

Muniang immediately pulled Qingmei behind her and reassured her, “Don’t be afraid, Mu is here. You won’t be hit anymore; just stay good and quiet.”
